  1. Visited the Normandy beaches (and Arnhem) many years ago, and am very glad not to be placed in the same situation of the lads back then. We owe them a huge debt, not least to remember their sacrifice. Always brings a tear to the eye to see the veterans (old and, sadly, young) at the Remembrance Parade.
  2. That's bollocks. News reporting has gone downhill across the board in recent years, as news organisations struggle to make something appear interesting every minute of the day. But the BBC is still the best one. The BBC (in my opinion, not that I watch much of it) produces more EDUCATIONAL children's television than the crap on the commercial channels. I'm delighted that they're showing F1 again, although ITV did a great job to be fair. The licence fee is a tiny amount compared to what many of us pay to get the 'extra' satellite and cable channels, many of which are showing BBC programmes. Anyway, thought this thread was about Neal Eardley...
  3. Spoke to a Udders season ticket holder at work the other day. He said that Worthington will chase the impossible all day, never gives up. But can't find a creative pass (which I think we'd gathered by now). I trust in DP's masterplan!
  4. The late, great Ray Hanna: http://www.youtube.com/watch?gl=GB&hl=...feature=related
  5. No point going over old ground too thoroughly, but Hughes/Allessandra was our best forward partnership at the start of the season. It was disrupted, for no other apparant reason than to bring in 'bigger' names on loan, who are well documented and never delivered. As for the end of the season, I could see the outcome after the Bristol Rovers game. I felt then we would never do it. But I never imagined it would be as bad as it was! I believe that the decision to sack Sheridan was the right one, and that we're further forward as a result. And I have high hopes for next season, but that's nothing new...
  6. No, who were dropped or played intermittently for most of the season. In one case particularly, despite a very promising start.
  7. Not really. We had too many injuries to the more experienced players.
  8. I bet a recording of the interview would sound quite different. Journalistic spin at work!
  9. Jan Budtz has been released! Hell! Maybe someone went "BOO!" behind him and he ran off. They must have thought their Lotto numbers had come in the day we took him on loan.
  10. I'd tell the first poster off for cyber-bullying Ronnie Moore! Do I get the job? I expect this will be gone in 5 minutes...
  11. That was funny! At least he laughed about it. Great stewarding today. Didn't interfere more than they had to, i.e. a token attempt to stop the conga.
  12. No doubt he'll have a Newton's Cradle on his desk.
  13. Nothing at all. Just shows how often what is originally reported doesn't actually turn out to be the truth. If it is found that the copper went way over the top, I agree. But only one side has been reported so far. None of us know what the situation was even a few yards from where the incident took place. I don't think that they are. But I believe in helping myself whenever possible, by not being present in such situations in the first place. I certainly wouldn't try to obstruct riot police trying to cope with a disturbance.
  14. I'm confused.. I've seen you in Tescos. So what are you going to wear for the game?
  15. It was fairly clear, from the original footage, that he wasn't just "making his way home". Saying that, the violence used sickened me at the time. Police are often put into awkward situations like this, where they have to make a judgement as to what they should do. I suppose they thought that if flattening the pissed up Millwall bloke would help, it was the right thing to do at the time. They can't ask for your medical records before dealing with you, after all. This story suggests he wasn't even employed as a paper seller. If I recall correctly, the original statements about his life were quoted in the Daily Mail (so no surprise there then).
  16. But he would, wouldn't he? Facts are that the guy was a pisshead, who had left his home due to being a pisshead, and was living in a hostel (possibly with many pissheads). He was clearly pissed when the well publicised incident occurred (and when the less well publicised ones did too). What happened might have been an aggravating factor, but I'd be surprised if his alcoholic history didn't play a part. Of course, it doesn't detract from the tragedy for his family (although I do wonder if compo is uppermost in some of their thoughts), and we should all remember how easy it is to fall into a similar situation.
  17. Why not post a big sticky about the Trust somewhere to make people aware of it's existence, what it does, etc.? Given that this is supposedly the official Trust MB, there's precious little about it that I can see.
  18. Erm... I think he was looking for minutes from previous meetings, not the date of the next one...
  19. There was an abusive post last night, which has been deleted and was WAY out of order. I'm sure nobody condones that sort of thing.
  20. I read it carefully - your post is typical of the condescending attitude that comes from the 'leaders' here at times. The 'closure' of the FC forum was nearly 24 hours ago. Posts were modified to frustrate those trying to attend the match. Why would a moderator do that? Why would the forum be closed without talking to those who play in and organise the team?
