  1. I'm sure I remember seeing some pics of Ernie somewhere wearing a millwall kit as a youngster and also celebrating after their FA cup semi final win with his mates (may have been on facebook). I have no doubt the millwall fans will be completely respectful whatever tribute is decided on.
  2. Ernie, he rose above so many better players because he wanted it more, and that sums him up for me. A truely outstanding man. Rest in peace, they'll always be a place on the terraces for you Ernie!
  3. very true and was certainly the same thought in my mind. A suggestion could be to have a 'legends' type where all could be honoured. On a day like today such things are for another time though.
  4. Good idea in terms of a permanent tribute, but I'd prefer such a named bar/lounge in the new main stand/chaddy (granted it will be a while off yet). Alongside others such as the return of the Royle bar etc etc. With photo's etc it would be a fitting tribute Probably a more fitting location than a bar that may revert to the 'away' end at some point in the future. But certainly a great idea to have a permanent tribute - lounge/bar, player of the year trophy something along those lines
  5. 'The Bear' has just been on Where are They Now on Sky. He's now a truant officer at a moss side school.
  6. ...too old to realise it was suppose to be late goals... nice list though, some good memories in there inc the dodgers record breaker.
  7. I think it's already common knowledge that Hughesy will see out the remaining year of his contract and if we are promoted there is more than a small chance that he'll sign an extension...if we aren't he'll be off to the Championship. Therefore approaching him now to sign an extension isn't going to make a difference. I suspect the same for Davies, who as a young, Wales international is always likely to do the same thing. No qualms with either of them doing that, after all they would just be seeing out their contracts. The only difference to either of those would be if we were approached to sell them at some point during the season
  8. Not necessarily a reason to panic. Which one of the Hillstone companies..they have a few....and one going won't necessarily effect the others
  9. Saw him last week at BP, he had been in with the physio doing his rehab (just before Whittakers medical). Everything is on track.
  10. Matt O'Haloran v Rushden...it was our first win after the terrible summer of 2003 and the moment it hit the net 3 months of pentup frustration at what had almost happened to the club just went. It was that goal and win that made me believe that all was not lost and we were back. And The Dodger v Manure semi-final 1990 - 3-3
  11. Don't think you've gone for the best example there...Beckett non-injury prone??
  12. True but for me Mouldy Old Dough isn't entrance/goal music and that's what we are talking about. But it certainly should continue to be played in the 15 mins or so before the entrance....also why wait until we've won and are on the way out of the ground before playing Boys in Blue (and the Roger rap) ?? Taking the debate a bit wider than entrance and goal music granted.
  13. You could always use the classical version of 'Guns' as Entrance music, with some studio genius mixing in the specials version after a few blasts of some military brass. In the same way the ELP version of fanfare works. If not for me 'Fanfare' was and always will be associated with some great 'pinch me' times at BP so I'd always go for that... I've been on the 'Guns' for goal celebration song since it was first talked about last year, it's about time we made a song our own. Hate the bongo song. For me tunes at a football game (before, halftime) should be pub jukebox! The kind of tunes that the wedding dj puts on around 11pm once the bar has been hammered. So why not get HMV to send down the 101 pub jukebox hits album and then we can have a sing-a-long
  14. think that was the season after that (93/94), 91/92 was the 2-0 win...Andy Barlow with the 2nd wasn't it? (on the end of a sweeping counter attack)
  15. Been into the Latics shop today and they've got the M.E.N. books on sale in there
  16. Is £150 too high now they've had a taste of £138?? the tricky second album The Bradford chairman is making phonecalls to try and persuade fans to take up season tickets this season as they are still 3000 tickets short of their 9000 target - having put the ticket price up from the £138 price last season to £150 this...
  17. I got the same hint from my dad when it was in the programme. Order one and it arrived a couple of weeks ago, with his name in it. I think it's safe to say that I'm really disappointed with it. I'm guessing not many were ordered as there are only about 6 ndedicated names in it. A number of the photos are reproduced digi photos that are badly pixelated, they've got a picture of Graeme Sharp with Pointon's profile, a few spelling mistakes...and to say it is advertised as ' Legends of Oldham Athletic the last 25 years' the 'Legend' profiles include... Carlo, Killen, Wolfenden, Lomax, Beckett, Smalley, Alessandra, Hazell and Thompson and nobody prior to the 1989 squad. Bit disappointing...but who knows, dad might like it. If you're still interested the publishers are At Heart www.atheart.co.uk they might have some more?
  18. FIFA have already decided that it does stand (decision was announced on the day or two after the game), guess you missed that one.
  19. As has been pointed out in many posts above, it is a matter of the free space in the stadiums. Vale have a stadium that is vastly undercapacity (as have bradford and hudds) which means that they can treble the ticket holders to get as close to the losses in revenue, whilst leaving still more room for pay on the day fans that further contributes to plugging the gap left by the offer. The current BP just hasn't the capacity to make the sums work. I think as Hardy has pointed out, they HAVE looked at the breakeven point and the losses are just too big.
