  1. Agreed, It's based purely on sale. That said, how many people would buy one of those Oldham v Hudds/Rochdull/Bury? I once emailed the club and asked if they could make a plain blue/white scarf in 2009 to encourage it a bit more an arrange a sort of scarf-raising song. Didn't all go together but it certainly worked: they sold them for 2-3 weeks. Sen
  2. If you have such a problem with it, buy it but keep it at home as memorbilia. I don't see why in the name of God you would have a problem with it unless you're so insecure about who support it pains you.
  3. Fill in the missing gap: "Great shot there by the ............ Oldham side" 1. struggling, 2. third-division, 3. underdog, 4. relegation-threatened, 5. Dickov's fighting, 6. once-premier league, 7. should-be walkover
  4. I was more implying kids-kids as opposed to the 12-17 age group - which is a big part of the singing group, you're right. I guess going ahead with the Facebook page set up, getting a bit more organisation grounded and official support from the club would be the steps to really seeing this go ahead. Scheiße! We've been found it!
  5. The way he was presented it made it sound as if this British way you're pretty sure about is just sitting down not doing a lot when - as we both know - it's the opposite of that. I moved back there to take the jobs of Germans and say "Bloody English comin' over 'ere, takin' our jobs!" And an agenda? I love Latics! I just want to see this idea finally go ahead after years of moaning, pissing on the ideas of the younger fans and picking out anyone who might have an interesting proposal. Not to mention seeing the results first hand of what these proposed ideas bring. We sit around a table made of sausages drinking jugs of Pils whilst laughing about ze English und how crap zey are! Come off it. Ho-hey, José. I'm talking about their form of fan support at matches, not who they are or what they've portrayed themselves doing. As much as I agree with you, it isn't what I was getting at.
  6. There is no "British" way... Cool for the support though.
  7. Trust me, I know. If you want my reply, keep repeating the quote in your signature to yourself. Plus, who gives? We can't make a bigger push-over/joke of ourselves than we already are doing in the league or with just a beating drum for 90 minutes with nobody singing. Go to an FC United match, seriously. See the power of working-class football fans.
  8. As much as I admire your form of inspiration, I think it's a load of pessimistic crap. English/Welsh fans have a hard time because we haven't soaked it in properly like the rest of Europe: agreed. But it's this crappy pessimism which just reflects English/Welsh fans. How is it not the way when it's wanted by many fans and offers a billion doors to us? Why can't we make a name of ourselves instead of that club that's crap or has something to do with the race riots? Latics do sing, Latics do have a drum. But what the hell is wrong with making our weekly hobby an entertaining event which makes people think "Man, maybe we should do that?" Look at FC United: a thousand leagues under the sea, no own ground so to speak and they have probably the best fans in the entirety of the leagues (don't quote me on that). You know why? Because they looked at Europe and said "Let's do it." And they did. They have more flags than a UN conference and are FAR more entertaining than Latics fans - sorry, lads. Kids, women and the elderly join in (yes, these barriers sadly still exist in 2013). Can we do that? We scrape the barrel. They can inspire and we can barely get an attendance unless we're forced to play a Premier League team - and even some of those tickets when to Liverpool fans in the Oldham stands! If you feel like that go and sit in the main stand or sit down and clap along in a corner of the Chaddy/RRE by all means. But, Christ, don't be such a pessimist when it comes to something different or more exciting. It's no wonder this thread has been hovering for about 5 years - I've even created one myself! Keep the faith and show it as well.
  9. Why is it that when English/Welsh fans try to form an ultra group it always look... Naff?
  10. The one with the muscles and the spandex pants throwing in Latics references? Yes, that was me,
  11. We currently blog about it in Starbucks whilst the match is on. It's too cold to stand there the 90 minutes, who would do such a thing?! I'd value myself as a bit more of an expat, rather a half-native with the freedom to move back. And we also have a train or two for travelling around. Hey, when they play against Union Berlin and Hertha (HAHAHAHAHA) then it saves me a travel on the Deutscher Choo-Choo. I can smell the twatiness from here.
  12. We have to ask the interwebbenmeister for a 10 minute slot. I don't have much time! Thanks for the updates. I'd comment on it all but it's just what everyone else is thinking: how will the league 2 logo look on next years shirts?
  13. Sankt Pauli-Frankfurt ultra calling in. Good luck! Without it songs die out so quickly. Two verses and the singing is done. At least the drum adds some continuation. Everyone knows of the Latics-two-verse-syndrome.
  14. Thanks for the mini updates. Any detail is welcome. Any. We should have that engraved outside the ground.
  15. I've been lost deep in Germany for some time. I literally have no idea how Latics have been doing so somebody please update me. What's gotten Latics to this place on the table? How have we looked playing this season? Will the Oldham v Liverpool match be on TV?
  16. To stop the same question being asked, all clubs in the Npower leagues use this website template. Oldham don't created it independtly.
  17. Amazing stand name, even if it's a company. Nothing says we'd fall that lucky though like this said team. Back in my day, when the summers were longer and the ice cream was colder!
  18. The Andy Goram Stand. It should be after someone memorable and who else other than a Scotsman who let in 7 against Cardiff City?
  19. Looks terrible. Filling a big space with windows. I guess it's better than no stand - the only reason I'd say "Yes." Reminds me a lot of the BayArena.
  20. I think I posted this idea about 3 years ago. Glad to see fans are really starting to pump up the atmosphere a bit, bring a bit of continental tune to BP. Have a look at Sankt Pauli's Ultras if you want some more inspiration.
  21. Perhaps for a match or two. Everyone will be lost in the "wow, Oldham played a good team" phase which followed Everton. It'll mostly be young people who do but, after they realise Oldham doesn't play Liverpool every other weekend, the attendance will slump back down to its usual.
  22. These posts have been propping up for years. He'll be in a wheel chair before he makes it to Boundary Park - that's if Latics are still playing there if/when he does.
