  1. Teriffic -- Makes you feel proud of the club when you see a stadium built on the lines that you have sketched. Really would make an impression and bring back some fans. Nice to see we have some fans who are truly trying to lift the club. Well done.
  2. He must stay for stability and because I think he will produce a decent team if given the time, even without a bulging wallet.
  3. Dickov has worked miracles and needs time to build the side. There are boys playing at the moment and not men, but one thing for sure if they continue to play with each other for another year or two, the side will be a lot better. We obviously need a couple of new players, but on the whole progress will only be seen if a team is settled as that breeds confidence. We certainly have a great manager who o.k. makes mistakes, but he loves the club and shows his commitment when he is interviewed. It's up to the players to show what they can do week in week out. It shows what can be done with team spirit when you look at Stevenage who have certainly got no star players, but they've got players who show willing on the pitch every match.
  4. Oldham boss Paul Dickov blasted his players for ignoring his pre-match instructions after they were crushed 5-0 by MK Dons. Dean Bowditch's penalty had given the Dons a slender half-time lead, before Daniel Powell's double and further strikes from Mathias Doumbe and Stephen Gleeson emphatically sealed their first win in six games. "I'll start by apologising to the fans who came down, it just wasn't good enough," said Dickov. "If people don't want to take on board what we tell them to do and what we work on from Monday to Friday and they think they can go out on a Saturday and do what they want, then they won't have a career in football. "Sometimes people want to go out there and they think they are better than what they are and that was the case. If you don't do your jobs properly against a good team, and I think MK are the best team in the division, then you're not going to win the game. "There's 1,200 players out of contract in the summer and a lot of them in there think they're good enough to go and get another club - on that performance I would doubt that." Dickov has been linked with the vacant managerial position at Huddersfield but he admitted this result will have harmed his chances, saying "I won't be odds-on favourite now!" Seems to answer a few questions. Bet some players ears are burning tonight, and they should be !!!!!
  5. Would be nice if he signed permanently, as he is young and enthusiastic. Given time will be an asset. He has done well so far this season and has definitely progressed since he arrived at Latics.
  6. Yes you are right. Look at the topic Chrissy T and you will see that the majority of people appear to have similiar feelings.
  7. Taylor in no way was the best outfield player. Morais did o.k. but is far from the player he was last season, however I must admit he did improve a little yesterday. Oh and by the way having watched Latics for over 50 years I reckon I can see alright. I think it's you who needs specs in relation to Taylor. He was never the December player of the month either !!!
  8. Cisak, Lee, Mvoto, Tarkowski, Adeyemi deserved their wages today. Smith also did o.k. when he came on. The others should be brought back tomorrow for extra training. We certainly need a striker up front with a bit of speed. I think mid table will now be where we will finish. Let's be right we should have beaten Exeter, and a few other teams this year, but as usual we only seem to play our best football when we play the so called bigger teams. Noticed the usual first rate fans attended again today, while the armchair brigade will await their hopeful chance of getting a ticket for Wembley when we beat Chesterfield.
  9. Does anyone else think we need another striker in order to 1) rest Kuqi for a couple of games, as he has worked himself to the ground and looks a little tired at present due to the amount of effort he has put in since playing for us, 2) Reid will take some time to get back to full fitness after his absence through injury, and 3) Smith is a bit slow for this league at the moment and at the moment Paul Dickov is using him as a substitute, quite rightly, as he needs to watch and learn from his striker colleagues. To me he is one for the future, but I feel we need someone with a bit of speed to turn defences round.
  10. Kuqi. -- The amount of effort he puts into his game, and the commitment he gives on the pitch is 2nd to none. He may be slowing down at present, but for his age he has been invaluable to the side, especially for the youngsters in the side. I do however feel that Paul Dickov will be eyeing another striker in the near future, in order to give Kuqi time to have a rest, in case we make the play offs. As for Hughes, he certainly knows where the net is and would, I have no doubt, be an asset to any side. If you noticed yesterday he did not celebrate his goal in his usual style, and I think he still has a lot of affection for the club. However I think he would not be on P.D's top ten list.
  11. Stargazer I think you live up to your name. You obviously were not watching the same game as me and a lot of other Latics fans. As for the noise you mention, the Latics fans made most of the noise from the Main Stand paddock area, as fans saw what I saw, a referee who was far from being a Premiership ref, and a cock eyed assistant who could do with glasses and a copy of the offside rules to read with them. How he could give a penalty against Simpson I will never know, since Simpson was fouled by a 2 footed tackle, prior to going shoulder to shoulder against their player. The crowd including Wednesday fans thought the ref had given a foul for us, but when he pointed to the spot it was because his assistant raised had raised his flag and had clearly not seen the foul on Simpson because of his grey tinted eyes. ----- The lads did us proud as far as I am concerned and I'm sure we will be up there in the top 6 by the end of the season.
  12. Nice to hear such love for your own town team. I too feel the same as you in the fact that the atmosphere in the club lately is certainly getting better without a doubt. I watched the players before the match actually started and noticed how each and everyone of them gave one another a pat on the back, which showed to me that they are in for the fight. They certainly played well today, against Sheff Wed, the ref and his idiot of an assistant. I was not annoyed with the defeat, and I feel that if the team continue in the same vein, we will be in the play off's at the end of the season.
  13. Nice to hear a manager who certainly gives 100% in effort to do his job and, in my opinion, deserves all the plaudits he gets. He has done really well in getting players to come to the club on a really low budget. Long may he continue, and I am sure under his guidance we can achieve our objective of Championship football sooner rather than later.
  14. Whoever the striker is, Paul Dickov will only sign someone who wants to play for the club and not just pick up his wages and sit in the reserves.Paul I am sure will get the right man eventually I have no doubt. The players these days have to yearn and earn for the right to be in a Latics shirt and long may it continue.
  15. Phil your right. My mate sent me a text to me at work. I've just seen that he was at Brentford last year myself, so apologies to one and all. My mate also sends his.
  16. It's not Simpson he signed for Brentford on year loan apparently.
  17. It could only happen to Latics. Get the Oldham Arena built as it was the original plan, and I sincerely hope that all the legal fees in respect of this jamboree are paid by the Charity Commission / Council and the club recompensed for the shambles in their attempts to get a new stadium built. If we stay at B.P. I suggest the new houses behind the Chaddy end are flattened and another little wembeley training pitch, replace them, as there will then be room for the Chaddy end to be extended if required in the future. Makes my blood boil with the total apethetic way the council have dealt with this saga.
  18. Fingers crossed then that Dickov gets this news.
  19. Amos believed to be pondering over his future at Old Trafford. Pity Dickov did not know that when we loaned Johnson from Man U.
  20. Rick is brilliant. He really loves the club and he certainly would do a good job on the Latics board, being an ex player. His recent book is a brilliant one and I cannot wait for his new one which I believe is published in October. He was and still is my favourite player of all time. Wish he was about 20 and signing on again. Best crosser of a ball that the club has ever had.
  21. Good to see that at last the Council are at last showing interest in the clubs plight. However I also notice they have asked a certain OLDHAM ATHLETIC to fan, ex football player supreme, Paul Scholes to become an ambassador for the town to cash in on the 2012 London Olympics. Makes you wonder if Paul answered them as follows: "Why should I when you the Council fail to support Oldham's home town team, OLDHAM ATHLETIC ?" Whether or not, I do agree with some of the contributions above, who mention that the new stand should be built further back than the previous stand and move the pitch nearer to the new stand. This would then allow the old main stand to be built on the same size and scale as the new Broadway stand, making the ground nice an square. After that the Chaddy end could be rebuilt and the RRE be extended in time to finish off the stadium. May take time but I feel that the atmosphere that is missing at the moment would increase enormously. For now I just pray that this is the turning point, after years of anguish, for the the club to achieve it's aim of a ground to be proud of.
