  1. I wouldn't mind changing the badge to incorporate the Red Rose of Lancashire, as long it still kept the traditional owl. One thing I did put on my comments sheet yesterday was that the name of the club MUST NOT change, as was rumoured a few months ago. If anyone forgot to put that, please email the club to remind them!
  2. We'll be on the beach in Sri Lanka! No good to us. We demand a refund on our season tickets!
  3. Absolutely correct. When I was interviewed for the website, even the interviewer seemed surprised that the drawings shown weren't for the initial stadium. I think the intention was to 'wow' the visitors, and hope they didn't ask many questions. Obviously most of us did.
  4. OK then. As I understood it, the two filled-in corners are 'optional extras' - the final capacity has yet to be decided. It looks great with the corners (even with two empty), but won't be so hot without. The plans are a long way from finalised, nowhere near the planning application stage IMO. Even the stadium position isn't finalised, but it will be towards the north of the site, on the council land. (Hmmm.....) There are various reasons for this, including access to the main stand which seemingly has to be on the west side. (Myself, I'd put it on the east side and push the development to the back of the site). No details on access, car parking, Metrolink, other facilities, etc. It really isn't that far on.
  5. Don't worry! Almost everyone on this board is fully aware of how hard it is to get to BP from Warrington. Impossible on a Saturday. (Where's the fishing smilie?) I'll be there at some point.
  6. I'm mostly pissed off that they posted a report that the pitch would be fine TBH. Wondered why we were the only c nts walking down Broadway at 2.30. FFS, if it's in doubt, say so. Don't say it will be OK!
  7. Myself and Mrs Anchor should be there, unless I can lose the door keys and lock us in until 5pm. Been rough all week, but not too bad now. I'm sure a few more hours sitting in the freezing cold will see me right!
  8. I'm pleased for O'Grady. Hopefully he can prove himself now - never had a chance here. And for those who talk about him only performing at a lower level, I'm sure Rochdale would take us to pieces at the moment. Or even for the past few months.
  9. I didn't see anything deliberate from the Millwall player - there may have been a little kick in there though. Gregan put both hands around his neck (didn't try to strangle him admittedly). Lucky not to be sent off. We deserved more from the game than to lose to a stupid penalty conceded by our most experienced professional.
  10. Don't know if it works or not, but it's a forward facing type, currently pointing down the hill (it originally pointed uphill). So if you were travelling down the hill, don't worry.
  11. My boss lives near there, but couldn't make it in on Wednesday due to the ice. He lives on a bus route too, which is normally ploughed and gritted. But the salt is scarce since the DfT launched 'Operation Grit the South'. A couple of people slid into the barrier at work this morning (in Littleborough) due to the ice. I arrived an hour earlier, and was surprised that it was raining when it was -2C!
  12. Been told that Dale have offered £65K for him. Bye bye Chris! I think Penney's posturing to get the sale. Remember what Shez said about Mental? An unwanted player isn't worth nearly as much.
  13. That's probably the gig I couldn't get tickets to. 1992 if I remember correctly. Was gutted, and still am a bit now. How about Kevin Bloody Wilson (thanks Will!) for next year? (Warning! NSFW or oversensitive people!)
  14. me! Anyone would think it was Linkin Park! If the music business doesn't like it, it's their own faults for devaluing the charts with all the crap that's freely publicised (in the guise of a TV show). Why should the Xmas No.1 single be a done deal? Well done to RATM, and all those who bought the single.
  15. Damn it! I'm sure you're right. Big stone wall with big bungalows behind. Knew 'd seen it somewhere!
  16. Much as I was a fan, from what I've heard he's lucky to still have his liberty. Lee is a very talented footballer - it's a shame he seems to have the mind of a 12 year old.
  17. It doesn't for me, to be honest. It needs to have enough toilets to get a pee at half time, sufficient food outlets to serve everyone when the ground is full, and decent bar facilities to have a pint or three before and after the game. Throw in a good view, and enough room (don't get me started on the muppet at the Exeter game ) and I'll be happy.
  18. Neither is riding a horse in that case, but they always seem to do well.
  19. Maybe a little harsh, but basically true. And here's why: Two things won Button the championship. The first was a series of near-perfect drives, and not just at the start of the season. Consistent, quick, few errors. Just think of all the people Barrichello tagged throughout the season (and he had the same car as Button). Vettel is only young and still improving, but he made costly errors when under pressure. Button didn't. He pushed when necessary, quietly pumping in fast laps. His overtaking was on a par with Hamilton and Alonso. He may have been too conservative for some in the second half of the season, but the championship is a marathon, not a sprint. His drive in Brazil was stunning, even though he didn't have the car underneath him to win. The second thing is the team. Like it or not, F1 is a team sport and the driver is just a small part of that team. Button's team did a better job than anybody else, just as Ferrari did for Schumacher for much of the last decade, and Williams did for Hill and Mansell before him. In fact, you probably have to go back to 1994/5 since the championship was won in a car significantly inferior to the class of the field. F1 design is all about interpreting the rules, and Honda did it best (don't forget that Toyota and Williams also started with the double diffuser, and neither troubled the leaderboard much). Ross Brawn even tried to get the diffuser loophole closed when the rules were being finalised, but he was unsuccessful. In any case, the Brawn car was badly compromised in other ways to accomodate the Mercedes engine, which makes their performance even more amazing.
