  1. Get rid of Taggart and bring some coaching experience in......I really don't see what he brings to the table except alot of aimless shouting usually after conceding. You can't afford to have two rookies cutting their teeth at the same time, Dickov keeps going on about getting the basics right, well, what the hell happened today. We should have played three centre backs today and a five man midfield yet we once again go gung ho with two totally ineffective wingers.......why we persist with these tactics God only knows....we are so so predictable and our opponents know exactly what to expect! We were being given the run around last week by Rochdale and if it weren't for Trotman I'm sure we'd have lost that game. Their midfield run by Gary Jones had so much more movement than our lot who only started to compete when they went down to 10. Tactically I think we are a bloody shambles and we desperately need experience both on and off the pitch!!
  2. He's an out and out winger and just what we need.......If we're going to play with wingers then we have to cross the fu***** ball. I'm sick of Taylor and Morais showboating through games without any end product!!!
  3. Doesn't look like he's coming at all according to this article in the Hudds Examiner With Oldham Athletic the latest club rumoured to be interested in Simpson, Clark added: "There have been lots of inquiries for one or two individuals, but the modern-day footballer doesn't seem to want to go and play. "We've never had anything from Oldham, but lots of other clubs have inquired (about Simpson) and he has turned them down."
  4. As always, no bull:censored:, just a straight talking honest interview. He says they haven't always been correct and that they have made mistakes along the way but the club is in a far healthier state than when they arrived. Apart from the money given by Blitz the club has no outstanding creditors and is far better off than the majority in the division. Simon Blitz could force a land sale at BP to get his money back but won't and will not see the club suffer. The total money they have invested in the club is in the region of 16 million!! Anybody who listened to that and still has issues with Simon Corney or TTA must be very hard to please!
  5. From the Hudds board DATM... Robbie Simpson is off on loan to oldham, this is leaving us short up front... i know he doesnt play him but clark is leaving himself short of cover. work with an oldham fan, says its done, his uncle is on the board there. he also told me about nc 3 or 4 dayd before he went.
  6. We've had no injury update regarding Josh Parker.......anyone have any news?
  7. With Smith, Reid, Parker, Morais and Taylor we have more variation up front than last year. When I started watching Latics that would have been our forward line....Taylor Outside right, Morais Outside left, Reid Inside right, Parker inside left and Smith centre forward......them were the days!!!
  8. Had to laugh...from Plymouth Forum, Quote... Feeney is no good. couldnt hit a barn door. and for the rest need to stop this pointless passing and go for the shot. I dont recall feeney having a shot all game, so the barn door comment is interesting. or indeed in his Oldham career it seems..............yes, cus when you desparately need a striker you sign one who has never played league before and one who has scored 1 in 24 for his present club.. We'll be lucky to get anything from this match, but but but there's no reason why we can't do it. 1-0 Argyle, Warren Feeney to prove his doubters with a man of the match performance and goal. Argyle lacked any goalscoring threat throughout the match, and to be frank about it we could still be there playing now and still wouldn't have scored.Argyle were very weak up front with Feeney on his own. Feeney 6 - Gave his all but struggled to make an impact! All in all...Same player different club!
  9. All they have to do is keep the away fans in the stand for 5 mins at the end of the game....they used to do it all the time, anybody know why they don't do it anymore?
  10. Think you have to go outside the ground and back in from the chaddy so at guess I would say no, however if we are struggling to get sponsorship it could provide pay bar facilities for the chaddy stand........it would be better than standing empty!!
  11. Still only one goal so far from open play!
  12. Very funny that...I'm still laughing!! The point I'm making is that everything is done half heartedly.....a little poster on the turnstyle door or on the ticket office window would have been simple enough......everything is so bloody amateurish! Apparently the idea only came about in midweek, however, if you're trying to improve matchday revenue and corporate sponsoship by showcasing the facilities at least make the bloody effort in connecting with the fans! I'm sure, with a little bit of forward planning, the place could have been heaving....a handful of people in there at 2.30pm was bloody embarrasing!!
  13. Got to the ground at 1.30pm and had to wait until 1.50pm to get into the ground......none of the stewards knew anything about the sponsors lounge being open as a pay bar. Finally got in the lounge at 2.00pm and to find I was all alone...even by kick off time there was no more than a dozen. The marketing and organisation at the club is bloody abysmal....three draughts on offer but the cooler was empty...not a single bloody bottle available. I know we are in a recession but if we can't fill a small sponsors lounge for a local derby game something is seriously wrong with our commercial operation.
  14. I agree, we were pretty poor, I thought they kept possesion very well first half and with a cutting edge could have been ahead early doors. We didn't start to pass the ball until they lost Trotman and whilst 3 points was very welcome I felt the performance was not that good! I felt we were generally better against Sheff Utd but got nowt.......got to be happy with the points but nowhere near the required standard!!!
  15. Bang on HB..........from Hudds official site, Huddersfield Town can confirm that long serving central defender Nathan Clarke is set to join League 1 outfit Oldham Athletic on loan until January. The 27 year-old defender has not figured in any of Town's matchday squads at the start of the current season and is set to join Paul Dickov's Oldham side ahead of the weekend fixtures.
  16. I know Tarkowski is injured but it shows how light we are squad wise......We need defensive cover at CB as well as a striker and full back in before the window closes!!!
  17. What a ridiculous decision making this an all ticket game for Rochdale fans. RRE section holds 3,000 and I don't think they'll bring a thousand. Not allowing fans to turn up on the day, and tickets can only be bought until 4pm Friday. I think we'll be lucky to break 5000!!
  18. What's Mellor's natural position? Matty Carr is a C/B isn't he?
  19. Average age of the team is 22.....Got to be one of the youngest if not the youngest team ever to play for the club. Very brave decision as there's no experience at all apart from maybe Diamond and Taylor. A bad start and we could fall apart...a good start and we could murder them.....fingers crossed!!!
  20. 'it seems pretty obvious he's been messed about by players more than once'. You can't blame players for trying to get the best deal for themselves. It's all very well saying he wants players to buy into what we're trying to do at Latics rather than players chasing the dollar. If you're a striker, and in demand, of course you're going to try and get the best deal you can....it's simple human nature. What would you do in that situation.....take £1500 and buy into Dickov's vision or £2500 a week somewhere else and see what happens. The vast majority of clubs in our division want promotion so I really can't see why signing for Dickov is such a big deal. For us, a proven striker and dominant midfielder would almost certainly be the difference between a relegation scrap and a possible playoff place. If we stick around the bottom of the table for the rest of the season our crowds will be down to 3500/4000, if we are on the fringes of the promotion pack it may be 4500 and possibly more. That equates to about £8000 of extra money every other week...about £170,000 over the 21 games remaining. A speculative splash into the transfer market would easily pay for itself over a season hopefully with a little bit over. We've gone into the last few seasons with very poor attacking players and scoring and creating goals has been a massive problem. Crowds want to see goalmouth incidents and plenty of attacking football, but more importantly they want to see goals....it's a no brainer, we must become a bigger threat going forward otherwise, inevitably, crowds will reduce still further. I'm not advocating we spend silly money but if we can balance the extra outgoings with extra punters through the turnstyle surely it has to be worth a little speculation. Whilst I know we haven't got a pot to pi** in, we already have a much smaller squad than last year in Dickov's "quality before quantity" statement so there must be a few bob available for the right players. We need to show a little more ambition and show Latics fans that we are really giving it a go this season. I am certain that if you improve the product on the pitch it will be more than subsidised with the extra matchday revenue! One things certain, if we don't get the right players in soon we will end up doing what we've done for a few years now, desperately trying to sign the best of what's left!!
  21. That's the problem a week or two before deadline day players a hanging on for the best deal.....I can see it being manic on the day and just hope we don't end up with signings just for the sake of it!
  22. That's the problem a week or two before deadline day players are hanging on for the best deal.....I can see it being manic on the day and just hope we don't end up with signings just for the sake of it!
  23. 'It contradicts what he's said in the past a little bit about the smaller, tighter squad' Not really, to be fair even with 3 or 4 additions we will still be 4 or 5 players less than last season.
  24. 'Wingers who can cut in from the left and hit a shot with their right are a major threat' Yes, of course they are, but not when they do it all of the time....the main reason he does it is because he can't cross the bloody thing with his weaker left foot! What's the point of having wingers if they don't cross the ball. Rick Holden and George Mcvitie wern't blessed with Taylor's pace but they knew exactly the right time to whip a cross over to maximum effect. Taylor has undoubted skill on the ball but a lack of variation badly lets him down.
