  1. paul jewel micky adams john gregory peter reid mike newell big joe david oleary john aldridge are a few managers out of work....but could they really make a silk purse out of a sows ear!!!
  2. you have to be confident and positive, orther wise you may as well chuck yaself off the civic centre roof!!! i was talking to a leeds fan yesterday, who said we deserved to beat them, and that although there climbing the table the football is shocking.but because there getting results there fans dont care. three make or break games,at the end of them we will either be higher up the league with confidence high,or we will be further down with nowhere to go but up. either way sheridan will have learnt enough from these three games to know who is up for the season or not, those that are not need to be shipped out quickly to free up funds for maybe loan signings that will make a difference. at the end of the day we shall still support the club no matter what happens. hopefully the season starts here!!!
  3. i got told today by 3 different people, who have no reason to lie and 2 of whom are in employment by the club that shez and corney had a bust up before the game. yes he is still here, and long may he continue to be,but he does need to address certain things regarding players and tactics, lets hope it does it tomorrow with a win and the start of one of those 6 or 7 game unbeaten runs.
  4. nowt wrong with going out celebrating a win or drowning the sorrows after a defeat on a saturday. but like has been sad sunday night before a midweek game, a few sherberts is ok.but not getting out ya box and dad dancing. it again goes back to how easy it was to ditch dowies fitness regime wich the players stuck to.
  5. not a bad idea. ricketts gets the knock downs and holds the ball up well, despite what his detractors say on here. hughes isnt fit enough yet,but would defo try davies left taylor right, and wolfy up with rico
  6. players are allowed down time, just like everybody else.however i would of thought that would of been saturday night, with a game on tuesday night. at the end of the day he thinks he is teflon, and the best thing since sliced bread, the only reason he is here is his girlfriend, and the fact he was languishing around in the brum reserves. he hasnt improved since the last time he was here, still thinks he is numero 1. i really hope mcdonald can recapture his early season form from last season, and he and jp hit it off.
  7. tottenham didnt take what jol did last season into consideration did they,or carlisle.and neither will derby or reading when they sack there manager. good thing is it now looks like he is ready to change, brought mcdonald back for tuesday and says other changes may yet be made. now just sit back and wait for the gary mac hate boys to start posting.
  8. the thing is,how many times has shez now said they wont listen to me.its not me telling them to hoof it and i cant understand why they do it. what does that say....hes wasting his time as they wont do as he ask....but then again he wont drop them either,he says he isnt affraid to play kids, but wont give them a chance. might sound harsh but he should fine any player who wont do as he is told,£50 a hoof and they will soon stop it. the only thing i will suggest is that perhaps he has lost the dressing room if they wont listen.
  9. people are quite right,we shouldnt be having this kind of debate or poll.too early....but... football managers jobs rely on results, you dont get the results you go on your way. i have always said give a manager until christmas,if there not performing then, that is the time to get rid. the one thing that really upsets me about shez,is that he has been saying for the last 4 or 5 games he isnt affraid to drop players, make changes for the good of the team. sadly he isnt a man of his word,or he would have changed things around sooner. moaning that players are not listening to him, just drop them, half time is the time to say right, were at home, work there keeper harder, give the fans something to cheer about, but by the sounds of it today he had a glass listening to the oppositions team talk. at the end of the day he is oldham through and through, and wants to do his best, but he was the cheap appointment, promote within, and using an inexperienced assistant. the amigos will be here until the stadium is redeveloped thus wiping debts out, then they will leave, unless there is something to stick around for. sadly i doubt it that shez will be here to manage in the new stadium. off the top of my head managers out of work are john gregory paul jewel peter ried martin allen i am not saying i would like any of these managers, but i think if shez does get the push, they should appoint someone with a lot more experience and technical know how.
  10. i have said in previous threads that shez would benefit from an older wiser head.big joe would be ideal,he knows what this club means to its long suffering fans. plus i may be wrong here, but didnt we play better with philliskirk helping first team coaching??? not saying tommy wright isnt doing it right, just philiskirk is far better in my opinion. warne may not have been prolific, but he at least run his nuts off trying, which at present we dont have anybody doing that, liddell last season was the leagues leading assister.nothing doing this season. like has been said already, pre season was looking good, but kilkenny has since come in and i for one think it has disrupted our midfield completely. during the 2 week break we had i would of hoped shez has sat them all down, and explained in simple terms what is expected and needed, and a re-introduction to basic play. but sadly i dont think he has.
  11. i have to agree, you cant play one of your top players when injured, which would mean dont play kilkenny either as he hasnt been fit all season yet. and yeah, some of our fringe players must be getting really fed up,makes you wonder what they have to do sometimes to get a place on the first team.
  12. i need a lobotomy eh,hahahahah i simply said he deserves a second chance, after all we keep playing taylor hoping he will come good,if you drop him he will wonder why he was dropped,if continually played he will simply think he is doing ok,and never change his attitude. as for our strikers, only porter recently has stood out,you have to go back to ritchie, palmer and marshall for the last decent strikers we had.we always buy strikers who are decent only for them to dry up when they come here. you cant keep playing players out of position, sooner or later you get found out.
  13. clique....lol.i was supposed to be a part of that, ridiculas. sheridan shouldnt be immune from critiscism,he has everything to prove yet as a coach and manager, his legendary status is from his playing days. he was very much the cheap option when ronnie pegged it back to bindipper land. and tta wanted to be seen to be listening to the fans, the fans unanimous verdict was shez. i think his biggest downfall was not getting in someone like big joe as a technical director or guru to help him out, that way he would have the benefit of experience to help him out. i have every confidence that he will eventually turn things around,but.......how long will the owners put up with it,and how much more money will they allow him to spend on mediocre players. in answer to your question of have we improved as a team....then it has to be no!! were back at square one again.
  14. i doubt very much he will be given more funds, from the owners point of view he has had plenty of backing(cash wise) and so far hasnt exactly bought outstanding players. i wish he would change things around. mcdonald deserves another chance, move davies to left wing where he seems to like it,and move taylor to right wing. keep to 4-4-2 but have the l/r defenders moving up to cover midfield positions when we attack. oldham always play best with wingers. and stop hoofing it upfield.get it down and play it along the pitch.
  15. well put, well thought out and a great opinion. sadly i cant see it happening though,i dont think shez has the conviction needed to change things round like that, its far easier for him to play them like he is and shout at them when it doesnt work, ignoring the fact there playing out of position. we were at full strengh last night, and got spanked,he needs to change something.
  16. dress him up in a gorrilla suit.....worked wonders for phil collins!!!
  17. i think if the owners had stuck to there guns and got over the fans moaning, and given him the same budget shez has had, then yes...more than likely we wouldnt be where we are now. but obviously the threat of a thousand fans not renewing tickets was too much for the owners to take, never mind the fact that they had to pay him off, which offset 1k fans leaving anyway. i just can understand why,we have resorted to long ball tactics from the off given that shez was a passing flair style player, and why he seems blinkered to certain players not performing. maybe were not seeing the bigger picture, the defence is almost there, but the stikeforce isnt. you can have the best defence in the world, but unless you start hitting the net it counts for nothing.
  18. anti shez comments??? everybody is entitled to voice there opinion, they pay there money, its there priveledge. now the opinions of about 50 regular posters on this board make not a lot of difference in the grand scheme of things.not everubody that goes to latics games come on message boards. people on here know, that in the long run shez will get it right, and take us further than we have been in recent years, but the vast majority of home fans who dont use boards will have vastly differing opinions. we wont be the ones booing players off,but joe public might. and at the end of the day,you will never know what ronnie moore may or may not have done, look at his second season at tranmere, the table doesnt lie.and he has hardly had any money.maybe just maybe a second season, with the kind of money and backing shez has had it could all be a different kettle of fish. you will never know. that said i hated ronnie moores style of football, wasnt pleasing on the eye,but in certain cricumstances was effective.
  19. is there any room for a de-tuned glockenspiel????
  20. shez's legendary status is only for playing, not managing. in that role he is nowhere near legendary, but in a few years time he could be. its one thing managing the reserves or youth team, but its a whole new ball game managing experienced players with egos and there own idea's of what should happen. the never say die spirit has gone and there is no fire in there bellies,we have gone from playing fast paced flowing football,a trademark of sheridans playing days, into hoof ball.lobbing the ball upto a striker who was a good 6 inches shorter than the defenders. in short we suck...........how long will it take shez to have a go at the fans once we start getting booed off at half time and fulltime playing rank football???
  21. im not advocating we should change the manager, not in the slightest. but questions need to be asked and aswered. we have had a disaster of a start, and were not playing anything like we was last season. yes players have moved on,but fans havent, and they need to get over it. shez hasnt bought well, and that will cost us dearly come january. with the exception of hazell and bertrand, this team has been together since pre-season,so just how much time do they need to gel. if were not carefull we will end up in a vicious cirlcle,of players coming in on mass, and leaving on mass after 1 season, which means no cohesion, and having a manager in charge who is the cheap option.
  22. it was publicly stated that the whole aim of this season was promotion. so no we dont expect the team to be world beaters, but yes definately playoff hopefulls.thats what the club has led us to believe. i got slated a few weeks back for saying if were in bottom 5 at christmas we should change the manager. wonder how many will be asking the same question if we are.
  23. i think he was merely questioning the age thing, and possibly the fact he hasnt played in a game this season. its his opinion, and i must say the opinion of quite a few tics fans in pubs round chadderton. we have had 2 weeks to find a replacement, maybe not a lot of time in some peoples eyes, but more than enough in others. i think if the keeper had been someone like grant then you would have had 100% onside. yes its only for a month, but just say it turns out like andy gorams second spell.we could be bottom of the league again and out of cup competitions couldnt we.
  24. whilst i agree that you cant knock experience, there has to be a slight cause for concern that he is the only keeper we can get. i know shilton played past 40,but one of the main attributes of a keeper is lightening reflexes and agility. i hope he turns out to be a blessing in disguise and a catalyst to push on.
