Pretty sure Morais played only a fraction of the season rather than every game.......I don't doubt Taylor's ability but he doesn't use it to his advantage, I think he's a bit thick really and if he had a football brain he would no doubt be a championship player by now. People on here see him as a local hero, a true fan playing for his boyhood club and so he can do no wrong....step back a little and see the whole picture. He stifiles our attacks, he slows them down, he does the same tricks time after time and our opponents in general know exactly how to deal with him. It's no use taking out three opposition players if you don't know what to do with the bloody ball afterwards to take advantage!! Having nobody to play on the left is not an excuse not to play him on his natural right side...we've been saying it for three years now and it's about time we brought in a decent left sided player! It's no bloody use having a big lad in the middle if you're cutting inside all the time is it!!! Chris Taylor is a decent player in this league but that's all, he's definitely not our best player!

100% correct.........Playing as a left winger he is totally ineffective and after being in this league for so long he's been well and truly sussed!!!

For all we know the lad might be desperate to sign for us.....it is more than likely his current club's demands are what's holding up the deal. Dickov has already said he wants players hungry for the shirt and not the money.

The only reason he hasn't been named could be because he's still in negotiations!

I'm not saying he's a bad player, technically he's very good.... What I am saying is, when he's in the team we only ever play one way. Everything seems to have to go through Taylor thus when he has a bad game so does the team. We've relied on him for so long now and I just think it's time for a change in approach. If we could get a decent fee for him allowing us to get 2 or 3 quality players in I genuinely believe it could benefit the team.

He wouldn't get dropped if he played :censored:e every week and now with all these kids it's even less likely. I honestly believe he is holding the team back. As you've said with him in the team we are totally one dimensional. I would honestly sell him to the highest bidder....a great servant but it's time to move on. I've just put my flak jacket but I don't care!!!!

Is there a winger or anyone on the books who can actually cross a ball ? ................ NO!!!! and I've been saying it for a year or two! We'd be better off playing 4-3-3.............Everybody keeps raving on about Chris Taylor....if he was Championship quality he'd be there now!!!

Just watched the highlights on LW.....Mvoto was totally at fault for both goals. Ball watching at best for the first goal where he never made any sort of attempt to get to the cross first and a lethargic couldn't be arsed attitude on the halfway line where he should have taken man and ball into touch. If that had been Diamond in those two incidents it would have still been nil nil!! I hope it's not a case of I'm not on loan now and I've got a contract......don't need to put as much effort in now!!

It doesn't really matter what formation we play, if the midfielders don't support the forwards and occasionally get in and around the penalty area we haven't a hope in hell of scoring goals. Smith and Reid were totally isolated up front yesterday and what worries me is that the tactics from the second half of last season don't seem to have changed one iota!! We failed to score more than 1 goal in 31 of our games last season and if we want to get the crowds back and challenge at the other end of the table we have to improve on that!!

Spanish Marc - Latics want Madrid to sign a form saying as he is under 24, that they won't ask us for compo - they may want up to 400k which we havent got and we aren't prepared to take a chance on them not asking us for that money. Don't think Scunthorpe will have it either........Why not sign him on a short term deal, if they want that kind of money we'll just get shut!!!! Surely we should have found out about all this weeks ago...I find it all very puzzling!

Smith will be OK but he's not there yet fitness wise and has alot of catching up to do...coming off the bench for 20mins might be the best way to use him at the moment. Reid is like a rabbit caught in the headlamps and tends to panic every time he gets the ball, the amount of times he was caught in possesion yesterday was criminal. I thought the back four were pretty decent yesterday apart from a mad 5 minute spell that cost us the match. They will get better with more games and I believe we have found a good keeper at last! Furman was another who caught the eye and although playing too deep he kept the ball well and consistently found a blue shirt. It's obvious that we need a goalscorer but that won't solve the problem on it's own, we need the supply line to improve because yesterday we created very little going forward. Morais should impove our attacking threat but he can't do it alone. Taylor looked OK in patches but for a winger you need to get out wide beat the full back and get those crosses in, something he consistently fails to do!! Three quality additions and we might surprise a few teams...otherwise we may struggle to stay much above the relegation places. It was difficuly to asess our performance yesterday because Sheffied Utd were a very compact and solid team and on that showing will be up amongst the promotion favourites next May, however, our lack of a cutting edge is still there for all to see. If we can somehow get playing further up the pitch and cause more of a threat to the opposition we could have a decent season, but we've been saying that for a while now and so far nothing has changed. We will have raked in a bit of cash from the away following yesterday but less than 4500 home fans on the first day of the season for a local Derby against one of the bigger teams in the division is not good. I was at the main stand fairly early yesterday (around 1.30pm) and my son and I had to wait 20 minutes for them just to open the turnstyle...the whole of the half time period was needed just queing for a pi**. This re-development of BP can't come quick enough as I think we have one of the worst fan friendly grounds in the country. Let's hope that this time it's going to happen because if for any reason it doesn't I think Corney will walk away and realistically who could blame him!

Just watched the question and answer session on LW and have to say I'm once again very impressed with Dickov, no bull:censored: just honest answers to some tricky questions. He says we will have the necessary squad by the end of the transfer window and we'll be stronger in all departments than we were last season. He is so confident in front of the media, never gets flustered and is always approachable...what a refreshing change from Dave Penney!! He is definitely the right man for the job and if we stick with him then together I'm convinced we will have a great chance of bringing championship football back to Boundary Park sooner rather than later!!
