  1. But he is trying to get the wrong players in, he is looking at championship standard players who are unwilling to drop to this level or unwilling to take a drop in wages. He needs to lower his standards a bit, yes it would be fantastic to get in the players he wants but they wont come here, he needs to start looking at players who will.
  2. Crossley 7 - did well Eardley 7 - did ok. Some of his distribution was poor though. Not helped by having no-one playing in front of him Trotman - 7 - Did ok but like Eardley some of his distribution was poor Stam 7 - made a couple of mistakes but on the whole did ok Hazel 5 - not his fault though, he is not a full back and certainly not a left back Taylor 6 - he's quick, all he needs to do is run at his man, he as up against Sinclair today who has no pace which is why burnley let him go, all taylor had to do was kick the ball past him and then run after it. Putting him on the right is not the answer, he still can't but decent balls in the box consistantly McDonald 7 - Was asked to play on the right for some of the game which didnt help him. It's not his fault if none of the other players see his runs, he made some excellent runs into the box today, especially in the first half Allot 7 - did ok, but not as well as he has been for the last few weeks. Needs a creative player alongside him Kalala 6 - did was he does well. He gets under the oppositions feet but when he does win the ball doesn't always use it well Smalley 7 - thought he did ok today after a shakey start, i prefer him through the middle than out on the right, think he would do ok alongside Hughes. Desperately needs a goal to get his confidence up Davies 6 - did ok, didn't really get many decent balls in to him to do much with. Not so long ago he was everyones favourite player but a few weeks of not scoring and not playing as well as he can and most people are on his back blaming him for everything Wolfy 7 - i like him, would like to see him alongside Hughes or playing out wide for us. He will play well for us as long as we dont lump the ball in the air to him I thought we played well in the first half, we were all over them and did everything but score but we were pretty poor in the second half. I'm gutted we lost, we had an excellent chance of another huge game against a big club and we blew it. But onwards and upwards hopefully 3 points on Tues
  3. The police were too busy causing chaos on the car park behind the lookers
  4. Sheridan has money to spend, he has been told he can have the money we got from Everton. In my opinion he is going after the wrong players, he has to lower his standards, he is going after championship rated players and they either will not drop down a division or will not lower their wage demands. He needs to bring in players who can play in this league. I'm sure he will bring some players in and the sooner the better. The players we have at the moment are all decent enough but they all know that they are going to get a game because there is no-body else. Also he needs to play with two wingers at home, there was no width today whatsoever
  5. I agree with a lot of what you have said, especially the bit about the kids. I go to watch my nephew, he's 7 years old and the way some of the coaches and parents behave makes me very sad, they are pushing the kids too hard, telling them to dive, telling them to push other players, screaming their heads off at them when they do something wrong and how rubbish they are if they loose. It doesn't paint a very nice picture for the future of football. I will always go and watch latics though, sometimes its out of habbit than anything else though, but then something always happens to re-ignite my enthusiasm like at Leeds a few weeks ago. The game is changing, not really for the better in my opinion but unnfortunately us the fans can't do anything about it. Its all money now and i wouldnt be surprised that within the next couple of years a league club will go out of business which will be the start of a very slippery slope which will see quite a few clubs follow
  6. Where is he going? I think this is about his level really, maybe a lower championship side but no higher. He is a very good player for us though, he has real pace and is willing to run at players which causes league one defenders all sorts of problems, he just needs to get his head up a bit more instead of trying to take the entire team on. I do find it very strange that he has gone from being a fans favourite only a couple of months ago to now people now saying he shouldn't be in the team, just shows how fickle football fans are! As soon as he starts scoring again people will be back to saying how fantastic he is
  7. Abusing them no, a bit of shouting from the crowd they have to get used to. The way Smalley was treated a short while ago was pathetic, the same with the way Forbes and Butcher were treated not all that long ago. I just think that there is more to our poor home form than just some moaning fans. Anyway hopefully Shez and the players can it right in time for Saturday. Now that Taylor is back it will give us the option to play two wide players in Smalley and Taylor which will give us some width, with Allot playing out on the left, it seems to work ok away but at home there is not enough width in the team as he drifts inside too much
  8. If you read my post fully i did put at the end of my post "Unnfortunately we have some young, inexperienced players in our team who haven't yet learned how to cope with the crowd, they will do though, just takes time." Fact is if they want to keep their place in the team they need to learn now. I know it sounds harsh but its their job. If we could get some more experience in the team then it would come easier for them and the likes of Smalley etc would be able to come through to the first team gradually. Shez needs to get their confidence up and get one of the more experienced players in the team to take charge on the field and not let there heads drop when things don't go there way. Eardley is captaining the team and has played international football, his confidence should be sky high and i think we will see a different Taylor after his injury, he should come back refreshed and hopefully his lack of confidence in running at defenders that he's had so far this season should be a thing of the past
  9. Exactly, people moaning is a very handy excuse for our poor home form. Like it or not its part and parcel of football. I heard a lot more moaning at players the season we got promoted to the old first division, it didn't effect the team them, in fact i remember one game and one player had been getting a load of stick all through the game, he scored with about 10 minutes left and ran over to where we stood and said "not bad eh" to those who had been having a go at him all game. Gregan has done similar things earlier this season as well. That is the way to deal with moaners, prove them wrong. Unnfortunately we have some young, inexperienced players in our team who haven't yet learned how to cope with the crowd, they will do though, just takes time. Ronnie Moore said something very similar a few months before he left and got slated for it, yet most people seem to be agreeing with Shez now that he has said it
  10. But how can we get players who are good enough to play at championship level? They will be on more money than we can afford and i doubt they would be willing to drop to a mid-table league one club. We need players who have to ability to play in league one and who will be willing to drop to our level
  11. Well said. We offered him a contract he didn't accept it, so what, thats up to him. Can anyone actually prove that another club in England offered a contract as good as the one he got from Motherwell? They are doing well in the league and have a chance at qualifying for europe if they finish 3rd (i think). He has serious injury problems which means he can't guarantee to playing football for years to come and should they flair up at the wrong time would cause him to fail a medical.
  12. If they've got anything about them it will make them try harder to prove him wrong and keep their place in the team
  13. It wasn't long ago that people were saying Davies is too good for league one and he's one of the best strikers we've had in ages and he was going to get 20-30 goals this season!! Now i'll admit im not Daves biggest fan but he and Hughes are the best two strikers we have at the moment and at this level Davies is a good forward. With his speed he will always cause defences problems. Yes he's greedy and doesn't get his head up and yes sometimes he tries to do to much on his own and yes his distribution can let him down at times but what do you want from a young striker in the third division? If he could do everything he wouldnt be playng for us would he. He seems to be lacking slightly with confidence at the moment and fans getting on his back every two minutes during the game wont be doing him any good. Isn't he still our top scorer this season?
  14. Agree with that 100%. If people expect loyalty from the players then the very least the players can expect is some loyalty shown to them
  15. I'd keep them all. With a decent defence in front of him Pogs is a very good keeper at this level. Keep Crossley too If we get another striker in i would try and get Wolfy out on loan for the rest of this season as he needs some first team football to enable him the progress. Kelly i've not seen that much, just a couple of youth and reserve team fixtures this season and last and he looked ok, hasn't played any first team games for us except pre-season so its difficult to say about him. I know Lids isn't popular on here but if we are getting a big striker who is good in the air then Lids will be able to put decent balls in the box for him all day long, you have to remember at the beginning of the season we had Ricketts who wanted the ball in to his feet and Davies who isn't the best in the air so Lids had no-one to aim for. If we get a big striker in and Lids comes back from injury i think people will notice the difference Smalley we should definatly keep, he could go far McDonald/Trotman/Stam should keep all three, they are very good players Alessandra, a one year deal and try and get him out on loan for a few months this season Lomax keep, though i doubt he will be first choice, so it depends whether he is willing to stay and fight for a place
  16. I sold him for £1.5m to city and then Eardley to wigan for £2.4m. I couldnt get rid of Davies though! Wolfy is fantastic on it, scored 25+ every season! I would reckon the 2 enquires we've had have got to be for Eardley and probably one of Davies/Taylor/Smalley
  17. It reminded me of Burnley when i saw it as well! It's the best one from the 4 though
  18. I'm fairly certain that you have to wear any registered kit a set amount of times. I think its something like 5. I could be wrong though but i'm sure this was the case a couple of years ago. I don't really like any of the options for the new kit but if i had to choose it would probably be either 2 or 4. I don't buy away kits anymore though, they change too often.
  19. And if thats peoples reason for having a go at him for 90 mins then thats up to them but how can those same people then moan at people for having a go at players for the same reason just because they happen to agree with them this time? BTW im not saying people are right in having a go at the players all time, the people who do really annoy me. It can't be doing them any good. Unnfortunately it happens at every ground up and down the country and is not something that is going to go away any time soon. As we have such a young starting line up at the moment i think it effects them more as they are not used to it. If players think they get a lot of stick they should try being a ref!
  20. Why do you feel having a go at Moore is different than having a go at a player? If something thinks that someone is having a shocking game and has a go at him then how is that different than people having a go at Moore because they thought his tactics were rubbish? I'm not saying that people should sit there in silence, the odd shout of come on you can do better than that, or to shez the get them going or that a sub should be brought on is fair enough. But constantly having a go at either a player or manager can't really do much good
  21. You get supporters who moan at every ground accross the country. I don't shout rubbish to them when they are playing bad, i doubt that helps them very much. But if players don't like it then the best way for them to shut them up is to play well. I know it wouldn't shut all of them up, when Ricketts scored in the first few minutes of the first game of the season some still felt the need to have a go at him whilst he was celebrating the goal!! I think because we have such a young squad it effects them more. If you look at Gregan and Lids who have both had a fair amount of stick since they have been here they don't let it bother them, the likes of Taylor, Smalley etc they are not used to it but sadly it is something they will have to get used to if they are to make it in the game Out of curiosity how many on here were having a go at Moore whilst he was here? I know a few people who sit near me who never stopped having a go at him during games are now telling people to stop having a go at the players but they were doing exactly the same a couple of years ago to Moore
  22. He has been suspended recently but i think he was available for the Arsenal game but didn't manage to get in the squad. He has played a few games this season but mainly due to others being injured/suspended. They have McCann who plays similar to Spicer and he is better than him so can't see him getting in the first 11 on a regular basis. The Burnley fans don't rate him one bit and most would be glad to see him go. I've always rated him when he has played against us, a stint back in league one would do him no harm in my opinion, get his career back on track with some first team football and fulfill the potentional he promised a couple of years ago. His contract is up at the end of the season too
  23. He probably means it's left one of the "big 4" to go on and win the competition whereas had Everton/Blackburn won they would have had chance to go on and possibly win it
  24. I didn't expect the club to drop the prices but i think they should have done. £15 in all stands would have got more people to come. Perhaps they could have done a deal similar to what Burnley did for the Arsenal game, reduced prices but you have buy a ticket for another home game as well. If we play really well between now and then we might get a half decent crowd but i wouldn't expect more thn 7000 latics fans and i can't see Hudds selling out. Hope i'm proved wrong though and we get a full house RE the season ticket holders getting reduced prices, they still owe them one from when loads got locked out of the free game (not that the free game as a bad idea, it was a very nice gesture from them but in hindsight it should have been organised better), they said they will make it up to them as far as i can recall they haven't done yet.
  25. Can't see it being a full house unless ticket prices are drastcally reduced. But its a winable game and hopefully we'll be in the draw for the 5th round
