  1. Congratulations Ackey, I'm sure you will attain the standards that Stu Vose reached. It must be a dream job to be working for the club.
  2. I think you've got other things to worry about. Barnes and McAteer being just two of them.... Good luck, Mark Allott.
  3. I do. He seems to have brought some talented, young prospects on board. Gregan excluded. We should be an unknown quantity this season with all the new personnel.
  4. You can just imagine Sven in a Hughes headlock. Exciting times for Notts County.
  5. Alright, alright, so you're a Tranmere fan! We never would have guessed!!! Go along now, there's nothing to see here. I hope you're happy with Allott.
  6. If I had the chance to go to Tranmere, I still wouldn't go, because I'm a LATICS fan. What makes you think Barnes is any better or that Tranmere are a better prospect?
  7. Isn't it great how Latics fans can talk their own players up? Looks like 175k is a bargain, then.
  8. Metropolitan Borough of Bolton - Population 262,400 Metroploitan Borough of Oldham - Population 103,544 There's a good reason. Horwich - 5.8 miles from Bolton town centre. Failsworth - 4.2 miles from Oldham town centre.
  9. Un - fookin'- believable! How the hell do you know the outcome of Keigan Parker playing under Penney? How the hell does anybody know how any member of this squad is going to perform until they have played a good many games and had the opportunity to gel as a team? I didn't realise that a stream top quality players were queuing at the doors of Boundary park, begging to play for the Latics! Maybe we should go back to the tosh we had last season? I give in!
  10. I agree. Why don't we just stay at BP and let it crumble around our feet? Is a half-full, three sided dump better than a half-full state of the art facility? I really can't understand this expectancy that we will get back in the Premiership and then, somehow, manage to stay in it. Let's be realistic. We are a small club, based in a small town, with a small fan base in a small catchment area. We are not Manchester United, Manchester City, Liverpool, Everton or even Bolton and Wigan. We have not got the financial clout or backing of the likes of Doncaster. I would be happy to watch Championship side in a modern, accessible stadium that is not echoing to the sound of empty seats. Why don't we let the TTA get on with it? They are not stupid, they are business men and I'm sure that every eventuality will be considered.
  11. Have we seen enough of Lee to justify that comment?
  12. Ha, ha! Whatever the send-off, good luck to all taking part, it's not going to be easy, but I hope you can enjoy the experience as well.
  13. I wouldn't be concerned about the proximity to Eastlands. Why does it matter? If you are a Latics fan, it could be next door to Old Trafford, but it doesn't mean you'll watch the Scum instead, does it? If the road links and adjacent area provides better access, then it's got to be better for the fans.
  14. I take it that this means next Wednesday (22nd July) and not yesterday, in which case, they've really jumped the gun. Just as we seem to get on-side with the Council, the 'Chron shows its true face. They'll be setting themselves up to champion the cause of the Failsworth Dynamos Football Club in a 'David and Goliath' style campaign.
  15. They've probably had the 'feelers' out already and there are always people around who will buy land, sit on it and wait for the market to pick up, which it inevitably will. Then they build on it. Chances are, if this comes off, BP will stay with us until we are ready to move, then, watch the Nimbys who protested at its renovation cry, as it becomes dilapidated in front of their very eyes. A good opportunity, irrelevant of the proximity to Eastlands and hopefully the situation with those already involved can be remedied. As for the 'Chron, well, it's not repeatable!
  16. Don't know if this has already been pointed out. Could have changed his mind after seeing Fleming and Ollerenshaw in training and decided to let Fleming go and risk it. Plus points are less/freed-up wages and Ollerenshaw gets more experience. Negatives are the possibility of some other team's goalkeeping cast-off and a distinct lack of competition for Brill. I don't agree with the train of thought that the 'keeper's position is an easy one to fill and we could pick one up quite easily. A 'keeper won't come here to sit on the bench, should Penney go with Ollerenshaw if Brill gets injured and decent 'keepers won't be available. We'd probably end up with an unknown quantity from the Championship/Premiership. Hopefully, it won't come to that.
  17. ...and he's 6'2", which makes a bloody change for the Latics!
  18. Good signing! Good FREE signing! I'm not going to succumb to this "injury prone, no one else will have him" mentality. Let's wait and see, shall we? Welcome to BP, Pawel Abbott.
  19. New manager, new players. How can anybody form an opinion on either, until we've seen a full season under their belts? Fans' opinions about players is subjective, some see good, some see bad. We can't base our opinions on what 'somebody's mate says' or a few postings on a message board. Christ! You only have to look on here to see that! Latics and Penney need to be shrewd and let's face it, the top quality players ain't going to be coming to Boundary Park, because we can't afford them. Let's see what the manager can do with his squad. Good luck JJ.
  20. Will this be in the 'Chron tomorrow? Sad to see Smalley leave, if true, but it will be a very good move for him.
  21. It's beginning to look that way. Obviously, he won't reveal his source, but we could do with a bit more substantiation than "I understand..." I wouldn't be adverse to Trotman on a season-long loan, in fact, I'd be quite happy, but he would have to prove his fitness before that happens and I'm sure Penney will feel the same.
  22. The squad is looking pretty thin on the ground, at the moment, in all areas.
