  1. ....but it's OK for you to regularly/constantly opine about the FLG because we don't know who they are...? ....I don't [necessarily] see it like that. If Mr. Lemsagam ran it properly, good governance, respectful treatment of employees et al.... they presumably would be happy for him to continue to own it. They are only here / readying themselves to own it because they believe it may end up like Bolton or Bury in the near future... and without the land, it would be more certain of liquidation / no phoenix.
  2. Yeah.... I think you're probably right.... but if we assume the FLG do have the club's best interests at heart.... then it's with Mr. Lemsagam to bury his ego to prove to the fanbase [he wants to be on his side] that he is to be trusted.
  3. I think it's naive not to be suspicious of Mr. Lemsagam because his motives are unclear....! I think the FLG's primary motive [even if there are secondary motives at play] is clear.....! AND.... I can't imagine/envisage/speculate on a secondary motive that is worse than the status quo? Feel free to fill any blanks in for me if you believe there are some?
  4. Blitz & Gazal's [not Latics fans] motive = Land. Corney's [not a Latics fan] motive = Lifestyle. Abdallah's [not a Latics fan] motive = ???????? FLG's [Latics fans] motive = Stopping land falling into hands of developers / providing base from which to secure club or begin Phoenix if/when club ends up in administration/liquidation.
  5. Did we also have a go at Friday night [as opposed to Sat 3pm] games, once the floodlights were installed, to see if we could convince glory hunting [Yoonited & Citeh fans] Oldhamer's to turn up / increase the gates? Stockport and Tranmere did the same I believe....?
  6. So, we're now a little under 3 weeks away from the first game and your first Prediction. You might be wanting to know 'How it works' from there....? Points are scored accordingly; Correct result (i.e. W,L or D) +2ptsCorrect no. of goals for Latics +1pt;Correct no. of goals for opposition +1pt;Correct full-time score +2pts;Correct half-time score +2pts;First scorer +3pts;Within 100 of attendance +3pts;Within 10 of attendance +5pts;Exact attendance +20pts; The maximum number of points you could therefore score on a individual game would be 31. Unsurprisingly, short of foul play @24hoursfromtulsehill this has never happened. In the season just complete, the top score/Prediction for any game was made by @youngen who amassed 22 for this effort against MK Dons (a) when the correct Prediction would've [sadly] been; MK Dons 2 Latics 1 [HT 1-1] First Latics Scorer: Tom Hamer Attendance: 5,950 Another notable effort was from @maximus1267 for his 13 pointer against Crawley (h) when the correct Prediction would've been; Latics 2 Crawley Town 1 [HT 1-1] First Latics Scorer: Gevaro Nepomuceno Attendance: 4,160 Reckon you could do better? All you've got to do is; Pay the £5 entrance fee via PayPal to stevie_j@owtb.co.uk (Please note the underscore) with your OWTB username in the comments box and your name will appear in the following Participants thread; Keep popping back into this thread as I explain more about how it works and what's new.
  7. Removed when the Plastic was laid? Were we one of the 1st? Were we one of the 1st to install floodlights too? Or am I making both these things up?
  8. Blitz couldn’t be arsed.... ....Marco wouldn’t/couldn’t agree terms to make it happen.... ....a few fans get involved and hey presto. Gives you an insight into what could be achieved if people who’s motives and intentions were aligned with the rest of us, owned the club.
  9. Exactly. The game generally is so narrow now.... because it’s defensively more secure. I’d rather try to win 3-2 & accept I’ll lose some 2-3, than always set up trying for a 1-0.
  10. Yes. More of that please. It’s the exception, not the rule.
  11. The thing I most object to about modern football is the fact that wingers no longer cross the ball. I used to love watching a winger and full back overlap, get to the bye line and whip a cross in for a striker/forward to attack, be that the "big lad" heading in, or someone else ghosting in. Its partly what defined us. Wright, Holden, Adams, Eyres, Liddell. You just don't see it anymore do you? It got you out of your seat. 15 passes between the back 4 most certainly doesn't.
  12. Here's a brace from Chris Porter in a game against Bradford from 2006. Correct Prediction; 18th November 2006 Latics 2 Bradford 0 [HT 0-0] First Latics Scorer: Chris Porter Attendance: 6,001 Fancy joining in? Please keep revisiting this thread over the coming weeks, where I will explain more about; How it works/What's new, Who benefits, Why you should consider joining in.
  13. There wasn't anybody in League Two last season who averaged over 10,000 at home..... but that might change with Bradford and Plymouth coming down. Here is a game against Plymouth from Easter Monday 1991. Correct Prediction on this day would've been; 1st April 1991; Plymouth 1 Latics 2 [HT 0-1] First Latics Scorer: Andy Ritchie Attendance: 8.852 Fancy joining in? Visit the OWTB Prediction League Forum where you will find a description of the rules; http://www.owtb.co.uk/forum/78-owtb-prediction-league/ All you have to do is pay the £5 entrance fee via PayPal to stevie_j@owtb.co.uk (Please note the underscore) with your OWTB username in the comments box and your name will appear in the following Participants thread; ....afterwhich, a thread will appear for you to place your Prediction, no later than 10 minutes before KO on Saturday 3th August. 14. ....whoever updated it, is inept and it’s an embarrassment.... I’m happy for the Trust - our representation - to make that known to club officials.... but more importantly, I’d like them to express our serious concerns over treatment of staff.
  15. Inept. Absolute jokers. @Andy b, @underdog can we get Darren onto this please?
  16. Did you see this post I made in the Prediction League marketing thread t'other day....?
  17. Ere yar.... cheer yourself up by watching this.... it works for me....
  18. So we could be facing Peter Clarke in a group game then.....?
  19. One already knows about Maouche having seen him play for us 30 odd times, so one feels confident in doing so.... One does... One disagrees.... Indeed we do.
  20. I flew to South Korea to play in an amateur international football tournament in 2002, a couple of months after the World Cup in Japan/South Korea had finished and played a couple of games in the stadia used for the World Cup.... anyway, on the Korean Airways flight back from Seoul to London, we experience the worst turbulence I've still ever experienced.... it seemed to go on for a good 20-25 mins. The locals aboard were literally screaming with fear. 16 male westerners were attempting to remain calm for fear of losing face amongst our own.... when it ended, the pilot announced over the tannoy [in the most perfectly spoken english accent], "I think we're through the worst of that now ladies and gentlemen...".... we all cheered then.
