  1. That's utter bollocks, and shows your ignorance of F1. Despite him playing for the Scum, I don't really mind Giggs. I guess this is a swansong to a great career.
  2. I can't believe most of this thread was written before we were even out of the pub!
  3. We could do with a man dressed as a Rubik's Cube to put them off again...
  4. I believe most places (e.g. the MEN Arena) have a common sense policy nowadays, whereby you can use a phone camera or small compact, but not a big jobbie with a telephoto lens (which might produce photographs which could be sold). No suprise to see our stewards not taking such an approach. The woman today was funny. "Well don't sit down then, it makes no difference to me if you do or not!"
  5. I live about 20 yards from a shop selling the Bison. And I live in Rochdale. But it's of little relevance when the new deal is with the Bison's opposition! When we lived in Oldham (admittedly many years ago now) the Advertiser went straight in the bin. Maybe it's better now - certainly the Latics reporting seems great.

  7. 1-0 against City at a guess. 8th January 2005. We couldn't connect to the game for the first minute or so, but it was fine once we did (full screen on a 26" TV). No dropouts or stutters.
  8. I was thinking it was a double banger.... As far as the council went, the Chair refused to believe the traffic figures, and asked for another survey. After a short recess (and no doubt a telling off from the legal people) he announced that another traffic survey wasn't possible, and that the figures quoted were 'what they were'. And he led it to be rejected anyway, on grounds of not believing the traffic survey. IMO that was clearly an illegal breach of his power, not to mention a slap in the face for the Council's traffic officer. The survey figures were explained to him before the second meeting, when he accepted the figures and the application was passed. I'm not sure this delay would have made a lot of difference to the way things turned out though. Something that struck me at the first meeting was the way that the club representative (SC) seemingly thought that all he had to do was turn up. He spoke for his 3 minutes like a kid that hadn't researched his school project, and was unable to answer questions convincingly. Ian Hill spoke at the second meeting, professionally and confidently. Let's hope that whichever plan goes forward, it's done properly.
  9. It is. 3 games against London clubs who will mainly come to play for 0-0. Mind you, the Wigan poster was hardly for the 3 biggest games. But at least there will be some Premiership quality on display. We don't have 3 even remotely glamourous home fixtures on the trot unfortunately. Or all season. But we could at least offer something similar - bums on seats will offset the fixed costs of running the club, and if there's a pie for them to buy, all the better.
  10. I think we'd do better to concentrate on keeping them away from here than going halfway around the world to tell people how to live. Difficult I know... It breaks my heart every time I hear of another family losing a son, all for some supposed goal which will never be achieved. And I don't even have any recent military connections. I would encourage everyone to support our forces, and those who have gone before them, at some local ceremony on Sunday.
  11. Personally, I think it's a good idea. But hardly revolutionary. Every time I pass the paper shop, I wonder why the next fixture isn't advertised on the side.
  12. Chris Taylor is injured. Hard to disagree with most of that TBH.
  13. Perhaps someone should open up another chain in competition.
  14. FFS. Can't even spell 'racist'! Back to school!
  15. IMO they celebrate (by and large) :censored:e music, but that's their right! Is that really your best shot?
  16. But really, even though you're an upper-middle class white man, don't even be tempted. Especially to prove some sort of point to the MEN.
  17. Walk in and scribble all over your ballot paper. Been done for years in parts of the UK.
  18. Not to add fuel to his BNP fire, but they weren't convicted of killing him. I'd imagine the victim's family are a bit pissed off...
  19. So, the failure to solve what was possibly a racist murder is a good reason to vote for the BNP?
