  1. Can't make my mind up about Norwood. Either he is trying too hard or nothing quite works for him at the moment BUT then he scores a sublime finish. Seems to be soo frustrated on the pitch sometimes-is it the standard of players around him, the style of play or with himself? Mind you he should be frustrated after Lundstram refused that pass to him in the first half. Oh and Hudson drives me crackers-how he got away without a booking yesterday for time wasting escapes me. Be interesting to see if Mellon tries to speed up the pace of play and ditch the long kicking.
  2. Bit of an exaggeration. 3000 there yesterday and maybe 50-100 at most got excited.
  3. This also. One thing this game and Chesterfield have in common is appalling stewarding. I could have told you the trouble would be in both corners of the stand where we are next to opposing fans. There were only about 5 stewards for the whole of the stand at first with nothing in the corners until the goals started to go in. The Rochdale stewards actually ended up having a proper dust up with their own supporters in the first half and our fans were blatantly drinking in full sight of the pitch. Lots of posts about bad behaviour-not condoning it. Hell it is the society we live in now it but it should and could have been managed much better.
  4. Think he is mentioned earlier in the thread-was a sub in one of the 1993 Liverpool games.
  5. Not at all. On a similar lighthearted note you and a few others are obviously not old enough to remember the Oldham Chron Rose Bowl games!
  6. I think we are talking about different types of derby.
  7. Surely the numbers going contradict this? Last week we played Alty-approx 1500 went even after POTD was announced. This week over 3000 going and tickets sold out for weeks. Fail to see it has anything in your words to do with being"tinpot" as we have played them in various leagues over many years and it has always been seen as a 'derby match'. You could look up the definition if you still disagree.
  8. Still not safe. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67168694
  9. Grass might be a bit long on Saturday. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/67147218
  10. Which illustrates the discussion perfectly-even at the highest standard some managers prefer a 'water carrier'.
  11. Having watched the England match tonight here is a Sheron analogy for you. Phillips played in midfield-was lucky to stay on after 2 bad tackles but this is basically all he did. No lack of effort yet almost every pass was a wall pass or went backwards BUT he was surrounded by better players who both covered and compensated for his weakness. Can see why he struggles to get in the City side but is an almost automatic pick for England. Can England win the Euros with him in the squad?
  12. Weren't people saying the same thing about Thompson after Unsworth's ramblings?
  13. Looking forward to revisiting this post on Weds morning next week.
  14. Impressed by how vocal he was too. He nearly took the stand roof off with his deflected shot just before he scored.
  15. Green was terrible today and made the sub decision easy after getting injured, we looked better after he went off.
  16. That wins the prize as your daftest post yet. The bloke was playing OK and smacked into the hoardings (may have caught one of the ballboys too)-no wonder he had to go off. Never really threatened other than clipping the bar with a deflection-quiet day for Hudson, looked as though he was carrying a knock in 2nd half.
  17. Exactly. Nothing different to what many other teams go thru when changing managers.
  18. So he sorts out the problems and somebody else gets the gig? You are really selling the job. Would you be happy accepting that? Wasn't he already director of football and look where that has got us?
  19. And what about Thompson? Giving him a short term contract with proviso's is hardly an incentive when there are plenty of 2/3 year contracts knocking around with bigger clubs if he is so well thought of within football circles as some have suggested.
  20. Don't know of another poster who keeps posting the same line so often.
  21. Yet evidence proves that historically it takes time to get out of this division no matter what your budget is.
