  1. Maybe, but the impending result of any appeal must have been discussed during negotiations, surely. Anyway if the land was the subject of a charitable trust then what use was the land to the council? I reckon the council will be looking at ways of wriggling out of this offer to the club. All councils are bloody skint so just where is 5.7m coming from exactly. More to the point how the hell are Latics going to fund the project in this climate and who the hell would consider investing in today's economic meltdown!
  2. I can see the :censored: hitting the fan with this announcement. I fear the saga is going to drag on and on..................nothing is simple with OAFC and OMBC!!!!!!!!
  3. Absolutely unbelievable!!!! And reading the MEN article, the only reason OMBC offered the 5.7m was solely because of the threat of legal action by the club. "We want to keep the club in the borough at all costs"............what a load of :censored:e!!!! Surely you would have expected OMBC to have explored the appeal result put in place by the Lib Dems before offering the money to the club. Like somebody said earlier....you just couldn't make it up!!!!!
  4. This is better than a new signing Wonder why the customary acknowledgement didn't appear on the website.....We would like to place on record our thanks to Warren for his contribution to....er
  5. I reckon he'll be a Plymouth player this week. One things for sure if he stays here he'll be lucky to get a run out in the reserves....it's now in Latics best interests that he leaves!!
  6. He could still join Plymouth this week...... From P.A official site. HOPES FOR FEENEY, KANDOL Posted on: Wed 03 Aug 2011 ARGYLE's bid to bolster their striking options in time for Saturday's npower League 2 opener with Shrewsbury could see experienced international strikers Warren Feeney and Trésor Kandol both heading to Home Park today. Warren, 30, is hoping to reach a settlement with current club Oldham to allow him to return to the Westcountry.
  7. Search...Football rumours...club rumours page. There's all sorts of :censored:e like that!!!
  8. Just seen this on the football rumour site.......is this Mendi? Can anybody enlighten me as to what the hell it's supposed to mean? 02 Aug 2011 17:23:07 The former player of Real Madrid C Marc de Val Fernandez, after a month that has been training and playing very at ease with Oldham, because of some person Real Madrid and the chairman of Oldham who do things right, a player eager to play, what he does best, is very nervous and yet to find a team where to play with the start of league at the door ....
  9. Chris Taylor has been fantastic player for us for the last few seasons and he's also one of us and he loves the club from top to bottom, however, if he wants to improve and earn the big money he will have to move to a higher division. I will be sad to see him leave but if we can get a proven goalscorer and a quality midfielder/winger in it could be a blessing in disguise. Taylor has nearly always played in wide positions but he is not a true winger and I believe his best position could be just off the striker or behind a front two. I think we rely on him far too much and almost everything seems to have to go through him....I would like us to be a little more direct, mix it up a bit and be less predictable. To take advantage of big Matty Smith we need to get to the by-line and whip those crosses over as often as possible, something we have failed to do during the last few seasons. We got our best spell of success playing with two out and out wingers and there's no reason why we can't do it again if we're bold enough. Losing Taylor would appear to be a disaster for most fans but I honestly think if we get enough money it could be to our advantage... .....as long as we can get in the right replacements.
  10. Reading Simon's comments in the chron, Quote..........but the first thing is to rebuild the stand we knocked down three years ago. Another older stand needs knocking down, and I would hope all four stands will be rebuilt within seven to ten years.” We are replacing a stand that was only built 20 years ago and one that was originally included in the final 'Oldham Arena' development. This suggests to me that we are going to finish up with a 'Failsworth' type stadium at Boundary Park built stand by stand.
  11. Reading that, if accurate.....He will be a Plymouth player by weekend!!!
  12. For a club that is skint a 10 year plan sounds pretty good to me. We all want it built tomorrow but it doesn't work like that. If we get the main 'earner' up first then we have a chance to generate some much neede income. It may well be that we get added investment and it's all developed in 5. Rome wasn't built in a day....after all what's happened I'm just glad there's a plan at all!! Maybe Gazal and Blitz will come back into the fold....perhaps them jumping ship was a tactic designed to get the council to get it's finger out.......you never know!!!
  13. Did he actually play back to back games for us?......I can't remember if he did or not! I don't think he was actually given much of a chance here to be fair but Dickov would have seen him train every week and it was pretty obvious from an early stage that he wasn't going to be first choice. Looking back we shouldn't have signed him....we wanted a prolific scorer and still do but Feeney was never going to produce the goals and his career statistics confirm that! Plymouth's a long way from home and the fact that he's willing to uproot and move again suggests that he might put the extra effort in to win a contract. I bloody well hope so!!! If he signs for Plymouth I will be almost as excited as when we sign a new player....fingers crossed!!
  14. Actually if you care to read it through it's very informative!!
  15. Chill out......nobody's slagging anything off it's a forum and people have opinions just like you!!!
  16. I've always thought the same.....If the new lookers is built 30/40 metres back from the pitch it would give some extra space for a bigger stand on the current main stand site. A new Chaddy could then be built as required....the only problem would be the RRE as the new stand would encroach it's space. You could always close the small section until such a time it became viable to modify or rebuild.
  17. Let's not get carried away but if true it's great news, however a new South stand would only be the beginning as we are told the Chaddy end needs some serious saftey work and the main stand is beyond help. It's a distinct possibility that some time in the near future we could yet again end up with a three sided ground!!
  18. And your next comment was...Clint HIll and Fitz Hall are 150 times better than Gregan......Are you still at primary school by any chance?
  19. Been watching latics since 1960 and would be in my top ten centre backs!
  20. I really don't know how you can say that.......he was one of the best defenders ever to wear the blue shirt and we got him for nothing.... If it wasn't for Gregan we would have been playing 2nd div football last season, he kept us up on his own!!
  21. Christ.....he didn't have 2 stone to lose in the first place!!!!!
  22. Who's going to take our Free Kicks and Corners? That's got to be a piss take.....He took a decent enough free kick but his corners were bloody woeful!!!!!
