  1. I think the outcome of our season could bel be determined by our performances over the the next three fixtures. We went to Stockport full of confidence and fell apart in the second half. We have to make sure that was a one off and can't afford any repeats. The top of the division is going to be really tight this year. Any one of 7 or 8 teams will fancy their chances and we have to stay within striking distance and keep picking up points even when not at our best. We've had a great start to the campaign but can't afford many slip-ups. Remember Millwall and Scunthorpe were a few points adrift of ourselves not so long ago and as well as we have played lately they have both managed to go above us. With Leicester and Leeds also both expected to be there or thereabouts I reckon we should be looking for 7 points from our next three games and 6 as a minimum. Anybody agree!!
  2. The problem with Davies is that he's just not a team man...he plays like he's on his own out on the field. I've lost count the amount of times he's wasted great opportunities and he just does not compliment any sort of strike partner! When he first came in to the side everybody, including me, thought he was going to be an awesome player for us but it just hasn't happened. Yes he scored a few goals for us last season but he's been found out this year, well and truly! He's nowhere near the threat he was last season and I just can't see him improving...it's a shame and I hope he proves me wrong but I reckon if we could get a small fee for him, and Ormerod is a success, then he might well be allowed to move on in January.
  3. At 1.00pm today there were still 2000 left for the Chaddy End pay at the turnstile.
  4. Thing is Either Davies or O'Grady will probably keep the bench warm if Ormerod does the bizz...shipping one of them out will give both of them more time on the field. It's a good move all round and if O'Grady comes back with a few goals under his belt it will have benefited both clubs.
  5. Don't think canceling a contract can make any difference, the rule is that if a player is contracted to a club when the window closes he can't sign a contract with another club until the window opens in January, so It would have to be a loan initially. Wolfy would be my guess but Davies and O'Grady are so similar in style it could also be either one of them too. Has Davies spat his dummy out? If not it's gotta be Wolfy!!!
  6. You can't rely on your midfielders to score week in week out and I think a successful twin strike force is essential if you are to get out of this league. Heskey may have value for England but how many goals have been set up by Allesandra, Davies, and O'Grady's hold up play? Shez still hasn't found the right pairing and I think it is the main reason for the Ormerod deal. The only other reason could be the short term fitness of Hughes.
  7. Something is going on .... very simple really, other than Hughes our scoring record from the forwards is abysmal. Davies, Allesandra, and O'Grady are not putting the ball in the net. Apart from the one goal from Allesandra, we've not had any goals from our strikers in 10 league games!!! Hughes whilst not being 100% fit has scored 6, but the majority of the others have come from our wide players Liddell 5 and Taylor with 6. It might well be a mighty kick up the backside for Davies who may still start the match but if Ormerod partners Hughes can any of them really complain?
  8. Just had a look at our reserve line-up up for tonight's match against ManU. TTA have done a fantastic job since rescuing our club...tonights line up would even give Hereford's 1st team a run for their money. If we can get into the Championship at the end of the season I have no doubt that TTA will give us the resources to stay there. I reckon we might break 9000 against Leicester and our task is to convince the majority of them to come back. Saturday's game is pivotal to our chances this term and if we can win and put in a good performance I think the stay aways will finally start to come back.
  9. I think the biggest problem with Davies is fitness, he's not played much football in the last month or so and it shows. Confidence plays a big part and if he could get a goal or two I think you'll see him chasing balls all over the park!!!
  10. I can't believe this move...only a month ago Corney was as good as saying if crowds don't improve we may have to sell a player to balance the books. Crowds haven't gone up by any substantial amount and we go and sign Ormerod. Surely a player or two will be on their way now! I'm absolutely over the moon with this signing and at last we have a true front 2 but with TTA it seems to be they say one thing and do another!!! Let's fill the place on Saturday and give Leicester a proper thumping.....Come on Oldham!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I think TTA would snatch their hands off, but the way I see it the problem is without him we would not gain promotion. Without him in the side we are just not potent enough. We could also spend half the fee on a replacement and he probably wouldn't be as good...players like Lee Hughes are extremely hard to find!! TTA would have to decide...Do we want promotion and everything that goes with it?... or .... Do we balance the books?
  12. Can we take him on a season long loan or are we limited to 3 months. If we are still up there, and have to send him back at Christmas, it would be a big blow
  13. Didn't go today due to work but listened to the commentary on Latics World. Davies is still goalless and didn't seem to play that well according to the commentary. Would like an opinion of someone who went to the game.
  14. You never know, we could have a decent crowd. Apart from the England game they just might be trying it out to see how it goes.

  16. Reckon you're right, and it will be his last season here. It's a shame really as he's a top bloke, but it's no good if he's only fit for half the games. Problem is we now need an extra defender and I think Byrne would have been ideal but with Jones possibly here until Christmas and Gregan back next week he'll be loathe to sign a longer deal to sit on the bench.
  17. Couldn't have been more frustrating than Davies!!!!
  18. Would be nice to have a big strong target man, something that we have needed since we lost Porter....but how can the board sanction the signing of yet another striker. I can't believe we can't perm two, from Hughes, Allesandra, O'Grady, Davies, and Wolfenden. The problem is we have to much in potential and not enough in proven strikers!! If we do get a striker in then Davies and O'Grady will have to go out on loan and play some competitive games.
  19. For gods sake your complicating things, regardless of the amount of matches played, forget the bad pitches etc.etc.,................The point I made was..."Players playing in the premiership are 'generally' fitter, than those playing at our level.
  20. There will be exceptions, that's why I omitted the likes of Berbatov, and I said 'Generally speaking'... I don't think it has to do with the pitch or squad rotation etc.etc. The reason that Gregan can play at our level is because the game isn't as quick so fitness becomes less of a factor.
  21. I think as you move up the leagues players are naturally fitter the higher you go...you look at the likes of Man U...with the exception of Berbatov!!!! they pass and move for 90minutes, Evra, Park, Tevez, Rooney...they never stop running for 90minutes. Look at the premiership games shown week in week out...unlike 25years ago the players are now super fit athletes!! You certainly don't see that in our team so I would suggest that generally speaking, the higher the league the fitter the player.
  22. According to a club SMS Stam will have a scan today to discover the extent of his latest injury. My guess is that he'll be out for quite a while. He's looked a brilliant player here at times but hasn't played well for the last couple of seasons probably due to a never ending succession of injuries. Perhaps he should been called Stefan Scan!!!!!! Regardless of the results of the scan I think it's time to cut ties and release him at the end of the season. There's no doubting Stam's ability when fully fit but I doubt he's been 100% for a while now...certainly not this season!! We need a solid pairing at centre half and since Trotman left we've struggled for consistency in this department. Gregan's value to the side is obvious and to maintain our promotion push then we have to keep him on the field as often as possible, however, if promoted, could he do it in the championship?... where players are fitter and quicker........would we be able to keep him fit?........probably not. Hazell and maybe Byrne could do a job next season but after that we're a bit thin on the ground. No time for sentiment here. We need to start planning now, for next season..whether it be in this division or at Championship level. Anybody agree????
