  1. Well, the three league games he started we won, and the two he didn't we lost. Coincidence? Possibly. But he clearly had some sort of impact in those games.
  2. ? I've heard it's the London version of the Merseyside derby. Both sets of fans walk to the stadium hand in hand, then embrace each other in joyous song during the game.
  3. Clearly didn't have the balls for a relegation scrap, despite being one of the reasons we're in one. :censored: him.
  4. Most defences in this division have contained him without too much hassle. There is not a chance he'd make it at a higher level.
  5. Nailed it Bristol. In my opinion, given the attendances we get and the resources we have, I think we've done well just to consistently consolidate our position in this division. Especially when you look at some of the clubs that have been relegated in recent years and have stagnated in League 2 or worse (Bradford, Port Vale, Stockport, Luton etc etc etc...). I know it's not the most ambitious outlook to have, but it's a realistic one. The Stockport and Luton examples show how things could've been much, much worse...
  6. Probably the most annoying thing about this side is that there isn't any players I'd single out as being particularly poor, which has certainly been the case in previous squads that have struggled. So it isn't a lack of talent that has got them in the predicament they find ourselves in. And we can't lay all its shortcomings at Dickov's door, especially as they're still showing those same shortcomings now he has departed. As many on here have pointed out, the players talk a good fight on social media, but so many times instead produce a completely gutless display. Then they finally give us a couple of decent displays, look like they've finally turned a corner and got our season on track, only to then revert back to type. It's infuriating tbh, and you wonder how many of them are genuinely concerned about us being relegated this season. The commitment just doesn't seem to be there. I apologise if this turned into an incoherent rant, I'm awake at 3 o clock in the morning doing my dissertation so understandably my brain has began to turn into mush...
  7. When you feeling like loving, I feel like loving too...
  8. He was a bit crap for us in all honesty, and he's done nothing since he left up until this season to suggest he would've taken us up at any point. There's been a fair amount of revisionism in recent seasons by some Latics fans though. I didn't see too many people complaining when we were 90 minutes away from the play-off final the season after we sacked him...
  9. I honestly think I'd sooner have Dave Penney back.
  10. The only Smith-like player I can remember in the Premiership in recent years is Nikola Zigic for Birmingham, and he was god awful. That's probably why.
  11. I met some Groningen fans over in Amsterdam, friendly bunch. They had an absolute nightmare trying to teach me how to properly pronounce Groningen though. I swear it isn't possible for anyone but the Dutch. I also attempted to teach them the I'm a bastard song, which was met with bewilderment and the reply "Why would you chant a song calling yourself a bastard?". Actually now I think about it, I follow NAC Breda's results too, as one of my best mates is from there.
  12. AC Meelan Most of my favourite (non-Latics) footballers have played there at one point or another over the past decade. Maldini, Ronaldo, Shevchenko, Pirlo, Rui Costa etc etc etc...
  13. This. Plus the fact that United had enough chances over the two legs to bury Madrid, and bottled them all. RVP was completely anonymous as well.
  14. Yeah. Latics fans that have been disillusioned for the past few seasons by poor performance and high ticket prices, etc. We were averaging 5/6 thousand + a few seasons ago, do you think all those other fans just evaporated?
  15. United and Citeh fans knowing what an 'atmosphere' is for starters.
  16. Everton fans seem a good sort generally tbf, especially compared to that shower of :censored:e across Stanley Park. Good luck in the rest of the competition, if you could knock out United or Citeh along the way that'd be grand
  17. Fair point. Which is ironic, considering in the past 30 odd years they've been in the top tier for about 2 more seasons than we have...
  18. It's not worth having a better view if it means being surrounded by Sheffield United fans, trust me.
  19. I've never understood this weird superiority complex Premier League supporters have simply because they happen to support a bigger club, as if that's some kind of personal achievement on their part. You're still Scousers lads, the boils on the arse of the North.
