  1. I think most of the players we have would play well against us, so is it a tactical issue?
  2. It's getting a trend now for wide men to pass sideways and backwards, Chilwell was constantly doing it for England and Jack Grealish for Manchester City. Bring back the Rick Holden's again I say.
  3. You'd think we'd have decent substitutes with a squad of about 36 players.
  4. 25 years ago Curzon Ashton were in the North West Counties League, now they are in the National League North play offs with a great chance of facing Latics next season. And on top of that Ashton United could be in the NLN next season one league away from us. Who have thought it?
  5. MMs powder puff forwards set the tone, Norwood another sulking performance and Dallas as weak as a kitten. How Hope gets a start is even more incredible. Massive clear out of players with a poor attitude needed even if Frank has to pay them off.
  6. He did,but he's not been the worst player by far, Hope, Dallas and Norwood look like they aren't interested.
  7. Ah, probably from being kicked up hill and down dale. With no referee protection as I saw in one game. When is he back?
  8. And yet we have a brilliant young winger in the youths who'd destroy Altrincham, but not even given a look in. The youth team centre forward is good too.
  9. We know Latics are going to win this 1-0, just like the FA Cup tie.
  10. There was certainly some size on the pitch.
  11. Oldham Rugby 54 Rochdale 6. The players didn't seem to have much fear of playing at Boundary Park.
  12. I'm a man of many words rather than short ones as you know.
  13. I think you're right the players are clearing their lines and in their own minds it prevents conceding a goal or if latched onto can lead to scoring a goal. A safer option that misplacing a pass or being dispossessed and the crowd on their backs. Maybe next season confidence can come from winning home games with passing the ball without fear. I guess this is what MM will be working on.
  14. Give the captaincy to Dan Garder played his heart out again.
  15. Ps, I didn't see any sign of them to witness 5 goals, a brilliant exhibition of fast flowing football and inspirational coaching from Chukwuma Akuneto. What else were they doing that was priority and couldn't have been dealt with at Chapel Road? Certainly not coaching the first team as we all know that makes not the slightest difference.
  16. The more I see of the youths the more I'm impressed with the coach. You can see every single player wants to play for him. I reckon he'd encourage the same style of quick passing football if given the first team job. He's got a great future in the game this man.
  17. Youths 2 up after 25 mins playing a brand of fast passing football totally alien from what I've seen from the first team, and Walsall are a tall competitive side. The Latics big quick number 9 is causing havoc.
  18. Alfie Atherton not in the youth team, is this an indication he is in line for a first team call up? Can't see any sign of MM or Brabin checking out the young prospects.
  19. I think certain players played the way they wanted not as regimented. After down a man Dallas played a free number 10 role similar to Haughton of Fylde and no is telling me that was on the instructions of MM. Dallas should be given that role in future and Gardner relished his central attacking so keep him there.
  20. I think I've spotted why we are underperforming. After going down to 10 men the players unleashed the shackles and played the they wanted, not Mellon and Brabin's. Gardner and Dallas were prime examples. This indicated to me the players don't like being pressured to play a style of football they dislike. Mellon and Brabin must give the players freedom to express themselves or IMO things will get worse
  21. Mellon and Brabin should be at the youth team match today v Walsall (11am Chapel Road) If not and they come up with some excuse it's shows a complete disregard to our young lads. They'd see a different type of football though from a coach who had got them playing on the front foot with pace, skill and enthusiasm.
  22. Did it cross anyone else's mind an 'Adam Rooney' moment when Norwood was shoved out on the right wing?
