  1. Let’s face it - we have far too many in the squad who will not get much, if any, game time going forward. Many of the loanees (SIX) should go/have gone back to their parent clubs - I believe that Roberts, Carragher and now Threlkeld are injured plus Carty, McGlynn and Wellens who have already gone. Notable exceptions are Clarke, Peck, Chapman and Abraham and possibly Okagbue. I would have Carragher back if he recovers sufficiently from his injury. Players to go out on loan etc (SIX) are: Cooper, Stobbs, Vaughan, Luamba, Windass & Leutwiler. Players to move on are Clark and Angol. Then there’s the injury prone Porter, McGahey and Fondop (yes Fondop) - that’s FIVE. So… 6+6+5 = 17. Then get to work on getting the best out of Burgess and Rooney… oh and try winning a game or two
  2. 6’4” striker - he is currently on loan at Solihull so should sign in time to make his debut against… Solihull
  3. Well at least that makes the ‘only 5 loanees in the match day squad’ decision a tad easier
  4. I had a bet on him to score the first goal in the match when we played away at Oxford Utd back in 2016… I have no idea why. He did the business at 60-1
  5. Loans for Carragher, Carty plus extended the Okagbue deal. So yes only two permanent signings but already 5 of 6 loanees plus the return of Hogan and Hope. Thats a lot of incoming!
  6. You have the right to an opinion the same as anyone else. it’s just that the game has moved on and what worked back in the day won’t necessarily work today. I watched a documentary on Jimmy Greaves recently and it was mentioned that, when he played for Chelsea, some in the dressing room would have a cigarette at half time… It didn’t do them any harm…
  7. Agree - it’s time to stop harping on about a different era - it has absolutely no relevance to what is going on today…
  8. Oh for the days of a centre back who could play as a centre forward … Ian Marshall anybody? and then there was Paul Warhurst too…
  9. Glad we cleared that up then - your subtlety obviously lost on me!
  10. If we needed any further confirmation of how bad a set of players we have at the club, then tonight’s performance showed the stark reality of just how far we have fallen. Of the fourteen that got onto the pitch, only Abraham, Cooper and, late on, Tollit showed anything. We are embarrassingly bad and I have no more words.
  11. I think it would be pretty smart of him to change his tactics on the back of crap results and performances though…
  12. I was referring to you recent spate of “we’ll smash these easy” predictions
  13. Love the irony of using sarcasm to suggest that others believe it can only be a good thing to ‘criticise players publicly’ when that quite clearly that is not what the counter argument is How dare Unsworth point out that Vaughan didn’t close the player down for the goal? Doesn’t big Dave know that little Harry’s ‘only a kid’? etc etc etc
  14. The big questions: 1. ”Will we see a reaction (to the Tuesday performance) in the team selection?” 2. ”Will the players who start the game step up and play with energy, drive and desire?” The big answers: 1. Given that we haven’t brought in anyone, it’s down to which of the current squad are available. Is Hope ready to be on the bench? What is the injury status of Clark, Carragher, Porter, Gardner… and will he go with Vaughan and Carty from the off? (*) 2. <shrugs shoulders and grimaces> (*) not really an answer in that the response just raised more questions
  15. And that’s my point exactly @League one forever Stop treating him like a kid and he will grow in confidence - I would be willing to bet that Vaughan himself is not in the least fazed by the ‘criticism’.
  16. If Harry Vaughan wants to play in the first team then I suggest we stop calling him a ‘young kid’ - it does him no favours whatsoever. He’s Eighteen and a half years old - he ain’t a kid anymore Didn’t someone once say: “If he’s good enough then he’s old enough”? In my opinion Vaughan is good enough and maybe treating him like a kid is holding back his development. The manager points out a mistake that is indicative of one aspect of Vaughan’s play and gets pilloried for it by some. If Vaughan has anything about him, he will take the criticism on board and come back stronger. And I believe he will.
