Interesting debate this one.
Do you get a better impression of the play and individual performances by being at the game or watching a televised showing of the game that uses a single camera?
I suggest the former.
Oh, and no opinion is more valid than another...it’s just that some opinions are more informed or based on greater insight.
Fair summary of the game. Vera looks way off fitness but there is something about him that makes me think he may yet come good. Having said that, for a big man he is strangely poor in the air
Missilou was not his usual effective self while Stott was okay but clearly being played out of position - he will be good cover for the centre back position.
In the end it was a much needed win. Fairly even game until the substitutions gave us a better shape (bringing on Dearnley and then Baxter while putting Nepomuceno back to left back). This meant we were playing without a big man up front so played more on the ground which seemed to suit. Great free kick from the oft maligned Branger and then the gaps appeared in the Crawley defence. A 3-0 score line flattered us somewhat but I'll take it! Clarke MotM for me.
Three home games to come and Scholes to sign? What’s not to look forward to?
Not quite sure what PW means with this comment:
“I’m going to say it again, but it's probably been our best week's training in terms of information...”
Anybody?
After losing our last three to Macc, Donny and Franchise (all by a 2-1 score line), lose tomorrow and we are well and truly fooked
Btw. The bookies (what do they know?) have us as favourites for the game.
In 1972 Ian Robins is thought to have scored Athletic’s fastest-ever goal when he scored after only FIVE seconds against Barnsley. Chronicle reporter Jim Williams wrote:
“Referee Walter Johnson clocked the goal at five seconds - and he was probably right for the first and last time of the afternoon.”
Latics went on to win the game 6-0... who knows what the score would have been if we’d had a decent ref huh?
RIP Jim - fond memories of your match reports.

Check out the photo gallery on t’fishul - I particularly like the one with AL and a wheelbarrow full of cash for Scholes...or maybe it’s full with snow
Morecambe have signed striker Sam Dalby and winger Piero Mingoia on loan until the end of the season.
Dalby has joined from Leeds while Mingoia has moved from Accrington Stanley.
