  1. No one will come to Oldham to share BP which is why a ground between the towns of Oldham and Rochdale would be the best option. You have no history at the ground for either team. Neither side is tennants of the other one. Wimbledon at Crystal Palace or West Ham, Brighton at Gillingham, (I seem to recall) Chester at Macclesfield where all tennants of the other team.
  2. Its bang on the motorway network, no neighbours to speak of. Both teams would end up with a new stadium. There a almost no hotels in the area. Lets go one step further a retractable roof.
  3. Saw this post on the Oldham e-zine. Think this is a great idea. Since tesco left stakehill that estate has almost died but you still have the manchester postcode argument. I would be rally radical. Groundshare with Rochdale on a new ground at Queensway with a 4G surface installed. You might lose FA Cup home games for a few years but if it is good enough for UEFA it should be good enouh for the FA. Rochdale hornets can take over Spotland. Plenty of room at Queensway lots of parking - even Metrolink on the doorstep. Latics at one time under Ian Stott lead the way for english football. One of the first with undersoil heating, the original plastic pitch, even the animated scoreboard was one of the most up to date in the country. Time to think outside the box again. We have been going over the same tried & tested but they have failed. As the chap says - outside the box thinking.
  4. Dont know how John Gilder caught me with a smile on my face - didnt recognise me.
  5. What time was it posted on Latics site? The secretary of Kendal Town sent me a text at 16.20 but the Morecambe site has the story about the match being off at 13.55. Still the wife made sure I saw all the nice shops in Wimdermere and Kendal. By 16.21 we where in KFC for a boneless banquet.............. Suffer for that in the morning.
  6. You can keep your RRE. Always the Chaddy for me. Tried it didnt like it.
  7. Me too - but they also charged me 50p at main reception for a colour teamsheet
  8. Note that Carlisle have gone in the opposite direction than most clubs (including Latics). Instead of putting prices up above £3 and adding to the bulk of the issues they have done Programme Lite you might say. A 16 page colour programme with just the information you need. Comments from the manager, team lineups, meet the away team, fact & figures. I found it quite refreshing only having to lay a pound out for a programme. For the extra £2 do you really need all the extra bumph? Would you start buying a programme again if it was just the basics or do you buy it for the interviews, competitions etc?
  9. The first team start with a home game against Mick Wadsworths Hartlepool United on Tuesday 1 February 19.45 KO. A chance to avenge that 4-2 reverse at Victoria Ground on New Years Day. On Wednesday the reserves are/might have a Totesport.com West Division game against Morecambe. Neither the Oldham or Morecambe websites have the game scheduled but the Totesport.com newsletter has the game scheduled and I am assured that the game will take place (pending weather as Kendal Town game a home game on Tuesday evening). Morecambe play their games at Kendal Town FC and KO should be 19.00. Set the SatNav for LA9 7BL Kendal is situated within 10 minutes of the M6 from J36 via A590/591/A6 to Kendal (South). At first traffic lights turn right, left at the roundabout, right opposite K Village onto Parkside Road. Lakeland Radio Stadium is on the right over brow of hill. No information on entrance prices but either £3 or £4 for adults is the usual. With the ins and outs at BP this week is should be a interesting reserve side Lee Duxbury puts out. Saturday we have the U-18's play their third home game in a row with the visit of the U-18 of Accrington Stanley. 11.00 at Chapel Road as usual. Yesterdays LYC QF victory was hard earned - especially on the artificial surface at Hopwood Hall - even stranger watching if from behind a fence. The top of the Youth Alliance League ois bunching up nicely and TP's boys are nicely placed for a run at the title. Finally the First Team have a home game against John Stills Dagenham & Redbridge (15.00).
  10. Would you not say that half the usual Rochdale support stands behind the goal?
  11. To be fair it is Carlisles decision who goes where. Latics can make representations to them but ultimatley it is Carlisles decision. Oldham - all seater stadium - fans used to sitting. Rochdale - mostly home fans standing.
  12. 08/09 away was the flourecent yellow. The current tangerine/navy is in its second year. Deal with Carbrini was signed in July 2008 so time for a new supplier maybe.
  13. Two games for the senior squad next week. The rearranged postponed game at rock bottom Walsall on Tuesday at 19.45. Walsall have brother of Latics Rod McDonald playing for them Clayton will look to stop qetting tail off at the foot of the division but Latics will be confident of building on back to back wins. The game will be refereed by Mark Brown - his first Latics game. Saturday morning the Latics youth team have a home game at Chapel Road against Rochdale in the Lancashire FA Youth Cup Quarter Final. The winners will be away at Burnley or Tranmere Rovers in the Semi Final. KO is 11.00. After yesterdays 8-0 hammering of hapless league leaders Blackpool Tony Philiskirk's lads are doing us proud. If you are not going to Carlisle get down and give them your support. The week finishes with a trip to Brunton Park, Carlisle (15.00). A win there last season was one of few highlights in a dour season. A pint in the Beehive or the golf club are reccomended. The reserves have no game this or next week. Next fixture's for the second string ar 7th and 9th of Fb when away at Man U (behind closed doors) and home to Accrington Stanley (14.00 at Stalybridge)
  14. That would not be too bad at least you would have seen the game as Killington Lake is for southbound only
  15. Blackpool had a fayc game on thursday so played mostly their first year lads. Still without the Blackpool keeper having a excellent game we would have been in double figures.
  16. Wrong information put out by club. Standing tickets are for Bristol Rovers not Carlisle. £19 to sit at Carlisle
  17. for £16.50 http://www.oldhamathletic.co.uk/page/AwayT...2271235,00.html
  18. This was the first time the Latics reserves have played in 10 weeks - and it showed. Reading Tony Bugby's report on the OS he struggles to flesh out anything interesting to describe. Also a team with 2 youth team center half's and two trialist full backs was always going to struggle - especially against Tom Eaves. Tom looked a class above everyone on the pitch. His touch has improved no end and he ran the game until going off late in the second half. 1 GREG FLEMMING - 5 Should have come out quicker for Eaves opener. Did nothing more than a half-competent keeper should do anyway. 2 YASSIN MOUTAOUAKIL - 4 Eaves ran past him with ease when he picked the ball up near the halfway to run in for his first goal. For a trialist seemed disinterested. 3 ANDRE BLACKMAN - 5 Only thing postitive that he wasnt as disinterested as Moutaouakil 4 JON WORTHINGTON - 5 Withdrawn at half time. None of his usual fire. Didnt get his usual booking. 5 JAMES TARKOWSKI - 6 Settled in the second half once Carl Winchester was brought on. 6 RODNEY MacDONALD - 5 His time at Stafford Rangers over but didnt look match fit. At least his father wasn't there to confuse him with his "advice" which as it is often contrary to Dux's instruction's which just confuses him. 7 ANDY HOLSWORTH - 6 Tried hard 8 ZAC BOWN - 6 has been on trial at BP now for quite a while. Most interesting incident was after 5 minutes when on the end of a tackle let out the most amusing scream heard all night. The did it again. 9 KIRK MILLAR - 7 had a rasping shot tipped over and tried and tried but nothing came off. 10 RYAN BROOKE - 6 Set himself well for a couple of shots. High and wide. Sums his night up. 11 LEWIS ALESSANDRA - * number 11 went off at half time. I had to look at the teamsheet to see who #11 was. Cant rate as I dont recall him being on the pitch. SUBS 12 CARL WINCHESTER - 7 settled down the defence when he came on at half-time. His first team call ups have boosted his confidence levels. Eaves didnt have quite such a easy time of it when he came on. 14 MATT A CARR - 6 Not quite as innefective as Alessandra 15 GREG KIDD - 6 couple of decent touches A bad night all around. Its three weeks before the reserves are set to play again when they have two games in three days a behind closed boors Lancashire Senior Cup game at Man U and a Totesport.com league game at home to Accrington Stanley. A report from the Bolton Website can be found at http://www.bwfc.co.uk/page/Reserves/0,,1004~2270294,00.html
  19. Note that Big Gordon has just become a facebook friend of Mark Allott
  20. After a fine performance yesterday the first team have a full weeks rest before their next game. Before then the Reserves are in action in the Manchester Senior Cup on Tuesday evening (19.00). Our first game of the league stage was a 2-1 defeat to Manchester United at Stalybridge back on September 1st. Bolton Wanderers are the opponents with the game being staged at the Lancashire FA HQ, The County Ground, Leyland (PR25 2LF). Entry is £3 for Adults and £1 for concessions. Teamsheets at 20p. It will be interesting to see the progress of Tom Eaves. Tom is a regular in the Trotters reserves and played in their last game a 1-0 reverse against Manchester United. This will be Boltons 4th game in the competition having beaten Rochdale and Manchester City but lost heavily to Manchester United. If the game is level on 90 minutes penalties will decide the winner. Next Saturday the U-18's play in league leaders Blackpool at Chapel Road (11.00) in the Youth Alliance North West Conference. Blackpool where running away with the league but the pack are now closing in. Latics will not have their strongest team as there will undoubtedly be call ups to the senior squad. The first team are at home to Brentford next Saturday 15.00. After a great win at Griffin Park a league double is a realistic possibility. The Lancashire Senior Cup game against Manchester United postponed at Stalybridge in November has been arranged for 7 February 14.00 but dont make any plans to go as the game is behind closed doors ar Carrington. For those who enquired Plymouth Argyle Youth 1 Hereford United Youth 3
  21. That Morrisons is on the site of the old stadium Fellows Park. Also as Walsall hadnt printed a programme for the postponed game there will not be a rehashed "old" programme.
