  1. Of the current crop I particularly like the off the ball play and great attitude of Nathan Kilcourse and the sharp courageous striker Adam Edwards, I expect them to come more to the fore next season though. Closer to the first team Paul Black has the right attitude too. It's up to them though to continue progressing. I like players with good basic skills and determination, I have seen many talented kids fall by the wayside who have not applied themselves. One of the best prospects I ever recommended as a teenager got sidetracked and isn't playing the game at any level now. I have the utmost respect for Tony Philiskirk he is dong a wonderful job and has many more great prospects in the pipeline.
  2. Strange, you would have thought Latics would have jumped at the extra £100,000, or tried to up PNE's offer. Could be though the PNE deal has extra add ons we don't know about.
  3. Left wingers are rare breed, if I see an up and coming Alan Groves from any where - be it Latics, league, or non league I will let soon you know.
  4. Perhaps PNE will sell him to Derby and land a quick £100,000 profit
  5. As an ex premiership scout I know you look to players potential when offering a contract, not what level they are playing at the time. I said it many times last season (as others will testify) when Trotman was in the reserves he had that potential, and therefore in my eyes should have been given a longer contract. However, it's all about opinions and I accept yours.
  6. Latest News; Neal Trotman: Derby County in late £600,000 bid (In thought PNE was a done deal ?) Kevin Besty: Bristol City to Walsall - on loan Anthony Elding: Stockport County to Leeds United - fee agreed Baz Savage: Poised to sign for Kilmarnock Keep adding to the thread please as more news comes in.
  7. The fact is hadn't Gregan got injured and still be playing Trotman would still be awaiting his debut and probably released at the end of the season on a free. That shows in the contract he was originally offered, one year and not 3 or 4 like some of the other youngsters.
  8. He should have been offered a 3 year contract in the first place, what were the management thinking of, it was obvious even when in the reserves he was a colossus.
  9. There is cash for progressing through each round of the F.A.Cup, plus a bit of TV money. Bet they sold a few extra programmes too at £3 a time, also the catering and club shop will have profited.
  10. Don't forget next season there are couple of good centre backs who will emerge from the youth team.
  11. Did anyone notice when Eardley won a corner he retreated immediatelly to the half way line, while Taylor trotted over from the far flank to take it, the corner was fluffed and Taylor had to run all the way back to where he had come from to take up his position Why couldn't Eardley just take the corner ?
  12. Inspiral is right, even older players can be very sensitive to barracking. That's why I would advise players like Allesandra and Smalley to work hard every single game and not let their heads fall at any time. Determination to succeed plus talent is a potent factor.
  13. Taylor's suspended so who comes in then ?...can't see Hughes being fit.
  14. Allesandra's hold up play was a delight to watch and some of the best seen here in many a year, this lad could be a Premiership player if he puts his mind to it. (bit of the Kenny Dalgliesh style in him I thought). He has the ability, he's got his chance now it's down to him to make sure he won't let it go.
  15. I remember Mike Flynn, Trotman is a far better player, and on that assumption will go much higher. Don't sell him.
  16. Silly to sell him, offer him a bigger contact to stay, Latics need to build a team of young prospects like him, not never ending loanees.
  17. I hope he can create chances as his record of 8 goals from 167 games isn't too impressive. On the other hand perhaps he's due one tonight.
  18. Perhaps a Trotman deal with Nicky Chadwick thrown in is in the offing ? He's a big robust centre forward, just the type required.
  19. Younger than Trotman, but was playing at a lower level. Liverpool
