    FIFY. Refs can't choose to implement some Laws and not others. Careless/Reckless/Excessive force (which get a free kick, booking and sending off respectively) is a matter if opinion - outside interference isn't.

    Great game, great performance, and, for once, great Ref! (He played a fantastic advantage just before the first goal. Don't know why people were moaning about the dropball - he didn't write the LotG!!)

    Lino had a clear view, ref (and camera!) were behind, so had players in the way. The lino can't give a penalty, the ref has to agree. If the lino 'gave' it, then the referee didn't see it clearly.

    I wasn't there, can only go off what the Reporter said seeing as the highlights don't bother to show it! They could've shown me that as an example of a careless challenge in my Ref training, no need at all.

    It was a careless challenge, therefore a penalty. Not that difficult, eh?! Besides, the Final Score reporter reckoned they'd had a stonewall pen turned down 1st half, so it pretty much balanced itself out!

    Good Lord, that is no age at all! He'd have been there in my first season as a season ticket holder, he played pretty much every match for us, IIRC! RIP.

    I remember that game, actually!! That was a good 'un, but they had 2 sent off, and we got two pens, IIRC?

    Tell me if you can find the big, gaping hole in my thoughts, but why is it that, at corners, teams don't put 4/5 people up? The attacking team would have to at least match the number of people staying up, clearing the penalty area, and giving the keeper an easy catch! Works on Football Manager, anyway!

    The first half was the single best performance I think I've ever seen from a Latics team (granted I'm only 16, and only been going regularly for 5 years, but there you go!) 10 points out of 12 ain't bad at all - even if we were to draw against Dale, 11 in 15 is promotion form in anyone's book.

    It's not actually that difficult, if he's interfering with play when the ball is played by a teammate, and in an offside position, he's offside.

    Blame lies with Dale. If the club don't ask for an inspection, the ref has no responsibility to inspect. Not on at all for a FL team.
