  1. im surprised anybody turned up at all, knowing for the past 2 weeks it was being deffered anyway!!! i agree that the club should now be putting weekly posts regarding the new meeting out on the main site. yes it is a dissapointment, but im sure the outcome will eventually be favourable. as for the elk mill roundabout.yes it is a nightmare for anybody using that part of broadway, traffic actually backs up from elk mill to royton centre most days,so can you imagine the gridlock caused during midweek games, that is what the highways are looking at. but then again the council already knew this when they approved the elk mill site in the first place.
  2. the seats should be blue and tangerine surely. and those who will be in the new main stand will have a cracking view of the new scoreboard/telly thingy. maybe we need to run onto the pitch to meatloaf from now on then.cwt
  3. great news if it finally happens.the council will always want sweetners, thats how they work but if there a viable option and the club gets what it wants then great. also i remember when they rebuilt the rre, they did build it so it could be a 2 tier if needed. but like has been said i doubt we would see it at full capacity. plus with the egg chasers looking at building there own stadium we should be able to finally achieve a playing surface capable of free flowing fast paced passing football :p
  4. im sort of guessing it would be a football side.lol not sure who they would have though??? who would the latics side consist of then???
  5. why doesnt 96.2 the revolution cover our games then??? or maybe now that rupert murdoch has gashed up sky sports news for all of us,that channel m could do maybe a saturday sports update show, just covering all the local teams. also you could get your own back by way of getting a good cup run going then when linekar and his goons want to cover one of our games we could ban them from bp,lol
  6. anybody got a sniff of prices for these flats there building, and if you get a complimentary season ticket chucked in.lol
  7. arent they changing the main stand around once the new stand is built??? i thought that was the case,if so then the furtherwood road homeowners cant moan as they wont get the coaches arriving on matchdays and all the other traffic the main stand creates. cant wait, finally moving with the times, yes it will be sad to see bp not as it has always been, but it is the only way for the club to survive.
  8. you have just contradicted yourself by saying home ends are for home fans,so there really cant be any excuse for away fans being in those ends. the directors box is different matter. im 40 years old and if an away fan was in the close vicinity to me and my son and wasnt behaving i would rightly smack him one. if people had turned the other cheek when we got promoted years ago by beating sheff wednesday there would have been a blood bath.20 or so wednesday fans in the bottom of the chaddy end punching anybody that moved.women and children. i suggest you dont drink as many beers next time, lol
  9. i started taking my lad when he was 6,just make sure he doesnt drink loads before the game, and he goes to the toilet before kickoff.take a big bag of sweets, and be prepared to field an avalanche of questions. my lad loves it,and as long as you tell him what goes on inside a football ground stays there all should be ok.there are 2 oldham fans in my sons school, the rest are reds and blues who havent been to a live game,he just looks down his nose at them, lol.
  10. there are quite a few latics fans in middleton and surrounding areas, after living there for 12 years i always used to read about latics in the middleton guardian. the club also get promoted on bbc gmr and 96.2 revolution. simple fact is if people dont want to come they wont,so from the clubs point of view why waste good money on advertising when they know it doesnt payoff. if the chron run a promotion for city or united tickets there is a stampede, but for ours we usually end up giving them asway free to schools.just a simple fact of life and nothing to do with the club or how it promotes itself.
  11. there right in one respect though.this team isnt good enough is it. my first game was in 72 season, when i was 5!! rodger wylde, now he could defy gravity with his hanging in mid air jumps. and yes i remember the pinch me years very fondly, and some of the players we had really did have a never say die attitude and spirit, you just knew if we went 1 or even 2 down we would pull it back. but they certainly were'nt the norm.they were extrodinary. the norm is how we know it,mid table mediocraty for the most part, with the odd flirtation with the top 6,and more than enough of flirting with the bottom 4. its a lifelong commitment, players come and go,good and bad,but at the end of the day the fans will always be there, and you can never take away there memories, its part of the clubs legacy
  12. quite correct some of the football under joe was awesome and outstanding, but some was also pretty dire as well, but then again thats just football. i voted that we shouldnt even be thinking about it. we have had bad luck with injuries, but you cant keep using that as an excuse, you would of thought with what happened at the end of last season we would have a large squad this time round, but we just aint got substantial cover of anybody who can come in and make a difference. on his day stam is great, but the last 2 seasons he has been a liability with his injuries, not his fault but also not the fans fault. shez knows how good the likes of trotman and the other young uns are,i think he just needs some conviction to play them instead of the so called big players,as its obvious they havent learnt from missing out on promotion,so drop them to show them there not indispensable. i think he could learn a lot from a wiser older head, someone like big joe to maybe act as mentor
  13. carslile sacked there manager after 1 game, which they drew!!! people are entitled to there opinion be it right or wrong, and at the end of the day no matter how much he has done for our club over the years sentiment doesnt come into it. if the board feel we are moving backwards they will act to save the clubs welfare. imho if he still isnt doing it by christmas time then he would have to go,in the hope someone can turn it round before a relegation issue.simple economics i have every confidence he will get it right, but you have to admit some of his decisions have of late been dodgy, and he keeps talking about changing things because of players attitudes, but then doesnt. he cant say it isnt his squad now as he has brought these players in,so he will be judged accordingly.
  14. you seem to have made your mind up he isnt man enough for the job,or cant motivate the squad. so you tell us who you want to turn it round then,i dont think changing managers this early is justified, unless the 3a's are not happy,if were still struggling by christmas and he still cant motivate them then yes, change it.
  15. well there not there to underperform either are they. obviously yes its about opinions and when your 2-0 down at half time to the lowest club in the whole league you are allowed to sound off, thats what being a fan is all about, you love your club so much it hurts when it goes wrong. maybe he should of been man enough to admit the fans were right for having a go,as we did play rubbish in the first half, but i think we turned it around in the second so the fans can see we are making an effort for them.....or words to that effect.
  16. i think you may find gregan and crossley are the problems in the dressing room. gregan more than likely as he comes across as being the big i am,and i think shez has his hands full with that.plus the younger players will be too scared to say anything to him as i imagine he can be very overbearing. i may also be talking hornswaddle, but something aint right in there.
  17. [quoteSorry Ed but Crossley cannot be blamed for todays performance the lad had nowt to do. Shez has brought in the replacement players and its down to him to get the best out of them , after all he is the man in charge. didnt say i blamed him for today did i??? just merely pointing out that he is too old and should be used more in a coaching capacity and used as a sub, with pogs being number 1 today he only had one shot to save, and he didnt did he.
  18. too ambitious??? sorry mate but how many times have we been told since end of last season that we are building a squad for the sole purpose of promotion,by shez, the players, the board everybody. if you dont have ambitions then why the hell bother in the first place. the owners wont give him anymore money,so im sorry but he has used what money he has had unwisely. the only other problem is pogs was dropped for not performing,so why isnt crossley being dropped, hes the last line of defence after all. and before i get pulverised for being pessimistic,im far from that,im just a realist.
  19. im busy with my kids tuesday or i would have gone, cant get out of it. however i think these get togethers are just a back slapping night,as no one ever stands up and says it how it is do they. i hope someone does though as i think a few questions need answering as to what is going wrong at the moment.
  20. hopefully the plans will be approved.sounds daft but if the club offered to retarmac broadway they would probably go through. at the end of the day the traffic restrictions around bp are down to the council anyway, they put the speed bumps in place, and the mini roundabout, and closed off the bottom of furtherwood road. but i suppose thats the clubs fault for being there. as for other facilities.shocking really. they have closed chadderton baths because of a dangerous roof which would cost 250k to fix,but they have unveiled plans for a new purpose built leisure centre incorperating the baths, the library and other things at a cost of 5 million.there is nothing wrong with the library, the only reason the council is doing this is because the library, old police station and old baths are worth a fortune as real estate. this towns been dead for years, yet our concil tax always rises to pay for the closure and abandonment of other services we need.
  21. which parks exactly?? i know foxdenton park is ok as i take my children there, and chaddy park,as i play bowls there. however i havent been in werneth park for something like 15 years, after i was chased out by a gang of asian youths.telling me it was there park now. the same with alexandra park, which in its heyday when i was a kid was a fantastic park, the boating lake, the ferry, the cafe and the annual bonfire show. tandle hills park is a disgrace, there is so much oppertunity to turn it into something special but it is neglected, there used to be a small animal park there but now nothing. as for other facilities where are they??? if you want to watch a film you have to go to rochdale, bury, ashton or manchester, same with bowling. other towns have these a plenty and are thriving, our town is just a dump which people dont want to waste there time and money in.
  22. total legends, spot on you could also have carl palmer, nicko mcbrain, bill bruford. but not the lad from the chaddy end, sorry.
  23. i have lived in chadderton and middleton, and out of the 2 i would pick middleton if i could. oldham has gone to the dogs,we used to have a market that was the best in england.now its not even the best on oldham. national service....too many do-gooders to bring it back. they should do from the age of 16 until your 21,then if you dont geta job withing 12 months just enlist them. change the drinking law to 21 as with the smoking law.and all under 16's off the streets by 6pm. then maybe the place might be a little safer. call it draconian measures, but something startling needs to be done. if the stadium gets knocked back its the end for this club, the owners wont waste anymore time or money, and that would be a real shame.
  24. its a valid competition with a wembly final.this one is more for the fans, but there is still money to be made from it.it all helps no matter how little. and yes, always play the stronger side if you get off to a losing season, likes been said winning breeds confidence, something we are sadly lacking in at the moment.
  25. looks like harsh words were said at half time then eh. credit where its due,and its always nice to win,no matter who you play. well done wolfy.
