  1. well i'll give it a go but i'm not sure it'll work...
  2. i remember watching the clip at the time but it's heartbreaking watching it now, especially as it was less than 2 months ago and i remember thinking "he looks pretty well all things considered, at the worst he should at least be around for the baby being born". i can't believe he only played 41 games for us either, seemed like more, which i suppose says something about the impact he made on the club.
  3. I can only echo everyone else's sentiments - Ernie was a ray of sunshine on a very murky day. A lot of people have said that he was the epitome of the survival season, so i'm glad the OS's obituary mentions the QPR game, probably the best example of his determination and character. I think deep down we probably knew there wasn't going to be a happy ending, but for him to not see his baby being born just seems so unfair. I can't imagine how his partner must be feeling; i can only hope his family are taking some comfort from how highly people thought of him.
  4. i read the story in the original post after reading about how our game against Hereford will probably get moved cos it clashes with England v Kazakhstan, and i've had Throw The Jew Down The Well from Borat stuck in my head ever since.
  5. Not content with managing the team, Slaven Bilic (and his band) have also done Croatia's official song
  6. Very good OAFCguy but don't use James Blunt as backing music on your blog again, you're far too young to be listening to music that bland.
  7. Good point well made (however leathered you are ),the last time they had free admission i got to the ground well before 2pm and couldn't get in. Wondered where they all went at the next game. No way is the drum that loud that it'd ruin the match if you were sat in another stand. I can't afford to go to every game so if anyone in the RRE is really that bothered by the drum they can give me their season ticket. Honestly,is this what football's come to? People stopping going to the match because 'it's too loud'?
  8. They got away with effectively accusing Stuart Pearce of throwing matches (funny how whenever they show keegan's rant they never mention what provoked it) so i'm not surprised they got away with slagging off referees. The only time i remember Ferguson getting pulled up was when he accused Uefa of rigging the Champions League draw a few years ago.
  9. My thoughts exactly. And they've given Moore a new contract. We're 28-1 with Ladbrokes, which is taking the p**s a bit.
  10. First and last time Oldham v rochdale gets compared to Celtic v rangers, i suspect... Got back from celebrations at the pub in time to watch replay of the rangers game, i don't think i'm ever going to stop laughing, that's some shocking defending and one awful tackle...but just think, if Porter hadn't scored on Saturday it all might be very different...
  11. Couldn't have happened to a nicer player. Or a nicer team.
  12. Well somehow they've qualified, but they won't be able to play the first qualifying game at their own ground because of Bon Jovi. seriously.
  13. Exactly. I didn't begrudge him moving to a bigger club at the time, it was inevitable. What was a slap in the face was when he tried to sue the club when we still trying to pick up the pieces from Moore's departure and i'm sure Palace fans would back up your point about him being a despicable liar (still no nearer to the north west is he?). He had the potential to be a really good manager but all he's actually proved himself to be good at is spending other people's money.
  14. There probably would have been rioting whatever happened, both Glasgow clubs were banned from playing in Liverpool for a while cos of Rangers' fans' antics when they've played here. A thought:Everton beat Zenit St Petersburg earlier in the competition. We beat Everton. So...on our day we could win the UEFA cup. (yes i know that's b*ll***s but it's a thought to cheer us up when we're developing frostbite in a 3-sided ground against hartlepool next season)
  15. Ah, Pete Price FM. For the vast majority of lucky people on here who are blissfully unaware of him Pete Price is a Liverpool DJ who inspired this banner that liverpool fans took to the 2005 european cup final. I've not listened to city talk so far cos every time i switch on he's on it. Good luck with the job hunting mate, look forward to hearing the finished product and hopefully to hearing you on the airwaves.
  16. Finally, something on Oldham on local radio that isn't ronnie moore talking sh*te Which station is it? It'd be worth talking about how close the club came to going bust a few years ago, then looking at where the club's heading now, focusing (as people have said) on the ground redevelopment. Like Inspiral_Carpet says it's a good chance to look at what life's like outside the Premiership and the massive gap in resources, and what the club's achieved despite its financial problems.
  17. They also take crowd behaviour into account ( Uefa website ) so i'd guess it's definitely Fulham who'll qualify after the shenanigans yesterday.
  18. You know if you wanted to scare the crap of the local chippies you could just have a picture of that chippy near Goodison on fire with the caption 'BARMY ARMY ON TOUR'.... i hope someone from the club's reading this (and paying the site admin a consultancy fee ). i don't live in oldham so correct me if i'm wrong but the public transport links to the ground don't seem to be great, so the idea about the coaches is a good one. Also it's not just down to the club, there's a lot more the local media could be doing. It's all very well Revolution having the club crest on their website and having match updates on a Saturday but their sports news all week focuses on city and united.
  19. i had no idea he'd been so ill, good to have him back, the phrase 'great servant to the club' gets overused these days but he's one person it definitely applies to
  20. Aw, unlucky. Some awful refereeing decisions and i'm starting to think we had a lucky escape with Chris Hall (yeah i know it's unfair to judge him on one game but sod fairness where he's concerned). Slightly off topic... -why do setanta think it's a good idea to interview managers during the game, esp during the last minute? -even burton bloody albion have got a scoreboard
  21. I was going to say something about WW1, glad i didn't cos i wouldn't have put it half as well as that.
  22. If Peter Ridsdale hadn't decided we were 'beyond saving' in 2003.... It was horrible at the time but imagine what state we'd be in now if he'd took over.
  23. Not to mention 'big time charlie', 'thinks he's better than he is', 'stop p*ssing about and just pass it you're not at man u now' etc etc etc
  24. Yeah just what we need, another ginger midfielder from Oldham who can't tackle....
  25. There's loads of clips on there that have been filmed at league games inside the ground ( huddersfield , tranmere , blackpool etc etc) , why have they decided to pick on this one?
