  1. I remember Palmer being slated in the first couple of years by our "knowlegable" fans Things really don't change that much
  2. Don't agree with all you state but then it would be boring ;) however just to let you know one of our ex-centre halves agreed(at ht admittedly) that Grounds and Tarky were our best players upto half time. Hard to disagree from my view though I thought weso and Rooney were quality today. Connor looks twice the player of last season as well ;)
  3. So sorry to hear of your loss Ian, thoughts are with you
  4. Agreed, natural leader on the pitch, needs a bit of pace around him that's all
  5. Conference North next season for the Brakes, have come a long way from the midland combination in 10 years. Haven't got the facilities or the catchment to go much higher though. Nuneaton is a more likely destination for cov fans though as its part of cov
  6. Just to throw one out there, I have heard that actually in the first instance Dean didn't push to go to Donny and was pretty shocked the loan request (I believe there is a fee involved)was accepted. However I believe it was also accepted by the club due to the no of games he would miss at the end of the season due to international call ups. I also believe that being at Doncaster has so far worked well with him and that he enjoyed working with Dickov etc therefore has championship football, a good rapport with his manager and great facilities to play in, hence the move and the way it has worked out for him.
  7. Don't stress on this guys it's been done before by Jack Duckworth(RIP)and Curly Watts when they said an oxymoron was a contradiction in terms eg Oldham and athletic . Take heart that we are still worth talking about all, maybe she is a bitter scouser ;@)
  8. So players haven't been assaulted by someone invading the pitch? Therefore in my mind at least it is relevant discussion to have and does have relevance here and is not ":censored: all" to do with the facts and is a salient reason for bringing it into a discussion around pitch invasions. The statement at the start of the thread included the damage to the Crawley coach hence I pulled the two together. The association was already there in the title around the thread. There has been a number of threads and comments where people have objected to the behaviour of some of the people utilising the £10 season tickets throughout the season. Barry has also addressed this in the thread and said it would be reviewed, it doesnt mean that all people utilising the tickets have engaged in anti-social behaviour nor does it mean that people using full price tickets havent, it just means that Barry and others at the club are aware of the behaviour of some of the people using the tickets and have come to the conclusion that a straight £10 season ticket to all those under sixteen isnt totally beneficial to the club so they will refine the offer to give what they believe is the best solution. You might not agree with it and it may not have been the right forum to do it on, but the club are entitled to say what they think and provide reasons for rethinking the offer. Whether or not you think its valid and will drive a wedge between fans and the club is your perogative.
  9. To be fair, not at all and a pitch invasion at the end of the season isnt the worst thing that can happen. I dont blame the kids at all but my point was the club need to be seen to uphold the rules and not condone them, which Barry has done. I dont think he needs a slagging for it thats all. Then I pointed out an over-reaction eg loosing the license which councils have threatened to do that was all eg when everyone stood up in seats at Old Trafford(though IMO again)that was just the rush for prawn sandwiches. I also think the damage to the coach was out of order and wouldnt want the club to be making light of that, thats a different thing and IMO only was more important than slagging Barry for moaning abt pitch invasions.
  10. Now that would be a good signing, we got Lee Grant on loan as Camp was keeping him out of the Derby(I think) side
  11. Just pointing out the facts, infact lets ignore them and have a pitch invasion every week, in fact forget the game, just run on the pitch much more fun
  12. So now pitch invasions are fine, ask Chris Kirkland or one of the other players assaulted this season and in previous campaigns. The rules are there and Latics like all clubs are liable to be fined when they are broken therefore they are right to ask for them to be adhered to. The other part to this thread was the damage to the Crawley coach which seems to have been forgotten in our rush to blame the club for asking for rules to be adhered to, is this youthful exuberance as well? Why is Barry personally, and why are the club being chastised for asking for FL/FA rules to be adhered to whilst suggesting that there was a good chance of the club being fined where the precedence says they will be fined? Luckily that didnt happen this time, next time it might. Do we think pitch invasions are ok? The law and the governing bodies say not.Latics have to be seen to be taking steps to uphold this or else they will be liable to fines and are also in danger of having their license revoked to hold games with paying crowds at BP. Nearly every ground has signs at it stating that it is an offence to enter the field of play, this from the onset is asking for regulations to be upheld and gives a directive to the crowd.
  13. Has anybody got Oldham v Arsenal when I think Ricky Holden was sent off for shoving Lee Dixon. It was on MOTD, it pans in on my Dad having a paddy and throwing his hat on the floor. Would be great to remind him of this ;@)
  14. Sorry if this has been posted as I haven't read through, Ricky Holden - we lost 2-1 I think
  15. A lot would say that her policies were the only response possible to red robbo etc who really destroyed British Industry by holding the country to ransom, with their strikes, pushing un-sustainable demands on British companies making them incapable of competing with the up and coming powerhouses of the world at home and abroad. The damage to the working people was already done
  16. Agreed - great keeper, unfortunately out of our budget Personally think Boozy has done a good job for us this year, an above average league 1 keeper with a desire to win
  17. I see that, I tried to caveat it, with it's a atrange one, but if we stay up, he'll be great, if not its another mistake, depending on how we go about it. Worse thing the crowd can do is make it an even worse atmos as that wont help the cause this season
  18. Admittedly its a strange one, but can't hang the guy out to dry before he even steps foot in the place. Worse case he'll have fresh ideas and can play in centre mid.
  19. If Officials can't give decisions as difficult as this whats the point in having them, you may as well do a draw at each game before kick off and ask 4 people from the crowd to do it. To be fair you'd probably get more decisions right.
