  1. And you lot are to blame, to be perfectly honest. Those who moan and attack the players, are forcing the lads to panic, and just lump it forward. Huddersfield were poor. Negative, actually. I thought Ritchie's tactics ruined today's game, and we played well considering the amount of time-wasting etc that was going on. The only things I'd have a dig at today was our decision making and passing. Poor, yes, but we created some very good chances, and were unlucky. I'm disappointed to be out, but are you lot forgetting the mark we've made this season. Jesus, did you expect us to get to the final? We've been beaten rather harshly today, I feel, and the opponents are the only reason why you're annoyed. If we played like that against Everton would you still be calling them "toothless"? I'll answer it for you: No.
  2. We were never meant to send the Toffee's tumbling, but we did. We wouldn't be here 9/10 times, so this is a game that shouldn't ruin anything, which did last season, as it's a bonus. We're bang in the middle, we can still make the P/O's, and there's half the bloody season to go yet. We might 'do a Blackpool'. There's always one every season. Always!
  3. Could we read into that and see Kandol/Beckford have been in talks with other sides?
  4. Mate, I was joking. And, yes, I do. I, personally, see more of Hughes outside of the box/out wide than I do of him in the six-yard box. Fair enough, if you see it opposite, then I can't make you change your mind. However, this again goes back to why we're good away, and poor at home. Away, we stretch high defences, no need for a 6-yard man. But at home, this explains why we're so disappointing - we don't have a man in there. You can't deny that because we've only scored 9 goals at BP; and that's with Liddell for a part of it. Last season, we scored so many due to Porter's presence in the box. He didn't track all over the place, he was in and around the area we're talking about - balls were coming in. I definitely believe that if we got a similar player in, we'd see our goal tally increase. I understand that Hughesy does get there, but it's too rare. Then again, I prefer Lee doing what he currently does.
  5. I wouldn't be arguing with you otherwise. Now, Brighton - Hughesy picked the ball up out wide and ran with it, you fool! He scored from that area only. Porter was a 6-yard box man. Meaning he stays in and around that area. Look at Michael Owen if you don't understand me. Southend, he got a flick-on, iirc, and he worked his way into the box. He wasn't waiting there. I think you're getting confused between where a player plays, makes space etc, and where a player actually scores from. Hughesy stretches defences by coming deep and going wide. Watch him now and again. That's his game, and that's what makes him a good player. He's comfortable doing that, hence why Shez doesn't want to stop him and Davies doing it. Why would he make a player play where they are uncomfortable?
  6. Do you go to our games? Ever? Lee Hughes is a link-up player. He comes deep, lays the ball on, travels out-wide. He gets into the box only when the wingers are up the field. The goals Lee's scored haven't come from when he's been in the 6-yard box, at all. The only ones I can recall, at the moment, is the one down in Millwall. Was you there? His first came from a long-throw into a crowded penalty area. His second, the very same. To back my point up further, who crossed for Taylor down at Bournemouth? I don't know what managers you've seen, but your typical one encourages players to try other things. He doesn't stand there and shout to Davies, "Oi, get into the box and stay there".
  7. I don't think Shez has done owt. The reason why we're in trouble is because we've got (had) 3 strikers who are very much the same; in that they love moving into the channels. Ricketts, Hughes and Davies aren't six-yard box players, one reason why we're unbalanced. You'll never see a manager who tries to change a player's natural style of playing. However, he is trying to encourage Davies to try different things, which he does to every player. So, to me, oafc0000 is quite wrong on that front.
  8. Yeah, I totally agree with you, mate. But I don't expect every 'Tics fan here to agree with what I, or anybody else says just because we support the same side. Some will be pleased with a point last night, some won't, due to the circumstances. However, the amount of attacking etc aimed at other members/players isn't right, at all. If we are going to voice an opinion on something, we should do it so we understand each other.
  9. Happy with the Yeovil point, as we didn't get going, really. I suppose I'm slightly disappointed with the result last night, simply because we created some great chances. However, we could so easily have lost to Yeovil, so this, I suppose, has evened it up. One thing I am delighted with is our 2 clean sheets. It's fantastic the amount we're getting away from home. Sadly, the goal-scoring is a little off, but if Shez does bag a striker, then it may change.
  10. I really want to, and tonight makes me want to even more. However, when it doesn't go for him in the opening few minutes, he looks bored etc and there's no point in him playing. I'm unsure. He needs a rest, I think, a rest and a goal.
  11. We'll go up automatically! We'll go on a mega winning-run, dropping 4 points from now until the end. We pip Leeds by 1 goal, and they go on to crash in the Playoffs. Have I took it too far?
  12. I agree wholeheartedly with palmer1 and Frankly Mr Shankly. We are totally unbalanced at home, where we are expected to go for the away side. In that midfield we have 3 CM's, who aren't attacking players. Macca is, but also sits back, and was made to do a lot because of Mr. Wellens. So, we've got to pass around, and when the fans start to moan because we're "playing too slowly" or "not taking it to them", what happens? We lump it forward, and the fans pressure more because we've lost it. I know we have a right to voice or opinion, but we need to work with what we have. We go out at home not to lose the game, as it's on tehir minds. We need to play how we do away, and I'm sure we'll start getting results We're a fantastic counter-attacking side because of Allott, Macca and JP. Kilkenny was attacking, yes, but if he only had the 2 lads up top to aim at, it was bloody tough. However, he would long it, also. So, when teams come for us, the lads in the middle get the ball and get it forward, but on the floor, where Tayls/Hughesy/Davies can exploit slack defending. Away from home, all of our goals are either from set-plays or perfectly times counters. At home, the lads at the front can't break down a defensive set-up on their own. Hence why we need an attacking creative man. The lack of a man in the box also means we can't get balls into the box at home, but away, their defenders play up the pitch, and we can go through the middle, without needing to get balls across.
  13. We can't just "get the scouts out" because we haven't got that many! However, you can't blame peterjo, because he is, indeed, worried that we'll be left behind. I think most people here are getting a little nervous with the lack of real movement. But, as I have also been relieved to hear, too, most movement does appear to be just before the Market's closure.
  14. Is it sad of me that I checked that calculation to see if it was actually correct?
  15. Is there one of these about? If not, I thought it'd be a bit of fun to get members' thoughts about tonight's game, and the games ahead, I suppose. Saves making loads of different threads. Myself, I think it's gonna be a tight one. I'm going for 2-1 to us, of course. Hughes signs off with a brace, and Davies to have 7 shots and 3 tantrums. So?
  16. Thought he was very good when he came on for Macca on Saturday. Certainly looked a lot more involved, unlike previous games.
  17. Tricky one. However, Tayls is what we want, surely. The passion to play for us? He's good, but he needs to make better options, and he's someone I'd like to hang onto. Vernon has always been 'meh' with me. He scores, but I never held his ability too highly. However, I think he'd get a few goals if he came. Might as well loan him...
  18. BigfinLatic, I didn't say Sheridan has named names. The wording, however, may have suggested that is what I was saying. Apologies. I mean, Shez keeps saying he needs this and that, but he seems to be telling us every few days. So to me, that suggests that he's still looking, and any negotiations that have been ongoing, seem to be stalling.
  19. Ahh, sorry. Well, Sheridan hasn't mentioned any names; he's mentioned positions. However, fans have mentioned many names, which is why I said I was sceptical about the sources these names have come from.
  20. That Skuse fellow is bound to have an eye for a pass; I mean, Shez is always on about bringing in a creative man in midfield, so I imagine he's that type of player. However, I am now actually getting rather annoyed by the amount of promising names being linked with us, albeit from sources which I'm a tad sceptical about, yet we seem to be making as much progress as a sprinter with one leg. What also is annoying me is Sheridan's words. I know he may be finding it very difficult bringing in his targets, but he has got to stop mentioning them. The fans start to think there's a guy around the corner, waiting to sign, then 2/3 days later we're left disappointed. We've 10 days, if someone is waiting to see what else may crop up from other clubs, then 'em. I don't want players who'd rather play elsewhere if they received more money. I can see us rushing on the 30th/31st Jan, bringing in 2/3 players who simple aren't good enough, because we laboured, or stuck with a player, who took his time sorting out personal terms with us.
  21. In no real order. Last: Huddersfield (A) Gillingham (A) Forest (H) Wolves (A) Scunthorpe (A) This: Millwall (A) Everton (A) Leeds (A) Tranmere (A) Burnley (A) - simply for the sheer enjoyment of the game.
  22. That's a very good point, actually. Charlton have also got the scouts out, I read the other day. The thing is, Forest Green are gonna want to get a fair bit for him, so it won't be a £50k and in he comes. They'll want the top end of what we've got to spend, and if he flops? Clarke, at least, has shown us he gets roughly 1 every 2 games. January's not a time to do anything drastic. We just need a couple of players in the positions we've been poor this season; which is a creative man in midfield, and a striker. This LB nonsense is beginning to annoy me. We really don't need one. If we do get one, though, it surely has to be a short loan, just in case Lomax gets a knock.
  23. QPR away. However, I'm someone who doesn't become all depressed away from home, 'cause it's still the excitement about the typical away-day. I sometimes say "Oh, I won't be traveling down here again", but I do. I think everyone says that, but still end up traveling all over. That's the beauty of it. Those Accy fans will be there next week.
  24. I don't like it myself. We've won 7 on the spin with the Tangerine version - stick with that!
