  1. Heard from fam that he was really struggling to break into the squad at each club he went to.
  2. For those who remember, what was the general opinion on the 96-98 kit when it was released?
  3. Latics in blue-white-blue... Not sure if I like it. Find it pretty unique though. I think since 2008 we've had some really decent kits. The badge looks somehow out-of-place...
  4. When will we be able to get a picture of this shirt?
  5. They announced a while ago that this season's are already on sale at a much reduced price. Can't remember how much but they're fairly cheap.
  6. Still it looks a lot more professional than the others we've had.
  7. Changes can always be made for those who sit in the main stand
  8. In celebration of the end of an extremely memorable season, I made these two Facebook banners free for anyone to use: A mock of United's "CHAMPIONS" banner. I thought I'd leave their hashtag in there to annoy any arm chair fans who dislike it.
  9. Corney gives little money out, people blame the manager and we then sack him. Shouldn't we be looking at Corney's position instead of blaming a manager who's been dealt a :censored: hand? Tired of seeing players who do a year at Boundary Park. Really hope it won't be like that next season but I can't see it any different (at least not yet). Bring on the Summer and Johnson's changes! Sadly us being :censored: also leads to not being able to watch us at all.
  10. Remember that 6-1 against Mansfield. Pretty much the year I became a Latics fan. I remember wondering why everyone liked David Eyres at the time after I saw Wijnhard score 4. I won some tickets and went to my first match against Cardiff City at home (2003 half), which we lost 7-1. Would seriously be interested in seeing that again if you have it. Andy bloody Goram!
  11. Found it :censored: how, after finishing Liverpool & Everton off, he was still benched. He'll be off, no doubt. Shame but he did great for us and he's earned himself a place in Latics' history.
  12. Have the club sent a letter of grave warning about possible youths running on the pitch - wait for it - before the final whistle has gone?!
  13. They're not at all, it's just some ridiculous tabloid bull:censored:. I think 24hours hit the nail on the head with why they might feel offended: the you are not welcome connotations from far-right like the EDL. True. It would be 300 years later that the Prophet Muhammed came into the picture and then, much later, the Ottoman Empire (or the "Turks").
  14. I've heard that too... Wikipedia says a Greek born in Palestine.
  15. Wouldn't mind visiting the Molineux considering the size. Blackburn & Wolves.
  16. A Palestinian famous for slaying a dragon who proved England is full of naive Christians. He deserves a day of celebration for that. A request I got a few years back:
  17. Real rich from a club that visited a school the previous day only to penalise every youngster the next. Class move, that. I wish I could say I have...
  18. I'm really tired of this scapegoat. It's always the "kids." Not long ago, I was one of those "kids" watching the likes of Neil Kilkenny and Lewis Alessandra slot in the odd goal between their on and off stints. My last year of being one enabled me to get a season ticket for a nice 50 pound, which seemed more than reasonable. But now I'm older, I dislike shaving every other day and I have to fork out 20 pound a week. Let's start at the beginning: Latics has a large following of young supporters which attend the home games week-in, week-out. They are the next generation of people who will go to watch Oldham and grow up to be the likes of the well-known on here. They'll be the fans who are "proper" fans - not just the odd Oldham favourer. Now their lives will consist of good football outside of Boundary Park, as it did for me. Real Madrid, Manchester United, Manchester City, Messi, Van Persie, the Champions League, etc.. Today their football world is the biggest and brightest spark in the match box. It's pumped on steroids and fed to them through Sky or the FIFA game series. A lot of fans seem to find their actions a bit too extreme or not worthy of Latics' standards. A lot of fans also don't mind it and find it great that we have an energetic, willing-to-sing following of young people. But when something goes balls-up, it always seems to land on their heads. Especially in terms of today's running on the pitch. They've now been handed this "vandal" label which will be "reviewed on CCTV" for simply running on the pitch. How many Latics fans would be able to say they never did it? I certainly ran on the pitch was younger and got to meet Chris Taylor in the process. It was all harmless fun in keeping up an age-old tradition. We caused no damage and neither did the large group who ran on today, so it seems. But they still receive this negative label and those complaining are so stupidly commenting like it would never have happened. It happens every season! No matter how many stewards you put there, kids will still run on, and for those saying what they should and shouldn't do it is just as much as their club as it is yours. Don't force what you believe on other people - especially those with a wild spirit for a wild club. And this stupid stunt from the club is such a shamble that we should be laughing at it. They're now pretending that the 10 quid ST was a permanent move... What a load of bull:censored:! We should be blaming the club for this stupid act. It was just a punt to try and bring in more fans but, of course, those dangerous 14-year-olds need to be punished for stepping on the grass! If anything, we should now be poking fingers at the club showing how much they really care about the future of Latics. They moved it down clearly knowing this would happen. You have to remember that Oldham Athletic is a business and like any business it can pull quick ones. I wish we had a cup run which earned us around 1 mil to pay for such a fine... Oh wait! The treatment they receive from stewards is also pathetic. When I went to watch the MK Dons match, it was almost shocking to see the drummer getting his drum taken off him just for drumming... And what made it worse that another fan was kicked out just for trying to intervene - nothing violent, nothing aggressive. Just reasoning with them. As for the police filming these 14-year-olds, is that REALLY what it's come to? Do they have to face being watched like a group of prisoners on their break? The biggest act they commit is that of standing up because they want make some :censored:ing noise. Without them, Boundary Park would be dead apart from the loyal people in the Chaddy or the Rocky Road heroes. How will treating fans like this encourage our already low attendances to nudge up a little? Passions get high during games and expressing it is being clamped down on with each match that passes. The youngsters of today will not be the future of tomorrow if this carries on. The memories of being kicked out, told to sit down and having your drum taken away won't produce any more fans than it will enemies. Man United and City are just a Sky channel away. It seems our club are handing them the :censored:ing remote. Done.
  19. I don't understand what's wrong with going on the pitch at the end of the season? Once the final whistle has gone I personally see it as fine. I did it when I was younger, I wouldn't do it now, but if someone wanted to go on, be they 10 or 100, then let them. Humans tend to feel very :censored:ing excited after an entire football season of anticipation watching Latics. It's our club: go and enjoy it! It's not even like it's just an Oldham thing: clubs from all over the world do it, never mind just Oldham. In 20 years time, I bet any money that standing up at matches will face these sort of problems. The Crawley coach thing though is ridiculous. Ban the lot. Were any pictures of it posted on Twitter or FB?
  20. It's been said a million times but people want to see a bit of glory. They don't want to watch a tier 3 club battle for relegation or mid-table every season. As anti-Latics as it sounds, that's the truth. We even gathered that from the thread recently asking why our attendance from the Asian community is so low. All you have to do is pay for a Sky subscription and you can watch your team play in huge stadiums with surround sound, a beer and the comfort of your own home. Compare that to when I was a kid: I remember coming home early from a game against Crewe my dad took me to and not being able to feel my feet it was that cold (blisters and all sorts). I know I'm nowhere near as old as some codgers on here but it was clear a few years ago what was going to happen. Those Arab commentators should be knighted for how interesting they make the games sound.
  21. Do the club know about this? Just brilliant. Love how it looks when paused at 1:24.
  22. Having said that, after looking at Fleetwood Town's ground... Ah right. Jackets only then.
  23. ^ The roof covers the fans and their seems to be very large wind guards. The only issue I could think of is will it not look a little out of place? The Chaddy and Main Stand still reflect the 1980/1990s era. Fair enough for the RRE, it fits in anywhere, but the other two are dated a bit. It'll definitely look unique in comparison, that's for sure.
