  1. Thought he did well too. On top of the game, and let it run. Didn't get any major decisions wrong. As for the lino. The one where Davies went through and (hopefully purposefully) missed looked very onside. But I'll say what I always say in the scenario where you are looking headon. He had a much better view.
  2. Do I think Ricketts is a good signing? Ask me in six months. If he is fit, yes. If he has let himself go, no. To judge him now is lunacy, but since when has that stopped our idiot fans.
  3. I think it's a show of the level of you miscreants that I have to be the one to ask... What's the difference between cocaine and crack cocaine?
  4. After half time I went on a thirty five minute swearing tirade and surprised myself a few times. By the time the penalty (not given) came I'd run out and could only manage a "Bloody Nora". Needless to say if I see the chap in town anytime I'll probably be set off again.
  5. Ahh, the three all draw which saw Danny Boshell's good performance in an Oldham shirt. It was great the way we wound up Davidson in goal for them. He was awful in the first half and was reacting to our fans. The second half he came out and put up a complete one man show and saved tham from a damn good thrashing. We might have been better being quiet.
  6. The two nil home defeat to Hartlepool? When Pogs did one of the worst pieces of goalkeeping performed (including schoolkids football)? That really didn't go down well with me who had to drive 130 miles home with a rather happy Hartlepool fan. Still 100,000,000 times better than the 3-0 defeat at Rotherham. I have never been as dejected at a 'performance' as that.
  7. Dougie Hodgson was a star. Might have been slightly lacking on the talent front, but 100% commited to the cause. Now Lee Sinnott was a different matter. Never a player lacking so much in enthusiasm for the club have I seen in our colours. Paul Reid I hated after he did the dirty on us.
  8. A couple spring to mind: Stephen McPhee. Cheating cheater. Might be a decent player if he didn't cheat (and wasn't a bit knackered leg-wise). Kevin Francis. Talentless and a dirty **** to boot.
  9. ...and with regards Carlisle, if anyone wants a lift from J62* of the A1(M), I'll be off from there at approximately midday. So long as you whallop it on here today I'll be able to check and make arrangements. *There is free 'parking' just off J62 so that wouldn't cost anything.
  10. Yay, not often I'm wrong but I'm right now. Announced. Both Bristol games on tellyvishun.
  11. It wouldn't surprise me if both Bristol teams got on this round.
  12. Yeah, I had a search for it yesterday too. There's also Switters to add to the NE, well he puts down Middlesbrough and Newcastle as where he is. I'm not sure whether that means he's in Sunderland/Hartlepool or what though? I think the biggest problem is that we all have our own routines (drop in and see the parents, etc) that match days haven't seemed to take off. Away games seem a plan, but again many stop overnight at friends/relatives. Might be worth broaching the subject before each game to see who's doing what though?
  13. Is it Blackpool that have the most named after them. I'm sure I read it somewhere that they have something like 17 clubs called Blackpool somewhere in their name (e.g Salt River Blackpool). Not sure they all play in Tangerine though.
  14. The Juve shirts were from one of their players (John Savage). They were dressed in pink - but even then this was a bit limp-wristed so he sent off to Nottingham for some proper shirts (them being the red and white of Nottingham Forest). However (this bit there are two different reasonings) there were either no Nottingham Forest shirts available, or people are the same now as they were back then, and his Notts County supporting friend who he asked decided he'd prefer him playing in black and white stripes. And the rest is history.
  15. ...and the coat of arms/flag for St Ambrose is a red cross on a white background.
  16. Remembering back, wasn't it his style of running that made him look a lazy player. Admittedly as a midfielder he looks a bit different, but I await being won over.
  17. Sadly Rocky, I agree with virtually everything you've typed in that post. Although I personally don't believe Rocastle was the answer either I think you've certainly hit the nail on the head with the available players. Obviously, none of us (sensible ones) are going to boo him, but I can't help think that at this stage there is alot better out there for less or nothing.

    Leon Clarke

Indeed. At Brentford he was so bad at times I would rather have been playing with ten men. Then he knocks in a tap in and a penalty (which he had to fight to take). So looking at the good points: (1) He can score a tap in. (2) He gets in the right place at the right time. (3) He's still pretty young yet. Looking at the bad points: (1) He'll be on a big wage. (2) He'll cost money. (3) He is so unfit it isn't funny. (4) Off what other teams have said, he has never been fit which is a disgrace for a professional footballer. (5) He has no understanding of the off-side rule. (6) He is being gotten rid of for "attitude problems". (7) I suspect that he will get a fairly tough time of things off the MC as he was a marked man before he left. Myself, as you can probably see, would rather we sign somebody else. There must be hundreds out there available better than this bloke.
  19. Type in 'Webster', 'Hearts', 'Wigan' and 'Rangers' in a search engine then. Although slightly different (as Hearts were still owed Websters wages for a season), it has all the hallmarks of this deal (except they were robbed of about £5 million).
  20. I suspect it could be spot on with this one though. But don't be surprised if Porter "moves" to another English club within days though for next to nothing.
  21. Go on then, I'll go for Bramall Lane. Group. No idea. Def Leppard? Game, no idea again. Walsall? In short a guess and two wild stabs.
  22. Missed the option of keeping both clubs in the Premiership and playing with an extra team. Unlikely, but it's been done before elsewhere.
  23. Scotland: Hearts (when I went up there I was Aberdeen, but that swiftly changed). Italy: Napoli (went to Naples at the right time as a kid) Spain: Espanyol (goes back to the Paraguayan Benitez, who I liked) Germany: Eintracht Frankfurt France: Bastia (again went there as a kid) Greece: AEK Athens (friends at Uni were AEK fans. Great picking up games on Brazilian pirate satellite for some reason) Sweden: IFK Göteborg (went there as a kid) Argentina: River Plate (I guess you pick one at some point) Wales: Bangor City (University) Croatia: Dinamo Zagreb (Holiday) Georgia: Dinamo Tblisi (Oldham friendly) Hungary: Ferencvaros (didn't get on with Millwall fans, would probably change on a visit) Romania: Steaua Nicolae Balcescu (after problems with crowd trouble were looking to implement the idea of digging a moat around the pitch. And filling it. With crocodiles. Not sure it got past planning, but that's the type of outside the box thinking which is needed in football).
