  1. I want to change my mind, I voted out but thinking about it I'm not sure pd leaving is the best option, for a start we would have to pay compensation, then there's SC, if pd was to go then maybe SC will decide that enough its enough, and at this crucial stage with the new stand, new board members, I think we would be fooked. I hope that a tactical change, wether accidental or enforced, Sparks our team into some form and we recover from this early season mess, maybe as a last resort pd plays Smith and a n other upfront and we hammer some team, playing some cracking football in the process.
  2. second bit There was a lukewarm start to the game in which Jean-Yves M’voto headed straight at Day while at the opposite end Marcus Haber flashed a header narrowly wide. The decisive moment in the match came in the 33rd minute when James Tarkowski’s header back to Alex Cisak fell short of the keeper who brought down Haber just inside the box and Akins scored from the spot. Cristiano Montano had an angled shot diverted by Day into the side netting while Simpson headed at the keeper as Latics looked for a leveller. It was a case of Latics looking for a new impetus as striker Matt Smith replaced midfield man Winchester at the break as Dickov reverted to 4-4-2. Stevenage, though, created the better chances early in the second period as left-back Darius Charles and Akins both shot narrowly wide when they could easily have doubled their side’s advantage. Montano had a decent effort for Latics, but it cleared the crossbar by a couple of feet. Connor Brown and Connor Hughes took over from Tarkowski and Montano as Dickov had made all three of his permitted changes by just after the hour mark. Freeman had a great long-range shot, but Cisak pulled off a terrific save to his left to prevent Stevenage scoring a second. Smith made a nuisance of himself and was unlucky not to connect better with a Dean Furman free kick as his glanced header failed to trouble Day. Furman also had a great chance to equalise with nine minutes left but his goalbound drive was deflected just wide of the upright. Stevenage held the ball well in the latter stages to take the sting out of the game and they could conceivably have scored a second late on when substitute Greg Tansey’s chip went over the crossbar as opposed to under it. Latics (4-5-1): Cisak; Byrne, Tarkowski (Brown 55), M’voto, Grounds; Croft, Winchester (Smith 46), Furman, M’Changama, Montano (Hughes 63); Simpson. Subs (not used): Bouzanis, Taylor, Millar, Mellor. Stevenage (4-2-3-1): Day; Gray, Ashton, Roberts, Charles; Grant, Dunne; Akins, Freeman (Tansey 73), Morais (Rogers 79); Haber. Subs (not used): Arnold, Ball, Thalassitis, N’Gala, Shroot. The goal: Akins (33 pen). Bookings: Furman (76), Byrne (84) for Latics. Grant (19), Dunne (53), Akins (90+1) for Stevenage. Referee: Mr M Naylor Attendance: 3,142 (111 visitors).
  3. for anyone who cannot get access to OS, sry i tried to load the second page but my screen goes blank. We will put it right says manager Latics’ disappointing start to the season continued as they lost 1-0 at home to Stevenage in npower League One. Paul Dickov admitted his side must improve having collected only one point from its first three matches after a Lucas Akins penalty proved their undoing. Latics’ manager said: “We need to start picking up points, and picking them up soon. I know that and am not stupid to think otherwise. “I know the fans won’t be happy and will be frustrated. We will roll up our sleeves and go again. “Yes we are three games in and haven’t as many points as we would like, but we will put it right.” Dickov thought his side had a really good go at Stevenage in the second half and deserved some reward for their endeavours. He admitted, though, when you are down on your luck the breaks invariably don’t go your way. “I thought we had two stone well penalties for fouls on Matt Smith and Robbie Simpson,” he said. Latics’ manager thought his players were “nervy” at the start adding he wants them to relax and play good football. He continued: “We were really tentative in possession as though the players didn’t want to make any individual mistakes. “It looked as though they wanted to give the ball to somebody else very quickly which is what we don’t want.” Dickov had one enforced change as on-loan striker Jordan Slew was ruled out through a back problem. Carl Winchester was drafted into midfield as Latics went with a 4-5-1 formation with the idea that midfield men broke forward to support lone front man Robbie Simpson. Stevenage had three former Latics’ players in their side – Filipe Morais, Chris Day and Anthony Grant.
  4. I asked someone a genuine question, nothing football related, and you feel the need to jump in and start flinging insults that wasn't necessary.
  5. Would it really matter who he plays? Looking at the list you provided we have had some decent players, yet, for whatever reason no matter what team he puts out, we are crap.
  6. Wonder what the rose tinted brigade are thinking now? " give it 10 games" does anyone really believe pd can not only improve results, but improve the quality of football? change needed now, before its too late, at this rate we could already be down by Christmas.
  7. So, we're losing and by the sounds of it, playing crap. What has pd changed at ht? Btw rueben Reid has scored the second for Yeovil after kmb got the first.
  8. I swear this is true, in an exam, my eldest was asked to name 2 of the worlds biggest superpowers, my daughter put Spiderman and Batman.
  9. +1, get ball, give it to winger, run like the clappers down the touchline and cross the ball at the earliest opportunity.
  10. priceless? no, i have no idea who can replace him, but things are not getting any better and since the turn of the year things are getting worse, i just think a change now could be better than waiting until we are 10 points off safety. the consensus was that we all thought we had a good first eleven, wes apart, so far our top eleven look no better than last year, add to the fact that were gonna get some more injuries and suspensions then things are gonna get even worse. The players we have we should be better than this, after 2 seasons we should have at least a style of play, be it slick passing or long ball or whatever, ATM we have nothing.
  11. no, not given up, but this will be his third season, and ( god forbid ) we go down this year then his 4th season will be in division 4,it would be highly unlikely but lets say we walk that league and get promoted then year 5 will have us in the same position we are now. that isn`t progress. i am not asking for us to destroy this division and run away with the title, all i wanna see is is a small step in the right direction, a style of play that is good to watch, win or lose as long as the team shows a little bit of pride, atm there is nothing. people say pd just sits down with his arms folded, isn`t that what we all do when we watch latics? imo it isn`t good enough.
  12. just as a matter of interest, lets suppose we never had RM here as manager, given that he saved the trannies last season plus the start they have made this season, would you have him here as manager?
  13. not got a clue who is available and who we would replace him with, i just think that we have and have had some decent players who, for whatever reason, don`t perform, and i think this comes down to either a lack of motivation or tactical naivety or both. I hope to god if he stays he gets it right but come christmas if we are adrift at the bottom of the table, then this would probably be too late to turn things round.
  14. I know i will get slated for this, but i think if the performance and reslt doesn`t improve against stevenage then we should look to replace pd as soon as possible.Barring the first few months our performances and results have been dire, i know we dont have any dosh but we are not alone in this nor are we the most skint.I don`t have a clue who we could replace him with but surely we could and should be playing better than we do given the calibre of players we have. I feel this season could be our last in this division unless big changes are made. I know pd is a genuine nice guy and can relate to the fans but i also think that this is the reason many latics fans are not demanding him to be sacked, as we have made no progress whatsoever in the three years he has been here and some if not most of our displays are pretty much abysmal. like i said, feel free to slate me for this opinion.
  15. I am 99% confident that if Simpson stays fit he will get us 20+ this season, that's if we play to his strengths and not stick him on the bloody wing again. I think that scoring will not be the problem, I hope we can play a lot more solidly than last season and not give away so many silly goals.
  16. If simmo could get 10-15, slew 10-15, our midfield four chip in with 10-20 and then the odd few from our defenders, I think we could find ourselves pretty high up the table. I'm feeling quite confident ATM.
  17. I think there's more to this than meets the eye, if there's no changing rooms in the new stand, then what's gonna happen when the current main stand gets redone? Portacabin on sheepfoot lane? Either this or the main stand will not be a complete new build. But still doesn't make sense as the stand will have to be closed while work is being done.
  18. Great, thnx to the posters on the other thread.
  19. Bugger, hopefully some info will appear here soon, someone from owtb must have gone. Be nice to get some further info on the stand and it's facilities for generating income.
