  1. 494 sold. Could top 600 tomorrow. Let’s hope we turn up on the pitch as well
  2. Now this worries me. What I do not want is to go back to playing football in a ground with only three stands in use. If it means that the stand is in use but the facilities are not being made available then I would imagine the club will offer season ticket holders the choice of moving. If the SLA terms are prohibitive and financially disadvantageous to the club or the rent is unreasonable then I say to all parties to get around a table and sort it out. After all both want the the club to be successful don’t they?
  3. Having watched a few minutes of ‘highlights’ posted by our junior vlogger, It was more of the same approach that we have seen during preseason. No urgency, no tempo, no attacking plan and defensively poor. Either the players are saving themselves for when the real stuff starts or we are well and truly fooked
  4. We’ll be reet- the ref’s called Scott Oldham... expect a pen soon
  5. Halifax at home this evening. I expect to see, given the current players at the club, a starting eleven that is close to the one that will start at Forest Green on Saturday. I also expect to see a huge improvement in approach with a higher tempo and a more competitive attitude. Defensively much tighter and creating (and taking) our chances up top. Thats my heart speaking. My head is telling me something different...
  6. He has chosen to do this for the pre-season friendlies - it remains to be seen if that is the case when n the home league games start
  7. I’ll be there with a mate of mine. Last season the beer tent served a decent pint and the vegetable samosas were tasty. Not the best place to watch football but it’s the first game of the season. I just don’t miss these
  8. The point I was making is that, yet again, you posted something that was total bollocks.
  9. Once again you have got this slightly wrong @latics22 1.5k views for his vlog on the Ashton Utd friendly. 2.0k views for his vlog on the Rochdale friendly.
  10. My understanding is that the minimising of the number of threads helps keep costs down. That works for me - simply read the latest posts using the button to the left of the thread title.
  11. I didn’t get to the game on Saturday so my initial thoughts are based on the limited highlights I have seen from the game. I tend to side with the opinion that friendlies are not really that good an indicator of how a season will pan out. The nature of these games means that the play is often fragmented and the pace is slower. Players are getting used to each other and there will inevitably be mistakes. However I do believe that you can get an impression of how the new management team will approach the game and what the chosen style of play might be. I also believe that you can see which players are likely to make the starting eleven for the first game. Furthermore it does provide insight into where there are deficiencies in certain positions. As an absolute minimum, it is obvious to most that we need an experienced decent centre back to organise the defence and a tall mobile striker to lead the attack. And that’s the absolute minimum. I am in no doubt that Banide knows this too. There are less than two weeks to the first game of the season and if we are going to be competitive then these deficiencies have to be addressed.
  12. A reasoned and well expressed counter argument to the succession of posts from @Kusunga_Is_God Posts that contained such gems as: ‘you and others are desperate for these shenanigans to return to small inaudible murmurs so our club continues at its slow wood rotting progress.‘ ‘Does this not demonstrate a total and utter lack of backbone’ ‘The majority of haters towards my profile are beyond the age of 50,’ I await with anticipation the well thought out response from our resident angler.
  13. first time I’ve ever agreed with kowenicki...
  14. Shouldn’t that be 2-2? Love the description on twitter for the first goal: ‘Iacovitti's cross bounces off Vera into the path of Maouche who puts it into the net on the turn’
  15. The description of the evening’s events include the the following: ’There will also be a pie tasting taking place.’ Whats not to like?
  16. We look a way off in terms of speed of play and speed of thought from the very brief highlights. Number 11 and Number 5 looked competitive. Number 6 and Number 3 looked vulnerable. Early days.
  17. ‘a couple of others? Obviously the pre-match drinks went down well
  18. That’s all they need ‘cos there’s no traffic innit?
  19. Agree but the general point I made still stands; namely that after one game it’s far too early to judge. This was no more than a run out that was designed to ease players back into match play. At times it resembled a bunch of lads having a kick about down the local park. Your comments did not address any of the trialists and merely criticised three of the squad. I was just surprised that so many piled in to have a pop...but then again this is OWTB so maybe it should be expected.
  20. 🖐 I have supported Latics for 54 years now and have had a season ticket for the last 21 years. The club is in my DNA and in a way is partly what defines me. I have stuck by the club through the good times (there have been a few) and the bad times (there have been many). For me it goes way beyond football. However, I believe that we are at a pivotal point in our existence - The Lemsagan brothers have to show that their ‘plan’ for the club has substance and if we do not progress this season, then even the diehards like me will join the growing number of dissenting voices.
