  1. Anybody can beat anybody in this league apparently. Unfortunately we can only beat Aldershot
  2. I think this is where our recruitment has been flawed. We seemed to have collected centre forwards and now have no idea what to do with them all. We can’t play three of them as that just doesn’t work attacking wise. For 4 3 3 you need one centre forward (Norwood for me) and two buzzing around beside him who can drop back into midfield when needed. Nobody plays three out and centre forwards in a front three, but we seem to be trying to shoehorn players in there. With the strikers we have 4 4 2 would suit is best, but the two in midfield get swamped and aren’t good enough anyway, and we lack the quality out wide. I think we get bogged down with systems at times. Any formation will work if you play it right, and all can be attacking or defensive depending on how it’s utilised. Unfortunately we seem all over the place whichever formation we use.
  3. The problem is, getting rid of the manager isn’t the answer. The answer is getting the right man in. Obviously , you’ve got to move out the one there to bring someone else in, but if he isn’t right either then it’s back to square one. Much as I love Shez the time was right for him to go, as many were demanding, but so far it’s solved nothing. There’s no doubt plenty of good potential managers out there, but plenty of not so good ones too. We can all say who we should get if Unsworth goes, but we’ve no idea who’ll we’ll get in and it won’t be up to us anyway. I know we can’t just use that as an excuse to keep Unsworth in a job, but iunless we get the next one right we’ll be here again not too long from now.
  4. I agree with this. Do I think he’s the man to take the club forward - probably not. Do I know for certain- No I’d give him a bit more time even though I’m running out of patience. I think the board will give him more, so I expect him to be here for a while yet.
  5. That’s pretty much as I see it. The next five home games are Dorking, York, Oxford City , Maidenhead and Dagenham. We should be winning all those, especially as we’ve lost two at home already, or picking up a decent points haul at least. Gateshead on Saturday could be tricky, as they had our number last season and are a better footballing side than we are(alarming really given our resources compared to theirs). After that we have Bromley, Kidderminster and Wealdstone so there’s points to be had there. Any manager should be able to pull us away from where we are, and once we move up the table the ‘x amount of points of the playoffs’ lads will be out so he’ll be safe for a while. We need to be going for the very top in my opinion, but if he can weather this storm and have us hanging around seventh place I don’t see him going anywhere.
  6. So it can’t happen then? If we ever get a winning team we have to accept it’s going to be boring, and if it’s entertaining we must be shit. Is that how it works?
  7. They only won nine out of twenty three home games last season and have already lost once there this season, so plenty of teams seem to ‘get a point’ there.
  8. I agree with you and I’m no fan of his, but we have a run of fixtures coming up in Sept and Oct that it will be practically impossible for us not to pick up a good number of points that will see us move up the table towards or into the playoffs. For me, that’s not enough if we are not challenging for the title, but hovering around Seventh place will keep his supporters happy and him in a job. I’m not at the ‘sack him’ stage yet, mainly because I just don’t see it happening so am still hoping he can turn it round, but how anyone can say he’s doing a good job is beyond me.
  9. Come on, we were outstanding last week, and missed six good chances before Sutton got sent off at Southend according to the boss, and I believe everything he says.
  10. We don’t know if getting them ‘back’ is the answer either as they’ve not played for us yet, bar the odd friendly and Ward’s 20 minutes against Southend.
  11. Probably the same place the Athleticos got it from. It was first done many years ago when Hull fans were trying to get rid of David Lloyd, the former tennis player who owned them and was running them into the ground. For them it was a catchy gimmick, but has been done many times since by protesting fans with no relevance to tennis.Always grabs the media’s attention though.
  12. The next three games are against sides we couldn’t muster a win against last season ( even due our amazing second half of the season). Surely we should do better this time round. The eight or nine games after that are all games we should be expecting to win. We won’t, but we should pick up plenty of points, so that when the table starts to take shape we should be up near the top. Given the backing Unsworth has had in relation to the rest, and how poor this league actually is, it’d be difficult for us not to be close to the top really, so it’ll probably be a lot calmer then.
  13. I’m no Unsworth fan, but didn’t join in any of that and I’m not for firing him off yet anyway. Ultimately he lost his shit, as he seems to do most weeks, and I can’t be arsed listening to his weekly rants, so I won’t.
  14. I’m sure he did, or words to that effect anyway. I’m not angry, I just can’t be arsed to listen to it anymore.
  15. Think I’ll give the pod a swerve for a while. Anyone who says “we can all have an opinion, but shut the fuck up” really needs to heed his own advice.
  16. Although I don’t agree with the Easter bit, I can’t see us not finishing in the playoffs, despite my reservations about Unsworth. A decent manager would definitely have us challenging for the title, and if we finish seventh that won’t be any sort of achievement to me
  17. It’s his default position. If you don’t agree with him you’re a prick , numpty or whatever his word of the day is. You can’t blame Unsworth for anything and it’s all Abdallah,’s fault anyway
  18. I heard the same. Heard Rooney had been offered a payoff which he’s refused, as he’s perfectly entitled to do. I’m baffled as to why we gave Hope a new deal in the summer and now trying to get shut of him as soon as the season starts.
  19. I suppose there’s still hope under Unsworth. It seems nobody in Spain can stand their women’s football manager, including all the players, but they’ve just won the World Cup
  20. It seems to be that if we have a decent away following and score a late equaliser/winner, there will be a pitch invasion. Bizarre, and sooner or later we could end up in big trouble for it.
  21. Not going to get into the Unsworth out debate as it’s been done to death. Delighted with the point, but overall thought it was a poor game of football, with neither side playing well. Based on that, I’m not sure why he’s presenting the title to Chesterfield
  22. If we are mid table or worse after 15 games, which is we’re 3 points off seventh may we’ll put us, he’ll have shown he has taken us backwards from last season despite such heavy backing. With the squad we now have it shouldn’t be possible to be lower than seventh, and we shouldn’t be even thinking that way. I expect the board to think around the playoffs is acceptable so I don’t see him as being under any pressure, unless he totally fucks up.
