  1. It would be nice to see a little incentive, like others have said i doubt whether a scheme like they had at Bradford would work but they could perhaps offer a 20% discount on a season ticket in 09/10 season should you buy a season ticket for next season and we get promoted.
  2. I was thinking the same about Lids. I presume he will just be put on the bench if we have no-one else available and only used in an emergency
  3. I've seen him a few times, though not that many times this season, and i think the potential is there and he just needs to get his head down and put some hard work in
  4. Does anyone know many players have come through our youth ranks and gone on to play for our first team and then play international football?
  5. I sold Taylor (£1.5m to City) Hazell, Stam, Lomax and signed Michael Woods from Chelsea, a defender called Hamstead or somthing from arsenal reserves and sergio terja from chelsea and took Sturridge and Ethu on loan from City. Wolfy scored 20+ first season and 30+ following seasons. Loaned Smalley out to Stalybridge for half a season and he turned into a very good player as well Rhys Murphy from Arsenal (scored 42 goals in league one and then 33 in championship the following season) and Baxter from Everton from 2nd season onwards are other good players to get on loan. Arsenal have quite a few good kids to get on loan once they've turned 17 and signed pro contracts, Lansbury is another good one and i got Barazite on a free. Conor Cliffard is good player in chelsea youth team too to get on loan from 2nd season onwards. When TTA accept bids for Eardley i just offer him a new contract for the most money they'll let me with a sell-on clause if we don't get promoted for £5m and he always seems to sign it
  6. I haven't been to all that many really but here goes Premier League Man Utd , Liverpool, Everton, Man City (old), West Ham, Newcastle, Wigan (old and new), Bolton (old), Derby (new). Championship Stoke (old and new), Hull City (new), Wolves, Burnley, Sheff Utd, QPR, Preston, Blackpool, Barnsley, Southampton (old), Coventry (old), Sheff Wed, Scunthorpe (old (i think) and new), Colchester. League 1 Carlisle , Doncaster Forest, Southend, Tranmere, Leeds Utd, Walsall, Oldham, Northampton, Hartlepool, Huddersfield, Crewe Alex, Gillingham, Port Vale. League 2 Stockport, Chesterfield, Rochdale (just pre-season friendlys), Grimsby, Rotherham, Bradford , Bury, Notts Co, Mansfield, Wrexham.
  7. I don't think its the drink driving that people had such a big problem with its that he drove away and just left the other people involved
  8. Constantine - Yes, he can be a very good player at our level and is a proven goalscorer in this league. He is recovering from injury at the moment which is why we probably haven't see him at his best Kilkenny - No Giddings - Yes, obvously Bertrand would be better but i think Giddings could be a very good player for us, Wasn't he only on loan to us to get his fitness back after injury? Jarrett - Yes, instead of Kalala. Allott or Jarrett alongside McDonald or a creative midfielder should we sign one Livermore - I'm not sure he would be willing to drop to league one permanently but even if he is i would prefer us to sign an out and out left winger and a left back. Livermore seems to be better in the middle and i don't think he would be first choice there Beresford - He did well but i think a younger keeper and Crossley would be better O'Donnell - He seems ok but someone with slightly more experience to fight with Crossley for a starting place would be better, we already have Bell and Ollerenshaw Robertson - I liked the look of him, shame he got injured. I'm not sure if we could get him but if we could he would be a good signing and would enable us to loan one of other young strikers out which i think they need
  9. I thought he did ok too. He gets stuck in and puts effort in, he's not a playmaker the same as Allott isn't but people seem to expect him to be. He's not properly fit yet either
  10. GK Crossley RB Eardley LB Bertrand CB Trotman CB Gregan CM Macca CM Allott CM Jarrett AM Lids ST Hughes ST Constantine subs Pogs Davies Smalley Stam Kilkenny Or if it had to be 4-4-2 Smalley on the left, Lids on the right and Jarret dropped to the bench
  11. So when they accept the job they don't think people are going to shout and moan when things go wrong? Thats football im afraid and Sheridan is experienced enough to know that. I get abuse from our customers at work all the time, and i knew i would end up getting some when i took my job, but i manage to keep my emotions under control. Sheridan has done that for most of the season but today it would seem his frustration got the better of him. I'm sure if we win at Doncaster and the fans are singing his name he will be back to waving to the fans and not flashing them the v's
  12. I'll be renewing as long as they don't increase the prices
  13. Exactly, the lads hardly had a chance and when he comes on as a sub late on the rest of the team have resorted to lumping the ball up in the air to the front 2. Give him a run out on Monday alongside Constantine and use Smalley on the right wing
  14. Except they are people being paid to represent the club, it's their job. There not equals in town on a saturday night or something, Shez/Moore or whoever are there representing the club and so do so without resorting to petty arguments with the fans. I agree that people who give it out should be able to take it, the point is they should'nt have to as the manager should be able to conduct himself in a professional manor.
  15. I've always rated Wolfy, people say he is too light weight and yes he does look like that but he can hold players off very well. My dad had a very brief chat with Joe Royle after the game last week and he said that from what he had seen Wolfy looked the most naturally gifted of the youngsters and that the runs he makes are excellent, he knows where to go and where the space will be. I would love to see him play alongside Hughes and with a few more older heads in the team who will see those runs a little earlier than some of younger players are doing. He may be older than Smalley and Alessandra but some players just take a little bit longer to develop than others.
  16. Except when Moore told some fans to f-off people nothing but complain about it and were demanding that he be kicked out and that was when we were still in with a great chance of him getting us promoted. Cant have one rule for one and one for another. He should fined or made to apologise, the abuse that some people direct towards him and the players i don't really agree with (tho i don't think there is anything wrong with the odd boo or negative comment here or there when things are really bad) but players and managers get fairly well paid and are representing the club an to turn round and stick 2 fingers up to the fans is unacceptable (i have no problem with Shez turning round and saying stuff like 'if you think you can do better come down here then' which he does quite often) and unprofessional, you would never see the likes of Wenger/Fergie doing that. If i did that to my customers at work i would be sacked in an instant. Thats if he did it of course, i didnt see him do it
  17. I saw that too, Shez seemed to be blaming just him for their goal wish was a little harsh. He did ok when he came on though i thought, at least he put some effort in, though i would have brough Wolfy on instead of him when Thompson went off
  18. Its 99% certain. I personally thought that he would be released (though i wouldnt have agreed with that) I suppose it will all come down to what the club is willing to offer him and what he is willing to accept I know Hughes was looking forward to playing alongside him when he got back from injury, unnfortunatly now Hughes is injured thats not going to happen this season. Should he still be here next season i fully expect Hughes to thrive on the balls Lids will put in the box for him as Porter did last season.
  19. He is going to be offered a contract, on reduced terms though i would presume, which i think is right . im sure some will disagree though (especially BB80!) im sure he'll prove them wrong next season like Allott has done this season
  20. The money was there to bring players in, not world class players admittedly but decent league one players. I wasn't saying that we should sign full time replacements for all our injured players but a bit of cover and experience in some key positions would have been useful instead of having to throw so many youngsters into the first 11 all at once. We did sign Livermore, Jarrett and Constantine eventually and all three are decent players for us it just seemed to take an age to bring players in. People will no doubt say how its not easy to get players to join us which is probably true but isn't that part of Shez's job? Other managers seemed to get players to sign for clubs in similar circumstances to us. Yes we are a league one club, with very poor attendances at the moment, we are starting a redevelopment of the ground - and TTA have said in the past that money will not be taken out of the transfer/wages kitty to pay for it - but when TTA got here they said they wanted an established championship side in abt 5 years, they want us to move forward, most of the fans want us to move forward but the only way to do that is to be successful on the pitch. Next season hopefully Shez and co will have learnt from some of there mistakes and the success wil come.
  21. They are all long term injuries though, i think people are more concerned that little was done to replace them. We have been very unlucky with injuries no-one can deny that but we didn't really replace key players when perhaps we should have done - hindsight is a wonderful thing though! Besides most people say Gregan, Lids and Crossley are past it and shouldnt be playing for us anyway!
  22. I went for Crossley as 2nd simply because i couldn't think of anything else and when he has been called upon he has more often than not been there. I know Hazell is very popular and he has been steady enough but i just see him as a stedy league one defender, nothing more nothing less. But thats football, everyone has a different view and sees things differently
  23. Wellens staying would have been fantastic but for whatever reason the club, whether that be Shez or TTA, didn't think it was worth the signing on fee. You have to take gambles in football, sometimes they work and sometimes they don't. It's easy with hindsight to say that Wellens would have been well worth the money, but i remember having several heated debates with people during the summer who said we were right to get rid of him and we'd be better off without him, they have since realised he would have been worth every penny. I would think Shez will be given one more season to get things right and i hope that he does
  24. 14/15 clean sheets cause of the back 4 including trotman that supposedly not playing that well. - Trotman wasn't perfect, a good player yes but he made mistakes as did everyone and he wasn't in the team for quite a few of those clean sheets Cant run - it's not one of his better atrributes i admit Can only punch on corners! - ive seen him catch them too, but even if he hadn't then punching it away is better than letting the opposition win the ball Thick for not coming off when injured now sits on the sidelines - because he was already playing with an injury and Shez wanted him the carry on playing as he didn't want to play Bell Doesnt command! - he does to a certain extent but again not one of his best Kicking is either too hard or not in play, when the ball stays in play its too high to hold up so a flick on is the only option, which runs straight to keeper. - or when its flicked on one of our players could get on the end of it? Off his line like a snail - true he isn't the quickest Too many cock ups - which can be said for everyone on the team, Saves shots, whats hes meant to do.. WOW - yes what he is paid to do, but thats more than you could say about some of our other players 2nd best player I think not - i do, its all about opinions I'm not saying that he is the best player to ever play for us but this season he has been one of our better, more consistant performers
  25. Yeah about 14/15 clean sheets playing a large part of the season with niggling injuries behind a back 4 not playing all that well is appalling form isn't it. I know he hasn't been at his best in many games and he has limitations but the same can be said for every player in our squad
