  1. Maybe “only one” game would seem bonkers to sack him, but how many matches would you give him, just to avoid people saying you are bonkers. The thing is that it isn’t only one game. We have watched a season of this management now. We have watched the management team in place have a full off season and a fair amount of financial backing. We have just all had the new season optimism knocked out of us. No apparent improvement made. For me, another 2 poor performances and I will be ready to get behind the “DU out”. I don’t fancy another season like last year.
  2. And bc players on their way up with dreams of playing in higher divisions try harder to improve then those who are stepping down to a division where players “aren’t as good as me”. Surely we have learned that this year.
  3. Some of us are giving the present board the benefit of the doubt, because it’s the first time for over 15 yrs that we have had a board who are trying to improve things and turn us back into a proper football club. Paying bills for instance. I think I heard that the medical department are even having the bill for the strapping for players ankles paid.
  4. If you check those highlights again the only cross was from Rooney!
  5. Interestingly the only Stobbs cross shown was the corner, a set piece. The second half lowlights show plenty of evidence of Stobbs running about on the edge of the chasing shadows including before one of the goals. These highlights don’t help to prove Stobbs is worth a place in our squad.
  6. DU will be talking about the GPS results ie How many meters Nuttall has run. BP you are probably noticing if Nuttall is getting close enough to the defender to actually press him and influence what he does with the ball. Two very different things, so don’t give up BP.
  7. Sorry, are you aware of someone else that IS responsible for that decision, or are you suggesting like Kowenicki, that it was inevitable.
  8. Or maybe playing nearly 90 minutes first match back when not match fit after a prolonged spell recovering from injury. Then another 2 matches in 11 days was to much for an older player. DU is used to young players who heal quicker and maybe this is another mismanagement. Experienced managers and medical teams usually give 20 to 30 mins first game, then maybe start and do 60 or 70 mins as a minimum before a full 90 mins.
  9. It is strange that someone who clearly loves to post and is presumably not a new Oldham fan, didn’t join this forum and post during all the massive problems of the AL era, but does now! It does make more sense that you were previously posting under another pseudonym. Why would you swap? Well most likely because you were getting a lot of stick PeteG.
  10. It would surely already be easy for Mr Rothwell to have a talk with Big Joe along the lines of, “I really have been patient and given DU the chance to turn things round. I think you’ll agree it’s time to make changes.” Surely that would just be agreed.
  11. Make an official complaint in writing. Gross misconduct in any companies books, using foul and abusive language in public to a customer. Maybe, just maybe the owners need this excuse.
  12. Unless you are prepared to treat player like AL used to. Bully them till they ask to leave, was his way. There are some on here who don’t understand contracts. When you sign the contract you agree to pay the player for 1 or 2 yrs. If you want them to leave before the end of a contract, you have to pay up the value of the contract or a negotiated settlement figure.
  13. Surely that’s the job of the manager. To get players in the office, point out that his need is for players with the pride to show us how good they are. To have the heart to work harder when we aren’t doing well, and who want the opportunity to play regularly in the first team and resurrect their careers which are rapidly disappearing down the toilet. The rest should be sent to go get a physical job that won’t tax their brains to much.
  14. Don’t forget Pete, the club had to take out that silly loan from the EFL which screwed up last season because AL wouldn’t further invest and the club had to fill in the shortfall.
  15. So Pete, are you arguing that with the small home gates the club was showing prior to Shez, and without any finance from AL that the books were being balanced? I would suggests THAT is bollox. Lots of clubs are loss making, but the owners will make up the difference. The club were hence within a short time of going under. One more decision from AL to refuse the pay up.
  16. You are forgetting furlough. I remember talking to the CEO at the time and being told the club finances were better after the Covid spell then they had been before, because of furloughing.
  17. Hence the 1 month loan players in an attempt to be able to drop the players who will not put the effort in for DU. Hopefully soon we will have enough new contracted players, plus loan players, plus “players who care” from the old squad to mount a decent performance. You could argue that DU knows they won’t play for him hence the 7 at the back hoping we will at least get a 0:0 draw. When he has the right players, we know he wants to play 4,3,3. That day can’t come soon enough for me.
  18. Maybe Because those players cost more then we can afford?
  19. One thing Shahed mentioned was the way he called for money to be spent to arrange activities and entertainment for fans on match days. He was just ignored he said. I know the positive effect of a welcome from the club to fans on match day has been po pooed as having no effect on fan numbers by a certain person on here, but I suspect a lot would appreciate it. As I’ve mentioned before, a winning team brings a bigger crowd, a great experience keeps some of those coming back.
  20. Possibly half way through the season when bill stop being paid? It would sound like Shahed recommended the EFL loan so that the football club, could continue to pay the bills last year. No such option is available this year.
  21. Having met Shahed several times, we heard him really trying to be guarded and careful. The real Shahed appeared a few times, the comments about the different valuations. However, despite being careful there were some very interesting comments that debunked the story that AL has fed us. Didn’t we get told before that AL was having to find £200,000 every month? While that may be true during the first few months funding certain players at over £10,000pw, it certainly hasn’t been the case for the past 2 and a half years according to Shahed. He said AL was great at coming up with £50,000 at short notice, but Shahed also said he stopped contacting him much, presumably because he didn’t get the money he needed. Shahed seems to have recommended the EFL loan, so that wages would get paid. I read that between the lines, things have been worse then Shahed has admitted.
  22. Shahed mentioned that procedures weren’t followed. He accepted Corney had the right to satisfy the Blitz debt by assigning ownership, just that he should have got prior approval from the Council. Surely there will be no legal case to reverse the agreement unless the council support the football clubs action?
  23. You could look no further then, one side come over at interview willing to answer questions and declaring themselves as fans wanting to help save the club, and the other won’t answer any questions and hates fans if they ask questions and has helped to destroy the football club we all love! Maybe? Or are your opinions firmly fixed.
