  1. We've only played 3 home games and have had steady if not spectacular increases each time....It will take a while longer to get the floaters interested so I wouldn't form any hasty conclusions just yet. Saturday is a key game however and we must keep the extra's wanting more, with another good performance. If we can keep our form with 7 points from our next 3 games then I think we could have a near sell out against Leicester in a couple of weeks time. If we were to win that one too.........They'll be coming out of the woodwork!!!!!!!!!
  2. We've got to be looking at 7500+ for a local derby considering our start. The only negative could be that Huddersfield have had a poor start and may not bring many, by all accounts the majority seem to think the game is already lost!! I would be dissapointed if home fans totaled much less than 6000. We have a chance to impress a few more floaters but you know what usually happens when we are in this position!!!
  3. Remember, the main reason for developing the ground was to make the club self sufficient. We are still losing thousands each and every week and we have to have a facility that will earn money for the club every day of the week and not just on alternate Saturdays!! The whole thing has to happen sooner rather than later, current attendances and league positions are irrelevant, the simple truth is that until we can develop the ground, and improve corporate hospitality ie. Restaurants, Conferencing etc. then TTA won't be able to take the club forward! TTA cannot keep subsidising the club for ever and we have to become self funding as soon as possible.
  4. It was just unfortunate that he got injured in pre season because, with his versatility, he was probably penciled in for a number of positions. The way it's worked out everybody's doing the business so he'll have to be patient, no doubt there will be injuries, and his chance will come, but when it does he's going to have to play very well to stay in this team. I hope he doesn't play this season as it will mean we are winning most of our games. I think he was bought for the future more than anything and will be able to step up to the championship next season if required!!
  5. I was surprised when he didn't overrule the linesman because he'd given them just about everything up until that point!!!
  6. Think one or two on here need to get real.....Yes, we have had a good start and are top, but it's who's top in May that counts. You can critisise Carlisle all you want but they have scored plenty of goals and also had a good start, they will certainly be no mugs and a victory at Bristol Rovers is a pretty decent result. How comments can be made about M K Dons being overated is a mystery as they're in the top six and we've not even seen them play yet!!! The season's a marathon not a sprint and we shouldn't get carried away as we could fall away from the top just as easy as we got there with a couple of bad results!
  7. Ruebens sliding tackle on Bas Savage towards the end of the first half where took the ball and the man off the pitch. To be fair to Savage he never batted an eyelid dusted himself down and got on with it. Can you imagine if Taylor was on the receiving end of a similar tackle?
  8. Definitely not getting carried away...yesterday was a great result but we weren't at our best. We had a fair few chances in the second half that we failed to put away but got away with it. Davies for me is not the threat he was early last season and has to learn to use his pace to better effect. Allesandra is a fine prospect but has a habit of playing the wrong ball at critical times and did so yesterday on a few occasions when we could have scored. Liked the look of O'Grady when he came on and he livened it up a bit...if Hughes had played yesterday it would have been all over a lot earlier. I'm trying not to sound too critical but we have to be more clinical and score when we get on top as we may not get away with it at places like Leicester and Carlisle. The defence especially Gregan were awesome yesterday and last season we would probably have drawn or even lost that game. There's along way to go but we have made a brilliant start...if we can keep the key players fit then we have a chance to finally go all the way.....KEEP THE FAITH!!!!!!!
  9. In July they were probably just looking after the pitch for pre-season...no point cutting the pitch up for a meaningless friendly!
  10. Nothing on both official sites to suggest a possible postponement so unless there's a deluge I reckon it'll be on! However they might be waiting for all our tickets to go before announcing the possibility. They would get a much lower gate for a rearranged night game...unless of course we are still top!!!!
  11. If I was a betting man I'd back Taylor and Gregan to start....it may also be a bit of gamesmanship by Shez!!!
  12. Your'e avin a laff aren't you....O'Grady, Lee, Smalley, Davies can all cover those positions and injuries are just part and parcel of the game. This is when players have a chance to stake a claim for a regular place and why we have improved the squad. They should be chomping at the bit. Losing players of the quality of Hughes and Taylor is not ideal but if the players coming in are at the top of their game then we will be more than good enough to see off Tranmere. Keep the flamin faith!!!!!!
  13. Stand corrected..you are spot on it's on the official site. Emergency loans only now and for a maximum of 3 months. It's a shame cos I reckon Phillips would have been a brilliant addition to the squad. You never know now that he's on our wish list he might provide that little spark from January onwards!
  14. No I think the loan window is closed for a week and then reopens for a while longer.
  15. Glad we've not done any panic buying as there was no need. We have a good squad and a first eleven to match anything in this league. I we can get Kalala and Thompson out on long term loans and maybe Wolfenden then it will give us scope to take Phillips for a season. Looks like Richie Byrne will probably sign a contract as he's unattached and that gives us cover for Lomax and central defence. I reckon it's looking real rosy and this team can get better and better...Bring on Tranmoore!!!!!
  16. There's no way they'll give us anything like that figure and he may yet stay at City for the whole of his career. I'd sit on it for now as in the future he may end up at Arsenal who I think is the team he supports.
  17. Train from Rockferry to Chester at 17.27 and every half hour after the game is about £4...station is about 15mins walk from the ground.
  18. Come on be realistic we will have hiccups along the way and no matter how good you think we are we ain't goin to win every game.!! The fact is we have been 2 goals behind in a couple of games and come back to claim 4 points.... we wouldn't have done that last season so you've got to be happy with that, if we win at Tranmere next week it will have been a fantastic start to the season and this team will get better......my cup is definitely half full!!!!!!
  19. Wasn't a shaven headed guy by any chance?
  20. I have always lived close to the ground and have supported Oldham all my life and took my son from being 4 years old. Now we live in Dukinfield and although still fairly close if you want a drink then it's 2 buses to the ground and 2 buses back. I work shifts so I probably attend about half of the home games with my son and as many away games as we can. Problem is when I'm working my son doesn't go as all his mates are Man U or City and he can't be arsed going on his own. We've been on the train to Hudds, Tranmere, Wolves, etc...win or lose have a booze and it's always a great day out. He is out of work at the moment but under normal circumstances, I am certain if he had a companion to go with regularly he would buy a season ticket and go home and away. With so many closet Blues and reds I'm sure this is a common problem as to why many fans don't attend. Is there a supporters branch in the Ashton area as I am sure there are other supporters in surrounding boroughs in a similar situation.
  21. I never rated that guy, to me he never looked comfortable with the ball. The fact that he's never settled anywhere he's been tells you a story!
  22. Phillips is on duty with Jamaica next week so I can't see it being him at the moment. I think loan deals are allowed for another month after the deadline so we could still sign him later. I think it will depend on Thompson and Kalala getting fixed up by Monday and one or two fringe players eg. Wolfenden going out on loan. Although Lomax has been pretty good I think the player coming in will be a left back...We shall see!
  23. Not sure , but I thought he was from Radcliffe?
