Simspon did OK first half before tireng - but he didnt create anything and he had one effort on goal all game which he put well wide. as for Smith No heading ability??? sorry disagree. Against Tranmere he won virtually ever header he contested and its not the only team hes done that agaist - we usally dont have anyone near him to pick these up but how often has he had an out an out striker with him~? No power? watch the liverpool hightlights again and watch him bang Skrtel and Coates all over BP. Look at Everton away when he cames on. Hes very effective in the air his biggest problem is his lack of mobility and that he needs crosses into the box to be effective and we dont do that with any quality. But the 40 yard freekick we were launching from deep last night were crying out for Smith to try and get on the end off. I think that actually some players are confident they wont go down because they think they are better than they are. Another defeat and its the same old story... We dont create enouch chances 2 good chances a half isnt enough.... Preston score and then its pretty much game over except for the keeper going up that was basically a 1 nil loss.. How many is that this season 8-9?? This is going down to the wire one fluke win for either us of Scunthorpe and its game over for the other team fighting against the drop. So much has gone wrong this season.. We should have let Dickov go at Christmas, taking an age to get LJ appointed. Not having enough striking options in the team at the start, no pace in the side etc etc... But even so on paper this team should be mid table.. If the pennny hasnt dropped by now its not going to... only way we can realistically fit baxter in the team is 352 so one can do his defensive duties for him and he can roam about... or as a center mid which can leave us weak in the middle of a 4. Playing him behind a lone front man isnt working for the team... Two out and out strikers up front please Smith and Barnard.. If we can create chances im confident Barnard will finish em but we need some quality in and around the box. Cisak has dropped more than his share of clangers this season - as boozy played well at swindon by all accounts id leave him in. Personally if this had been a week after Carlilse id have been tempeted to go 352 at it just suits us so much more. We can flood the midfield, give baxter licence to roam have smith on to hold the ball while having barnard to hopefully finish things off. K Smith and Grounds/Mellor more than capable of playing wing backs.... Anyway it will probably end up being 442 a we started last week. If Croft is fit id put him RW and if Monty is fit enough give him a run. Forwards Barnard and Baxter but we struggle to retain the ball if we do that... .aggghgh can we name 12 players to start?

This was the only player from the first 11 to actually try and take the fight to carlise.. dont think hes a natural winger but he went on one great run but got 0 support from his team mates. Looks a decent player

We are better suited to 352 to be honest. Grounds (or even Mellor) and K smith are more than capable wing backs. Thats give Baxter license to roam Smith and Barnard up front to hopefully provide some threat. Everytime connor brown got the ball thier manager was screaming at his players to pressure him - he was awful on the ball today well and truly sussed out. ID be happy not to see him again this season (and i have defended him more than once) hes not a bad defender but shocking with the ball at his feet. Part of the reason for us loosing possesion in the build up to the second goal is his complete unwillingness to run into space forward of the ball. He should have been moving into the space instead he stopped waited then tried to go forward but much to late. Simspon also awful if your going to have a plan to kick to a player all the time - it may as well be someone who can win 90% of his headers ala smith - simspon probably wins 50% not a left winger and was poor again. In the first half he tried getting the ball onto his right foot on the edge of the box only to loose poession - woeful at any level

thought the change to 352 helped more than Reids introduction but he did ok more time required to form an opinion

we have only seen a few minutes of him so hard to tell really. First impressions are hes a busy player who will try and get involved and keep play ticking over

to be fair hes a player who needs service and we have been woeful at creating chances all season. Unless Baxter or Croft get a cross in then nobody else does. Smith and Barnard up front for the 2nd half of the season would have seen us do OK i think - problem is then where to fit baxter The balance of the forward line has been wrong all season no pace to stretch teams, no strength to hold it up or play effective long ball... Even at the mo with Jose finding the net with arent convincing going forward

hes never been a goal scorer anyway look at his time at norwich played in a good team 9 goals. Mvoto has 4 goals this season as a defender in a struggling team. Crofty isnt the type of player who gets into the box on a regular basis to make the keeper work and hes no Baxter when shooting from range. Wouldnt mind him to chip in with a few before the end of the season but if he creates some chances for us we will be ok i think...
