  1. I is for Irwin... Utd got a total bargain when they ‘stole’ Denis from us
  2. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2020/march/21032020-a-z-letter-d/ I’m enjoying the A to Z series on the official web site. Also loving the blue and red hooped shirt. - classic
  3. For the moment he is learning and improving under Gerrard at Rangers. His eventual level may be well be at a championship club - time will tell. As someone pointed out, this is a thread about ex players so perfectly valid to post and speculate. And he ain’t that long gone either.
  4. As someone said earlier in this thread/another thread: ’the longer you don’t play at Latics, the better you become’. I am looking forward to Branger-Engone and Egert ripping it up when they return from injury. And as for Nepomuceno, January cannot come soon enough for me
  5. Salford v Swindon is 1-1 at the moment. Goal scorers are Rooney and Doyle... hang on a minute, didn’t they both...?
  6. A classic example of a loanee who was simply not ready to go straight into the first team when he joined us and most would agree that Oldham was a poor choice for him - he needed a club where he would have time to develop and to get used to the rigours of lower league football. At the age of 26 he has already played for 16 different clubs. He has only recently found some form at league level for Plymouth and now Rotherham. A late developer indeed.
  7. Mike Jones scores a ‘screamer’ at Dulwich Hamlet yesterday. I was surprised to read that he actually played 80 times for us in his spell at the club.
  8. The title of the thread is ‘Ex players and that’. You can file this under ‘and that’. You’re welcome
  9. Manchester City are preparing a £450,000-a-week deal for Raheem Sterling in a bid to fend off interest from Real Madrid in the 24-year-old England forward. (Star)
  10. Ah... you mean that he is in charge of managing which players go out on loan I thought that you meant Norwich had brought him in on loan to be manager for a short time... now THAT would be an interesting concept. Jose Mourinho anybody?
  11. Career to date - 13 goals in 140 appearances...
  12. Micah Richards on the dark side of football - 'it's a lonely place, I felt like a ghost' http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/49845993 An interesting read. Gives a decent perspective on why his career never hit the heights it could have.
  13. Some big ties in the Carabao Cup 4th round draw... and then there’s Crawley versus Colchester
  14. Halifax let a two goal lead slip.. before half time Nepomuceno debut not going too well either
  15. A quick quiz to take your minds off the shambles - no looking them up. Which countries are the following teams from? All have played this evening in the Europa League. F91 Dudelange FK Qarabag RZ Pellets WAC LASK Oleksandria I knew one of ‘em
  16. https://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/news/2019/september/17092019-homeless-friendly/ Occasionally there is is something good to come out of the club.
  17. Good luck Billy @OAFCBilly a breath of fresh air on here. Let’s hope that whoever replaces you keeps the same standards and more importantly joins this forum. That will bring him/her up to speed sharpish...
  18. It seems to be the case that the majority of strikers who leave us with a poor reputation (Doyle’s second spell obvs) seem to hit a rich vein of form elsewhere
  19. Now I get that some on here don’t rate Maouche, but the constant attacks on him by one or two on this forum border on boo-boy tactics. Is it really necessary?
  20. I presume that this is an attempt at humour @wiseowl because if you are being straight with what you say then I think you should reveal who your ‘good authority’ is. Earlier in in the week we had posters using Branger and Vera starting games as evidence that the manager is being told which players to play. Neither started or came off the bench yesterday - so did Mo sanction that as well?
