  1. Or they could change their name to: Greater Manchester Metropolitan County & Combined Authority Area Cricket Club. Got a nice ring to it don’t you think?
  2. ‘little Lancastrians who still live in pre-industrial times’? What was that you said about ‘abuse’? I prefer the more romantic notion. For me the question is how long has Lancashire been in existence compared to ‘Greater Manchester’? The history of Lancashire begins with its founding in the 12th century. Greater Manchester was created on 1 April 1974. Oldham Athletic was created in 1899 when Pine Villa (founded in 1895) changed it’s name. It was part of Lancashire for a lot longer than it has been part of Greater Manchester - and for many of us (myself included) the Lancashire association remains.
  3. Raises a question… when does the distance involved negate a fixture being a ‘derby’ game? Ipswich versus Norwich 45 miles for example?
  4. (Selected) Away fans on Saturday in League 2: Latics at Colchester 462 Carlisle at Leyton Orient 700 Mansfield at Bradford 2129 Exeter at Bristol Rovers 1128 Salford at Swindon 94
  5. Lager has it’s time and place: Curry with a couple of bottles of Cobra Pints of Hoegaarden on a summer’s day Estrella Damm when in Barcelona
  6. Queensy Menig scores this evening for Partisan Belgrade at Sparta Prague in the Europa Conference. Still remember his only goal for us at home to Blackburn… halcyon days…
  7. @Bobledgersheart Final word on permitted substitutes - EFL regulations stipulate a maximum of 3 plus up to 2 ‘concussion’ subs allowed.
  8. Tune! Electro pop at its finest I was a big fan in my yoof - I recall taking a sceptical mate to a concert on the ‘Dazzle Ships’ tour - he was blown away by how good they were
  9. Or could it be a concussion substitution like they have in the Prem? btw - I checked the OMD 3 and I think you might be right…
  10. Thanks for this. It just seems strange to me that no other teams made more than three substitutions on Saturday And I can find no mention of this change on the internet either…
  11. A question that comes under the: ‘and that’ part of this thread… I see that both Oxford and Portsmouth made FOUR substitutions in their League 1 game on Saturday - I thought that the maximum was three? Am I missing something?
  12. George Best had a football skills show on TV - they used footage from the practice games against us.
  13. When he joined us he was fairly decent but as the weeks progressed he seemed to get worse… not a big miss I reckon
  14. He played 26 games for us 9 years ago when he was 22 years old. After leaving us he has played for 6 further clubs and currently is at Guingamp in the French Ligue 2. I’d say that he has done okay
  15. Meh - apart from the left back, Odimayo, and the lad McKirdy they looked fairly ordinary to me.
  16. Two former Latics players in Lyden and Hunt playing for them this evening — their attempt at playing out from the back is as bad as ours
  17. My view - Apart from a very few exceptional talents, young players need to be carefully managed. By all means give them early opportunity but manage their game time carefully. Couto is one example. Clearly a talented player going forward but still lacking in the defensive side of his game. On at least one occasion yesterday Piergianni had to remind Couto of his positioning and several other times Benny was just not strong enough to hold off the attacker. Hart should start on Saturday. Then there is Harry Vaughan - huge talent but is still a schoolboy in stature. He will get stronger and fitter and has all the attributes to play at a higher level. Though good when driving forward, he was caught in possession a number of times and should have been substituted far earlier than he was. Play Whelan and Bowden on Saturday and bring Harry on if needed.
  18. He became the Chief Executive of the PFA for England and Wales on 1 June 2021,
