  1. See this from earlier: ’Oh, and then there is the #Brangerhastoplayeverygame conspiracy to consider Perhaps he will play instead of Sylla? ‘ Missilou reverts to his defensive midfield role, wingers are Nepomuceno and Branger, and Lang plays free behind whomever
  2. So...if the game survives the weather then it seems likely that Pete Wild will still be in charge for the Morecambe game. if we assume that Iacovitti starts at left back, that means Nepomuceno plays further forward and Clarke comes back in for Stott. (Harsh given his performance at MK) Iversen, Hamer, Edmundson, Clarke, Iacovitti as the back five Lang, Maouche, Sylla, Missilou, Nepomuceno as the midfield five As for the front man... any from Vera, O’Grady, Baxter, Benteke - hardly inspiring Oh, and then there is the #Brangerhastoplayeverygame conspiracy to consider Perhaps he will play instead of Sylla? Over to you Pete Wild
  3. Or you cannot have watched many Latics teams down the years
  4. As a number of us have said, Pete Wild has done a reasonable job as interim manager but he is clearly not yet ready to take the role on permanently. The insight he has gained in running the first team will be invaluable if/when he returns to a role with the Academy. We all have our views on whether AL is having a say in who plays come match day, but what is patently clear is a need for a strong individual to come in and take on the manager’s position. If that person is Paul Scholes then I hope that his demands are honoured by AL. Then we might have a go at the playoffs. Whatever happens, it has to be soon!
  5. Good point - VAR is still subject to human interpretation as we know. Excellent facilities at the ground - they have a large bar behind the Away stand which was full to the rafters on a very cold night. And it was ironic that, should Brentford win the replay, they will play Swansea Away - which will mean having to postpone the scheduled league game which is ...Swansea Away
  6. I was at the match with a Brentford fan behind the goal at the end where the penalty was given. In real time it looked a nailed on penalty. Watching the replay it seems like the slightest touch from the defender knocked the Brentford player off balance causing him to go down. Harsh indeed. Had VAR been available, it would have been overturned.
  7. Maouche back though and possibly Stott in for Clarke?
  8. Upboated for using the term ‘head the ball’. - haven’t heard that in years
  9. Abdallah - Here are my conditions for taking the manager’s job: 1. I and my coaching team have total control over team selection 2. I can bring in my own back room team 3. Sufficient funds to be made available to sign players of proven quality 4. No player is signed without my agreement. 5. No member of the ownership team is allowed into the dressing room unless invited 6. Ownership team to give 24 hours prior notice if planning to turn up to a training session 7. Any criticism of players or coaching staff is handled behind closed doors 8. The club to forge stronger ties with the local community I look forward to your feedback.
  10. Highly sceptical about this being true. I wonder what the ‘Scholes is worth a Bob or two so won’t be demanding a high salary’ boys/girls think of this one?
  11. I assume that this game will be available as a pay-per-view on iFollow?
  12. Wow I know that this board, and football generally, is awash with differing opinions - that is what makes the debate so compelling and also so baffling. Everyone is entitled to express his or her view on events and as long as that view is put forward honestly (and without resorting to insult or prejudice) then it has validity. Even if it is totally at odds with what I believe. I was at the game and have subsequently watched the playback of the incident a dozen times. At the time, neither the referee nor his assistant instantly thought that it was a penalty. The subsequent decision, informed by god only knows what additional information, was to award the spot kick. Baffling indeed. We competed well yesterday away from home against a League 1 team who are in a decent run of form. Pete Wild made a couple of good observations in his post match interview: “I thought we looked a threat in the second half, however we've got to keep the ball better. We're good at soaking up pressure, but we've got to do better when we're breaking teams down and I don't think we were great at that aspect today.” Too often we relied on clearing our lines rather than looking to retain possession- none more so than the period immediately following our equaliser. One to explore on the training pitch. A million miles away? I don’t think that is the case. If we add a proper striker next week then we have a chance of making the play-offs.
  13. If they did it would be a fun ride. If only we had a proper striker
  14. Definitive for me - hand is in the air but Edmundson heads it away - not a penalty. However... he definitely elbows their keeper so a yellow card is correct. Ref shows a yellow followed by a red but not sure when Clarke got the first one
  15. Stott back after scoring the winner for Stockport today
  16. Butler suspended tomorrow. Downing brought in from Blackburn as cover.
  17. Come on Middlesbrough... As for us - What a further incentive to have a go at Doncaster.
