  1. Playing for Morecambe Reserves tonight one of Latics fans "favourite" opposition player - Chris Shuker
  2. The reserves have two games in three days at the start of the week. On Monday at 19.00 the travel to Morecambe Globe Arena (LA4 4TB). Admission £4 for Adults £2 for concessions. Morecambe are one place and three points below us in the table. Games are running out and a win would see us on course for at least third place. Directions: Leave the M6 motorway at junction 34 and follow signs to Morecambe. Cross the River Lune via Greyhound Bridge in the left hand lane and continue following signs for Morecambe onto the A589. At the first two roundabouts keep in the right hand lane and carry straight on. At the third (Shrimp) roundabout turn left and continue along Westgate for about a mile. You will pass Morecambe Fire Station on your right just before you reach the Globe Arena, also on your right. On Wednesday afternoon (14.00) we visit the more homely surroundings of Macclesfield Town's Moss Rose. Macclesfield have only picked up one point since the beat us at Stalybridge back in October (8 losses one draw). Next Saturday morning at youth team are at Shrewsbury Town. The game is scheduled for Sundome Sports Village (SY1 4RQ) KO at noon. The lads lost to Wrexham yesterday 2-1 after the usually reliable Shaun Routledge made a bad mistake in injury time to gift Wrexham a winner. Coach Philiskirk will probalbly use a few schoolboys in this game. With many of the Youth team also playing for the reserves they are in a period of 14 games in little over a month. In the afternoon the first team are at Yeovil Town (15.00).
  3. When we paid just after they announced the prices we paid with £430 in £2 coins - Janice in the ticket office was happy. Though you should have seen her face two years ago when we pitched up with 600 £1 coins in a plastic bag. You know every year that a large dollpd of money will be needed for your ST's. We just saved all our £2 coins and when we has some spare cash in the pot that went. We already have £30 towards 2012/13 season tickets (wherever that might be)

  5. Am currently on 93. Carlisle Youth away on 21 April should be the 100th. Currently looking at the LYC Final on 9 May to be 110th Latics game this season. Also we passed 11,000 miles on the way to Tranmere last night.
  6. Just found out that the venue for the reserves game next Monday evening against Morecambe has been changed from Kendal Town to Morecambe's Globe Arena.
  7. One in four reserve games - great return from Ben
  8. The only thing Feeney did all night was score the penalty. What Dux meant was he "wanted" him to be stood outside the ground. Keeper did OK with three excellent saves. Sending off was harsh. The penalty was enough. The ball was driven at the Tranmere player and he had no chance to get out of the way - infact he needed treatment before he coild stand long enough to get the card.
  9. The Lancashire Professional Youth Cup Final between Oldham Athletic and Preston North End will take place at Boundary Park on Monday 9th May 2011 KO 19.00.
  10. Not sure how many pro contracts the club can afford to offer. Tarkowski has made great strides after a long lay off with injury. He is quicker then he looks and it would be a surprise if he wasnt given a pro. Winchester looked head and shoulders better than his team mates just after his debut at Accrington but has suffered from getting few games and navvying between midfield (where I think he is better) and full back. Should be offered a deal. Of the rest the only one I would take a punt on is Connor Hughes.
  11. I think the season is catching up with them. When they play the final of the youth cup that will be their 12th cup game this season. The league season is 24 games so thats another half a season. Add to that the Youths being played in the reserves. I know some of the squad had 12 games to play this month. It is a lot for young scholars to be playing.
  12. Wasnt Medi Alabimbi known to PD and GT as well .................

  15. The Latics U-18's beat Tranmere Rovers this afternoon by the narrowest of margins. A even first half brought few chances but Latics found themselves one down when the Tranmere winger curled a shot around Dale Connor from the corner of the 18 yard box. Tony Philiskirk made a couple of substitutions and one of them equalised. Connor Hughes riding a couple of tackles before firing home from the edge of the box after 70 minutes. The game opened up in the final 20 minutes with Latics going close on a few occasions with Laird and Burns missing when in great positions. To be fair to Tranmere they also spurned chances to score - especially a delightful chip from the sub striker which the wind just took over the bar. David Mellor had the final chance of the game when he balooned a penalty over. Lancashire FA games are always 90 minutes then into spot kicks. Latics lead and the Jack Laird and Matty D Carr scored theirs as did the Tranmere player between them, 2-1 then. The next seven penalties where saved by the goalkeepers. Not one bad kick amongst them. The final Tranmere kick was just fingertipped onto the upright by Dale Connor to give Latics victory. The other semifinal took place at the same time with Preston winning by 1-0 over Bury. Latics will host Preston in the final TBA
  16. The week starts with two trips to the Wirral. On Monday afternoon at 14.00 the Latics U-18's have a Lancashire Youth Cup Semi Final against Tranmere Rovers. The game is at Raby Vale - Tranmere Rovers training ground. Address is Wilaston Road, Thornton Hough, Wirral CH63 4JG Directions: Exit M53 J4. At the roundabout take the exit sign posted Clatterbridge. Follow the road to another roundabout, taking the 1st exit. Follow the road for approx 1 mile going straight over at the mini roundabout. Raby Vale will be on the left. Sean Garnetts side have picked up a few wins the last few weeks and the Quarter Final win at Burnley was very unexpected. A hard task after the dissapiontment of yesterdays loss to Darlington in the Youth Alliance Northern Final. On Wednesday evening the reserves play at Prenton Park against Tranmere's Reserves. KO at 19.00. Tranmere have won three in a row since a 8-1 home reverse to Preston. Latics won last week at Burnley but will have to replace the released Medi Alabimba - another trialist maybe?. Next Saturday the youth team have another home game at Chapel Road against Wrexham (11.00) This is the last home game for the lads and for some the last home game for the second year scholars who do not get offered a pro contract. Anyone going to straight to BP/Rifle Range from that game I would appreciate a lift as the wife is doing her charity gig again. Next Saturday afternoon the first team wrap up the week with a home game against Charlton Athletic (15.00).
  17. Which games did you see him in? Started OK in his first game from which Prozac and BP rated him highly. Since then he has gone backwards - fast.
