  1. Many kids have ability, but not the dedication and determination to make the grade, IMO Black has all the required qualities.
  2. From what I have seen of him in the last year the lad has ability and is very determined, he will do well.
  3. Scottish Daily Record: Wadsworth to quit Gretna. Wadsworth The rumours are 6' 2" under 21 International goalkeeper Greg Fleming (21), Uruguayan Fabian Yantorno (25) and Paul Murray (31) could move to Latics.
  4. There was a South American looking guy the directors box at last nights reserve game accompanied with a young lady, they shook hands with Shez before the game. He had his legs covered with a blanket for most of the match and look bewildered by the football (or lack of it) on display.
  5. His next signing is bound to be from Everton - the toffeemen.
  6. :grin:I think the question meant what you would like to see from them rather what you are getting now.
  7. The training ground bears no relation to an actual game, cricketers who look great in the nets or race horses who scorch the gallops can flatter to deceive. Wolfendon is a quiet character who needs bringing out of his shell, ideally in a winning team to give him confidence. Latics should stick with him in the long run, he has the ability to become a prolific goalscorer if used correctly.
  8. in one word, what do you expect from any Latics team ? I'll start you off. PASSION.
  9. Here's one worth considering, this is what the Newcastle United website says about him; FRASER FORSTER Newcastle United Reserves maintained their unbeaten run when they held the powerful Liverpool Reserves side to a 0-0 draw at St. James' Park tonight. They have now gone 4 games unbeaten but Newcastle were indebted to a fantastic display of goalkeeping from 19 year old Fraser Forster who was in inspired form tonight in the home goal, and pulled off a string of superb saves. Shay and Steve should be looking over their shoulder at this boy, who is 6'4" and still growing, and the most improved player at the club over the last 2 years.
  10. Can it be a Ker ching time for Latics if he signs for a foreign club ?
  11. I felt sorry for the new Latics Lotto girl, introduced at half time as attending her first ever football match.
  12. ok, you were slightly constructive in your reply Mr Coco, but not as much as Leesie. I have seen many players converted from their accepted positions over the years, some worked, some didn't. Here at Latics Ian Wood from centre forward to full back, Maurice Whittle from midfield to full back, Ian Marshall centre half to centre forward. For Senor Coco, I've even known outfield players convert to goalkeepers - Harry Dowd in his youth springs to mind. The most remarkable one for me at another club was Malcom McDonald, who was a very ordinary fullback until he later went on to become a prolific goalscoring centre forward. My point is if these things are not tried how will anyone know for sure a players best position ? My next suggestion is Allesandra in a deeper lying role behind two strikers.
  13. Should have known it would be non constructive response from you.
  14. How about trying Eardly as an attacking midfielder in the Kilkenny mould ? He is good running with the ball, his short passing game is ok, and he strikes the ball well. Also, with playing more central and further up the field he would be less inclined to hoof the ball. I remember many years ago Ken Knighton converting from full back to midfield, and he was a revelation. If you don't try it you will never know.
  15. If you saw some of the poor distribution during last nights Middlesbrough v Sheffield FA cup tie I think you will come to the conclusion Trotman will cope easily cope at a higher level than Div1. He is also quicker than many Championship centre backs.
  16. In 1960 gates were around 5,000, then overnight they rocketed to 17,000. The reason for this was a signing which captured the imagination of the public - Bobby Johnstone. He was the reason I became a Latics fan, because he provided that powerful ingredient ENTERTAINMENT, something not seen much at BP this season. In other words, capture the publics imagination and capture their hearts. Any suggestions as to who fits the Bobby Johnstone bill today ?
  17. At 20yo and 5ft 9ins (according to wikipedia) he's not quite the big experienced target man many think is needed, but if he scores/creates goals that won't matter.
  18. Jordan conjurs up different visions for me.
  19. If some players were 'tired' and showed little desire at Brighton I would want to know why, anyone would think they were part time non leaguers working a full week and also on the morning of the match. I am tired - tired of when players don't put a full shift in.
  20. Sorry, I did mean David Dowson..I notice he scored on his debut, another one missed by latics just like Sherjil McDonald..there are more out there and I will keep looking.
