  1. He talked the talk, but was naive tactically. He'd have been an ideal Latics manager.
  2. Unfortunately modern day supporters don't have the patience for 'transition' and 'projects' anymore. Yes, yesterday was frustrating, but we were only beaten 1-0 by a very well organised side. The only hyperbole I've seen has been some of the reactions to the defeat.
  3. Sorry to hear about your problems BP, makes your frustrations more understandable. Although what I would say is, never look to Latics for a reprieve from your personal toils; believe me, I've tried it.
  4. Definitely, that's the whole point of a forum. But it's a fine line between expressing an opinion and posting nonsense just to blow off steam, which seems to have been happening a lot tonight. Hopefully tomorrow will bring some more reasoned (and sober) debate.
  5. I thought Walsall were decent actually, a very professional away performance. I hope we learn as much from their display as ours. It's going to take time. Johnson clearly has an ideology in mind and that kind of style doesn't develop overnight, especially at this level. For once, Latics fans need to show some patience. Some of the responses to today's display have been pretty odd, it really wasn't that bad. Patience.
  6. Everybody's entitled to have different views. But when they're as daft as this: they're probably best kept to yourself.
  7. I was chuffed it was back until I decided to log onto OWTB. Now I just want to cry in the shower
  8. Has anyone actually got great expectations though? I'd say most Latics fans realistically would be happy just to improve drastically on last season, maybe with a comfortable mid-table finish. And there's nothing to say we couldn't make a push for the play-offs, given how dire this division is yet again. I haven't really noticed all this 'hyperbole' some people seem to keep bringing up. Although I haven't been visiting this place that often...
  9. This is what has frustrated me. It's not just your run of the mill booing and moaning, it's actual personal abuse. A fella behind me called Byrne a :censored:ing prick. Two games in and it's started already. I'm gonna lose my rag one of these days, it's appalling.
  10. I'd be delighted with a top ten finish. This is a rebuilding season, we aren't going to get promoted.
  11. First I've seen of this new lot and I don't think we were that bad. There's plenty of work to be done, but there's enough encouraging signs. I think once this front six get properly accustomed to each other we could be a force. Rome wasn't built in a day and all that. If there's one thing that'll stop me going to home matches though, it's the moaners. It only took them 30 odd minutes to start up today. I'm sick to my back teeth of it in all honesty, it's the same every season.
  12. Anyone got the 5-0 win against Swindon in 1997 (ish)? Stuart Barlow got a hat-trick. It was my first game, or at least the first I can remember, so I wouldn't mind seeing it for nostalgia purposes.
  13. How far out from North London is it? I'm heading down to Willesden on Saturday morning but I'm not sure I'll have time to make it over unfortunately.
  14. This time last year we were going into the new season with a frontline of Simpson, Smith and Slew. Yeah, I'm a tad more optimistic this time round.
  15. It's not so much the fact he had drugs, more that he was hnadling them that got him into bother. You can't hnadle drugs in this day and age.
  16. My source is made up in fairness, so probably not all that reliable. In fact I wasn't even at the game.
  17. A source at the game told me he'll be a Doncaster player by the start of the season
