  1. Every game's an away day Mark!!! In all seriousness (well... this is Latics) away days are much more fun. Got Hudders today. Crewe I will leave for now. Without wanting to tempt fate, or need to buy a tin hat immediately, I would be surprised if we sell out Crewe on Boxing Day.
  2. Personally I find it ridiculous we have signed up to this. We are away at Millwall, a promotion contender on the Sat. We will travel back Sat and perhaps back too late to train Sun. If we are playing Mon evening then there are no training sessions for prep between games with two of our promotion rivals. Disappointed we havent kicked up a fuss, even if it is worth approx £20k (amount for live league game). I just dont see how it will help us. A days break would have been great. Unless there are Prem games / /Champs League games that week, why cant we play on tues on TV. Silly decision. Hope it doesnt cost us
  3. The book about our promotion year was entitled "Keeping the Dream Alive" I think "Keep the Faith" is from a similar era and is a Joe Royle phrase
  4. Lawrie Sanchez has finally lost the plot. Apparently you should now get 4 points for an away win 3 points for a home win 2 points for an away draw 1 point for a home draw This means that whenever there is a draw, despite this being a stalemate between the two teams, one gets more points. I find this really strange. Surely a win is a win and a draw is a draw. It shouldnt matter where you achieve them. I just hope the FA / Football league arent listening
  5. It used to be Richard Taylor who is now our "Commercial Manager". Could still be him as the voice sounds very similar
  6. Having watched the higlights on Virgin Media and thought more about the game on Sat, I still cannot comprehend how we were 2-0 down at half time. Two elementary mistakes allowed us to concede two goals. However, the number of chances we created - Whitts and Taylor in particular - and the disallowed goal that was NEVER offside should have seen us in with a shout and not looking like a beaten side in the second half. There can be no excuse for the second half performance, however I just think the ball is not running for us the way it was a few weeks ago. Back then, Tayls would have scored early doors and Whitts goal would have stood. Improvements are needed, however, keep the faith. We can pull this one round!!!
  7. Lewi = first name on team sheet. Everyone talks about how critical Greegs, Lidds, Hughes are for us. Lewi hasnt started since Hudds at home. Our record is 3 defeats, 1 draw and 1 win (against a team who the Dog and Duck could have beat) without him. Lets get back to basics. Unbelievable he wasnt in the 16 today.
  8. Now, being the person who started the chant at Colchester, I would argue that this is banter to do with a press article. It has nothing to do with his performances. Hey-ho, lets not get facts in the way of a good comment. Clearly your story is much more interesting
  9. We must have created a lot of chances* on Tuesday then as I reckon I can count the number of chances* we created today on my thumb and index finger!! *Chance is defined as an opportunity to put a shot on goal, not playing in front of their back four and not putting random crosses into the box that get easily cleared by their defence
  10. Me too (his body really is a temple) but that was shocking keeping. To reach the ball and to let it go through his hands like that is school boy stuff!!!! Second goal is very very poor defending. Leicester had a similar chance in 1st half on Sat but put it straight at Whitts who was on the line. Rovers player made no such mistake. Hopefully it was one of those nights and we will react on Saturday. We need to start picking points up again. 6 from 6 is not great (and 4 from 4) is not great!!
  11. Hi mate The club are usually very good - normally if you just drop it in at the club shop they will sort it. If you want to go through other means, PM me your number / email address and I will get in touch. Should be able to sort it out. Alex
  12. Yet another unbelievable comment from Latics fans. Its nothing personal but the number of people who have said Greegs is liable for a sending off over the past two weeks is unreal. I read somewhere that his red at Hartlepool is his first since 1999. Now I am happy to be corrected but that is not someone who is liable to be sent off. I agree he is liable for a number of yellows, but I for one cannot remember seeing him sent off in a Latics shirt over the past couple of years!!!
  13. Matchday If you are going to the game tonight, see the other thread and come and meet some of the boys* *defined as mainly overweight men ;-)
  14. I should be there also around 5. Whats the plan for getting out to Stockport?
  15. Not sure if my train stops at Brum. Could do though (as the 5 past usually does). PM me on Thurs with your number and I'll let you know!!
  16. Mark you do tease us with arrangements!! I'll be in either Stockport at 5.10 or Manc at 5.20 depending on what we all decide. Looking forward to this one. Two hours on a train first and a new Threshers in Euston - happy days
  17. I reckon they have moved it round for safety reasons as well. With us in the big bit and them selling 1200, the gap would be very small again in an environment that isn't usually pleasant. If they have the big bit then (if they have any sense) they will only let Hudds fans in the 'I' if they really needs to. We shouldn't even have to think about this but as we have seen, we have some knobs in the RRE this year who clearly don't travel away given the Hartlepool praise
  18. I've done this a few times and it was always fun (having said that I was much younger and you can get away with all sorts). The one that stands out in my mind is Wolves away when we won 3-1. We were 1-0 down at half time and I have never heard so much rubbish. As bad as Scummer fans really. Announced the score as part of half time scores as well!! Anyway we came out and destroyed them. Beresford got the first I think. Then Makin got the second which squeezed over the line. I went mental. Then after realising where I was, sat more calmly only for us to bang in a 3rd and Sean McCarthy to do a "Temple like" backflip in front of us, pointing the whole time. Not a particularly pleasant experience. Others include, City, Bastards, Scummers, Luton, Rushden & Diamonds. There must be more though!!
  19. Good man. You got your ticket sorted? I know there is much to decide about which stand, but there is a more important question. Which pub to stumble to after a two hour train journey?!?!
  20. So you do have previous In all seriousness though. Fair play. You're either very very very very very brave or very very very very very stupid!!!!
  21. At the time it looked like a cracking save and then no defenders followed up. On TV it looks as though he has got too strong a hand on it which is why it hits the bar. If his had was slightly weaker, it would have glanced over the bar. Win some, lose some. In many ways a disappointing result, in many other ways, a fantastic point.
  22. Finances changed ever so slightly on Friday, late Friday!! (oh and credit cards came in handy!!)
  23. Its all about behind the goal. Yeah you might get wet, but at least you can see. That stand down the side is horrendous. Unfortunately, I cant get the day off, but a 2pm finish, into Euston for 3 and into Stockport around 5.15. The home end could be good fun for those without a ticket. Agree an end before hand and congregate. We used to do this at City in the main stand. It was a right laugh (unless we lose which is never a worry at City). I take it most people are hitting the pubs on the roundabout / the shopping street near the ground before hand. I feel a few beers coming on. P.S. I've got 34 mins on LaticsLee
  24. I'm the same now - it would not be a good idea
