  1. It will all depend on results over the next 3 weeks....if we have a good Christmas period then I think we could well sell them all...We took over 3000 to Wolves who are in the championship so for a local premiership side like Everton it's a possibility.
  2. I'ts very difficult to name the best 'ever' player, but you've listed most of the contenders....In my era..on appearances it would have to be Ian Wood, goal scoring it would have to be Palmer or Ritchie, on pure skill and entertainment it would have to be Stainrod. For someone to have the title of best ever player he would really need to have played a minimum of 2/300 games. Paul Warhurst in the pinch me seasons under Big Joe was simply awesome, he only played for a season or so but I've never seen a more natural player in a blue shirt, he just seemed to glide across the pitch. Alan Groves is another, probably the most entertaing winger we've ever had, and when on song was a defenders worst nightmare! Without Neil Redfearn's influence we'd never have been promoted to the first division...I don't think I ever saw him miss a penalty! However I'd have to plump for Ritchie over Palmer (just), because of his goal scoring in the season we were promoted to the First / Premiership and because it was also the most succesful period in our history.
  3. Don't forget it's not the third round where we used to start it's the first, plus I think the cup has lost a bit of it's magic over the last few years.
  4. He took his shirt off at Burnley earlier in the season and there wasn't one ounce of fat on him!! Check out his player profile on the O.S.
  5. Ricketts is 11st 12lb so that puts you at around 7 stone. Are you feeling OK!!!!!!
  6. I wouldn't call Stam and Trotman a bad pairing so far, ...how about you?
  7. Dumb you say...well how come he played 3/4 of his career in midfield. A dumb reaction from you I'd say!!!
  8. Like I keep saying we have a ready made hard man....Get GREGAN into midfield, he'll hold on to the ball and pass it and he'll definitely get stuck in!!!
  9. Barn door & Banjo spring to mind....he has pace but couldn't score in a brothel. I'd like Shez to try for somebody like Phil Jevons who can't get in the side at Bristol City.
  10. " This guy could have got us up on his own " I really don't know where you get those sort of comments from as for me he was very ordinary and his heart was never really at the club!!
  11. That's all well and good but who's going to take these so called failures. Like I've said before I think we're stuck with what we've got this season. The only players we can change are the loan players, but who are we going to get that are better than Hazell, Kilkenny, and Bertrand!!!
  12. My heart says nine but my head says Nil. After watching our away performance at Huddersfield we need to improve 100% to get anything at Forest. Leyton Orient is anyone's guess as I think theyr'e a bit like ourselves as you never know which team is going to turn up! I so badly want to beat Tranmere at their place and over the last 2 or 3 seasons weve gone their with a good side only to be beaten every time. We'll probably go and win next week when we are up against it!! I just hope we can spring a surprise or two or at least play well, but one things for sure, if we lose all three, I believe Sheridan's job will be hanging by a thread.
  13. Ricketts is a good player, we know that, but, for some reason his type of game is wasted as his team mates don't seem switched in to his way of playing. Surely they must have a game plan that they work on in training yet looking at the product on a Saturday you'd hardly think so. The football so far this season has been dire...almost a carbon copy of ' The Ronnie Era ' and it's not good to watch. We all want Shez to be a legend as a boss as well as a player but we also know that good players don't often make good managers. Watching him on Latics World after the game today I saw one very frustrated individual that seems to be running out of excuses. He keeps refering to the players as being in their own little worlds, and that they're not listening to him. He says that that if they don't listen to him in the future he will leave them out of the team. If the players aren't listening to him does it mean that they're not grasping what he says, or are they ignoring him, if it's the latter then he has lost the dressing room and we really have no chance of progressing in this league. We haven't put in a performance of note for months now and I just can't see that changing in the near future. We all have ideas on team selection but what has been blatantly obvious to everybody except Sheridan is that Chris Taylor needs a break. Putting him on the right won't make any difference to his form, he's a young lad and just needs to be taken out of the spotlight. He's under so much pressure to go on a mazy run every time he gets the ball, and the lad is quite clearly out of form and low in confidence. Why is he still playing week after week? Hughes will be back soon, maybe even next week, as we need him desperately. When that happens in my opinion the team has to be changed to accomodate him. My team would then be...... Beresford / Eardley, Gregan, Stam, Bertrand / Davies, Kalala, Kilkenny, Smalley / Ricketts, Hughes. We all have opinions and the place to voice them is on these message boards and not at the ground, where hurling abuse at players probably makes you feel better, but doesn't help the overall situation one bit. TTA aren't stupid and will know if there is unease in the dressing room and will act accordingly, however if it is true and the players aren't listening to Shez then I think he will choose to walk away himself sooner rather than later.
  14. "We need pace all over the pitch"..........We were saying the very same all last season were we not!! We still have only one player with genuine pace when we were crying out for it all over the place! Shezza said he learned a lot from last season and that he knew what he wanted for this season. He talked about players being quiet on the pitch and this season the same applies. Only time will tell but I think he's made mistakes with some of the players he has signed this season. I think Thompson was signed on the strength of a decent loan spell at Tranmere but was he watched regularly before we bought him. Did shezza really want Hughes, he may yet come good, however, maybe it wasn't his decision. Ricketts on a 3 year deal was another gamble that so far hasn't paid dividends. I can't understand why we didn't keep the likes of Warne for one more season and why we had to spend our total budget before the start of the season is another puzzler. Shezza has said that he's not scared to drop his stars if they aren't performing but apart from Thompson where he didn't have much choice he's shown amazing loyalty constantly playing people who are obviously struggling. We are going to have to move players on to get some new faces in but who are the saleable assets and who will be available within our budget. I think we need to go with what we've got for the remainder of the season and hope we can get them gelled as a team. We must have changed more players in the last couple of years than ever before and it just hasn't worked out. It's been said before that on paper we have as good a side as anybody in this division, Shezza has to turn theory in to reality and I reckon he's got the rest of this season before TTA take action. They've backed all their managers to date since buying the club but there's no way that they'll want wholesale changes again at the end of this season. Changing the playing staff at the end of every season just doesn't work!!!
  15. I don't agree as we sell too many promising players and when we do we usually get next to nothing for them. The thing that these two want more than anything else is a break, they're both young lads and have played under the spotlight for over a season now and it's begining to take its toll. I'd put Lomax at right back for a spell and see what he can do, if he makes the grade then fine as it's about time we found out. As for Taylor, after his rest, he's got to be given a try wide on the right which is supposedly his natural position and then, as many people have posted recently, push Bertrand on to the left flank and try and get Gidding for another couple of months to slot in at left back where he has looked pretty useful. Liddle needs to come off the bench like he did against Swansea where he changed the game in the last quarter and I think he should share the right wing job with Taylor who I also think lacks a bit of fitness and tends to play well only in patches. Trotman has to be given his chance in place of Thompson who for me has been very dissapointing and needs a spell in the reserves to try and get a bit of confidence back as every time he gets the ball or has to make a challenge he looks frightened to death ( ala Forbes ) If we are going to play two central midfielders then it has to be Kilkenny when fit with Kalala or Allott and McDonald available from the bench. It will be interesting what formation Shezza plays when the three strikers are fit as none of them have come to keep the bench warm, and he may adopt a 4 3 3 or move Davies wide right and continue 4 4 2. Yes, we've had a poor start yet again but when everybody's fit we have a good squad of players who are able to play in a variety of formations. We've had some daunting early fixtures against Swansea who I think will possibly be in one of the automatic positions, away at Carlisle where we should have got at least a point, and two games against promoted teams (who always seem to do well early on in the season), with settled sides on good winning runs. With our settled best eleven I still think we are good enough to mount a serious promotion challenge and come the Christmas fixtures we'll up there in the chasing pack. KTF.
  16. Ricketts has imroved 100% since he came and there's a lot more to come from him when he get's fully match fit. Get off his back....Ricketts, Davies and Hughes will be awesome in a month or so. It could be the best forward line at the club since Palmer, Ritchie and Marshall.
  17. The goal I refer to is shown in pictures by snipe tripe in an earlier post. An absolute gem of a goal, if only it was available on film!!!
  18. Gregan....OVERATED!!!! Where the hell do you get that comment from, without his presence yesterday we'd have lost by a greater margin. For me he is the first defender on the team sheet.. no question. Were you watching the same game!!!!!
  19. Awesome footballer and possibly the most naturally talented player ever to grace boundary park during my time. When this guy was on blob he was worth the admission money on his own. I can't remember who our opponents were but one goal he scored sticks in my mind. We were playing toward the then open end (Rocky Rd) and the ball was played to him along the floor. He was on the half way line on the Ford Stand wing with a defender right up his **** somehow he received the ball and flicked it up over his and the defenders head and turned in one movement and set off for goal. He got to the edge of the area and camly slotted it under the keepers body. It doesn't sound that special but believe me it was pure skill. Does anybody remember it!!! He would definitely get in my all stars latics team just for entertainment alone!!!
  20. He doesn't want to play a friendly and get hurt. So It'll be OK to play and get injured once he has a contract will it? What a ridiculous situation. Really, what's all that about!!

    Porter Demands

Rubbish..... of course Porter gets a say, its his decision at the end of the day! The agent only offers advice, ok he may try and swing it in his favour financially but the final decision is Porters. I think with Motherwell not having to pay a fee it has enabled them to offer a big signing on fee and Porters seen the £££ flashing. With his injury record and the fact we have brought in a couple of decent forwards he perhaps thinks that he wont be an automatic choice here next season. I think he may have doubts about his long term fitness and he's taking the money now and playing safe. I'm also sure that by mid September we'll have forgotten all about Chris Porter!!!!
  22. Warnies been amazing this season. If only the other outfield players had his enthusiasm and workrate then we'd already be promoted. However all good things come to an end and he would perhaps be less effective next season in the CHAMIONSHIP!!!! Joking apart I think we need to change it for next season as we're not going to make a challenge with the current squad. We definitely need a quality striker, two if Porter leaves, and another midfielder to play with Wellens. At the back we've got a mix of youth and experience but you need pace in this division and with Gregan, Charlton, and Haining we are definitely lacking in that department. I would stick with Gregan and make him captain playing alongside Stam. Perhaps the time has come to let Haining go as I think he has gone a bit stale. Shezza will know who he wants wether we are promoted or not and I have total faith in his ability as a manager. If Warne does go then we should thank him for his efforts and move on. He has been a credit to his profession and deserves to be named 'Player of the year' by a country mile' What a tremendous example he has been to all the youngsters at this club. "Thanks Warnie" your the one signing that Ronnie Moore got right!!!!!
