  1. Just all remember boys and girls be a bit less on the alcohol as Walsall can be a bit firm, as per Bristol City's visit: http://bristolcity.rivals.net/default.asp?...mp;stid=8363739
  2. Looks like I'm going have to abandon ship on this one. The call of the County Championship is dragging me down to Surrey. Hopefully we will win with enough time to allow me to get to the game...
  3. A bit unfair as he only played the last two games of his opening season due to being seven. When you look at it he has missed a couple of seasons through injury (the last two). IF he comes back to anything near he was before* then this isn't even debatable. Are we to take him out of the side in the hope that Emile Heskey suddenly becomes a goalscorer, as Wayne Rooney hasn't got the goals at international level to the same standard yet. In fact, that Rooney's just a crock. He's been injured a couple of times in as many competitions, is it worth bothering with him? I mean he hasn't put the ball in the net with the same regularity as Owen when fit - we may as well replace him with a player that stays fit. Who are we down to now? Steve Howard? *And I don't mean just pace. Players adapt to scenario's such loss of pace (see Alan Shearer).
  4. You can't seriously mean that you think John 'at least one cock up a game against decent opposition' Terry isn't quite as good as the media think John 'has never made a mistake, and is really, really fast honest. And it wasn't really anything to do with him anyway that nightclub incident' Terry is!!!
  5. Must have missed this thread the first time round. How people can have a go at Owen is beyond me. In the friendly he was obviously rusty but his positional sense meant that he got chances. He is one of the few top international players we have had over the years. The man scores more than a goal every other game in the league, something he isn't far short of at international level. To criticise that level of scoring is nothing short of lunacy. He may have lost a yard of pace, but he is still a quality player. NB. I'll put my hand up to the Heskey one. And I'll keep it up. He can do a job, but it can't be long until someone comes along who can do it better.
  6. By Golly, the team may as well quit Boundary Park and move to Ferens Park such is the swell of North East fans... I reckon the next trip for me will be Walsall, so am up for car-share as per norm to help keep the funds up. I may even stick a bet on Walsall to win 3-0.
  7. The thing is we don't need him at away grounds. He prevents us getting going. At home, I have no problem (and I do sometimes sit in that area). If you don't like it there are a million and one* other seats to go to. Just move away a bit. *Alright, about 7,000.
  8. Okay, how many of us are trying to remember if we've been on here at a daft time in the morning?
  9. ( I am right though and you are very, very wrong ;) )
  10. Hmm. If we had played all season with Lee Croft we'd have won the league by about twenty points. These things are a bit dubious that way. Although we may disagree (and let's face it, it is no big deal) I'm just telling it as I sees it. NB. I do suspect there is probably one or two I have missed out on, but it isn't the poorest but the most overrated - something I think Bunn was.
  11. I was at Peterborough whilst most were watching Bristol do us. He was Peterborough;'s man of the match and looked a handful. He can ceratinly step up a division but I'm not sure if he could go much higher successfully.
  12. I must be the odd man out here. I thought Olney was a decent player up until his injury. Beckford was a typical bustly player. No ability but big and strong (see Dalian Atkinson, etc...).
  13. I had a feeling that could be the controversial one. To me he was lazy, and rated far above his ability due to knocking in six goals in during one game. He could finish and wasn't a poor player I just don't think he was as good as was made out (i.e. overrated). Someone will probably come up with one which will change my mind yet, as he was part of the best Oldham team going.
  14. I'm with you up until Liddell. Davies and Wolfie up front I say. To me: Crossley Eardley Trotman Gregan Lomax Bertrand Kalala Allott Taylor Davies Wolfendon (Unless we want to put sone kids in for the tinpot cup)
  15. 1. Referee Consistency : 5/5. He was consitantly poor. 2. Match Control : 3/5 Didn't lose control, but the game ebbed out once he gave the penalty. 3. Decision Making : -1000000/10. Got every major decision wrong. At least the chump at Carlisle got the decisions in favour of Carlisle correct. 4. Positioning/ Fitness : 4/5. No problems. 5. Any Other Comments : A very poor referee. He wasn't biased but got major decisions wrong. Nobody has any idea why the penalty was given. The Pools fans have no idea. It just wasn't a penalty. The not given penalty was almost as much a stick on as Davies' at Carlisle. Absolute certainty. McDonald. Got done for diving. An absolute disgrace considering his positioning Had his legs swiped. Can't think where the ref was looking. The fourth goal. Definate foul on Bertrand. I'll put this down to the lino as he was nearer.
  16. Yes, that would be him. I'd put McNiven in there, but nobody really rated him other than Celtic.
  17. Now I don't know if you are joking. The rubbish one who had a brother at Bury (I think). I can't remember his name. Played about four years ago...
  18. Wow, this is a corker... GK Miskelly (well up until THAT game) RB - That United bloke CB Lee Sinnott (any rating of any sort was too much for him) CB Earl (was good in Div2, but we thought he was a world beater. Sadly he wasn't) LB Carl Serrant RM Kevin Betsy CM Paul Reid (if I can put him on any list of bad things I will, forever the Judas ******) CM Matty Rush (again we just thought he was better than he was. Unfortunate though) LM Chris Taylor (sorry) CF Carlo Corrazin CF - Frank Bunn (lazy)
  19. It was around that. I wish it was less. I have never been so ashamed in my life and I doubt I ever will be again. On a side note I do think (with the tour de la Bangladesh) that we are trying to move forward, it will just take a long time.
  20. Do they have to be young? I'll harp on about the player I think we should have taken a risk on. He would have cost nothing and would solve our left midfierld probem if it turned out alright. Andy Burgess of Rushden (briefly Oxford). Can play a set piece and a decent left midfielder at this level as he showed with Rushden when they were up.
  21. None of them were his fault from my view. Still don't like the way he stops on his line though.
  22. I think I'm one of the few that will have left the game a little horse. Sadly most of that was used up on swear words towards the ref and lino, who, yet again, were poor. Or it could be neck ache from nodding my head from side to side everytime we tried to pass a ball.
  23. Liddell. In short. Legs. Gone. Shift Taylor over to the right and move the young lad up to left wing. Then have Lomax in at left back. If it doesn't work better I'll be surprised but Lids' time is up in my opinion. NB. We didn't sing until the final minute. In fact we didn't sing much once we were two down at all.
  24. Anyone who went to THAT Stoke game knows how many were in there (round and about) from the National Front, and how many (thousand) Latics fans joined in. To say that we don't have racist fans I'm afraid is not correct. I'd say that we have more racist fans than other clubs, and more worrying they are the nasty racists (those that are doing it because they are bad people rather than an ignorance). I'd not say they will jump on Latics players because they are black, but they'll do it a hell of a lot quicker if they are.
