  1. Same with me. Has been doing it intermittently for the last week or so. It shows me a pane of four adverts over where the writing should be. Is it to do with me using safari on a mac?
  2. I have frequently said that if I ever come to write an autobiography, it will be entitled 'Mark Hughes ruined my life'.
  3. My first ever Latics match, clung to the railings of the chaddy. Mike Cecere hat-trick against Birmingham, won 4-0. 1988/9. Think he was sold straight after!
  4. It's true. I think the club in general gets a lot of unfair stick from our fans but it is this kind of decision that gives them a bad name. I'm not so bothered about Wallsall but to voluntarily seek to change what will be (unfortunately) our biggest match of the season to a Tuesday night just seems absolute madness. The decreased attendance would easily be in four figures. Surely the police can't charge that much??!!
  5. It's really annoying that they move all the best matches to midweek. I know the reasons behind it but you wouldn't expect the club to try to make it worse. Moving Rochdale to a Tuesday night would surely take a few thousand off the attendance? Talk about shooting yourself in the foot! At least Hudders away is on a Saturday. This may involve a few hours on the drink perhaps!
  6. Please tell me this roylearmy fellow is a joke. Anyone remember plakkilakki from the jklatics days? He was brilliant! I think paul dickov should be the horlympic manager...
  7. I'm veering towards Ossie Ardiles purely based on the fact that he likes to play 5 up front (according to wikipedia). That should at least stop anyone moaning about negative football. Actually would quite like him or Gannon purely based on the fact that they both seem fairly bonkers and would provide endless entertainment!
  8. As I understand it premier league clubs pay for their young players to have an echo but this is certainly not universal throughout the professional game. Also although the incidence of HOCM may be 1:500 this is misleading as to how many professional footballers may have this condition since the majority of sufferers will have a severely limited exercise tolerance, precluding employment as a professional footballer. (Well perhaps not at Latics) And rudemedic I should not be so overconfident in your diagnostic skills as to think you would pick up all or most Marfan's syndrome. You may find surprising the number of people who have their Marfan's diagnosed by incidental finding of aortic root dilatation on echo. As to viral myocarditis, as it is by definition transient any echocardiographic signs are unlikely to be picked up on an interval echo as it is likely to take place while not suffering form the illness. You are likely to be too unwell to be playing football (although sudden cardiac death has been reported). Also I am not aware that it is much more likely to cause death to a professional footballer than any other member of the population. Especially given the chances are you would be too unwell to be playing football at the time. Also to be added to our list of differentials is the unfortunate Brugada syndrome. Which would not be picked up on echo and may or may not be by ECG.
  9. 14000 something, 600 ish from oldham. Played the best I've seen us play in the first half. Good passing. Creative. Battling and desperately unlucky not to score. Then we lose one to more shoddy defending from hazell. Second half pretty much a non event until near the end when lee was sent off harshly. I only remember him making two fouls all game and he got booked for both of them. A lot of pressure from us at the end but not really looking like scoring then they score on the break. Surely taking Abbott off for Colbeck can't have been a tactical substitution. Was he injured?
  10. Taylor had more runs with the ball this evening than he has done all season. Hopefully a sign of things to come. Overall we played very well indeed in patches, not brilliant but probably the best I've seen us play this season. Onwards and upwards! Maybe a late surge for the play offs. (Only joking)
  11. Just flicking over on the TV and Sale are at home on the TV. I'd heard it was bad but that pitch is appalling. It really is the worst pitch I have ever seen. We had some shockers in the first few years after the plastic fantastic was ripped up but this is just sandy mud with a few blades of grass in the corners. The commentators are complaining its not even good enough for rugby. Thank goodness the rugby wont be playing on our pitch in the future.
  12. There is no doubt that the TTA have been saviours to this club and some of the people suggesting that they go are living in a fantasy land. Who else is going to come in and fund our ongoing losses? There is hardly a massive queue of people waiting to spend a fortune on third tier football. We would be in administration in short order and probably without a football club. We have to just ride out this temporary decline in our playing fortunes and wait for the good times again.
  13. I thought we were going to lose but had a dream last night that we win 8-1 so thats what will happen!
  14. ps I have frequently (seriously) said in the past that if i ever have reason to write my autobiography that it will be called 'mark hughes ruined my life'. Maybe I should add Kaiser Bill to the title
  15. Yes Kaiser Wilhelm and Mark Hughes are personally responsible for the state we find ourselves in today.
  16. It's a fact that the pitch got significantly worse after the rugby started their season.
  17. Because history aside he is the most experienced, proven, successful manager that we could attract in our wildest dreams... I'd be saying that even if he had achieved what he had previously with other clubs instead of us.
  18. Was actually nice to see us play some good attacking, attractive football for a change. We played some entertaining stuff in the second half. Not that bothered about the result to be honest as we know we can't get into the playoffs anyway.
  19. Was that the night we were winning five nil with ten minutes to go and it ended up 5 - 3? Or am i getting mixed up with another very cold wintery night? Seem to remember the ipswich team all wearing short sleeves!
