Edmundson should be our fifth-choice centre-half; not convinced he's ready to play regularly at this level (yet).

Bit of a change from "I need 5 or 6 more," after Walsall.
I enjoyed the top line. "I'm not going to make excuses... by the way did anyone notice I only had 14 players?"

Brian Wilson at left back was as big a flop.
I actually thought he did alright...

Shez clearly trying to make a point by playing Hunt in central midfield - there really can't be any other explanation. A bizarre decision.

Davies the only player in squad with any pedigree for scoring goals but yeah drop him ??
He was pretty hopeless against Walsall, in fairness. Seeems either very rusty or completely apathetic. He had one volley that was so feeble I'm not sure it even reached the goal line... Just not sure what he offers at the minute.
Admittedly, he was being asked to play right-wing (bizarrely) on Saturday, so it was always going to be difficult for him... -

At least that's (almost) square pegs in square holes. Let's just get the ball wide and try running at the full-backs/crossing it for a change - going through the middle with this lot's never going to work...

Both played fine yesterday. The least of our worries...

He's got several experienced professionals on his books, who'll all be on decent wages (Gerrard, Clarke, Davies, Green, Flynn, Gardner, Wilson, Banks...), and has already been given transfer funds to spend on younger players with one eye on the future (Holloway, Hunt, Duffus...). The only players who left at the end of last season were Croft, Law, Reckord, Ngoo, Dunne and Kettings, + those who returned after loan spells.
Not sure where he thinks the money's coming from to sign another 5-6 players without offloading some others. The central midfield's rubbish - everyone can see that - so he might get his wish for another player there. And he's probably justified in looking for another goalkeeper. But that aside, there should be enough talent there to be competitive at this level given the right management and tactics. Shrewsbury have won their first two and I can't see anyone in their squad I'm jealous of. Success at this level is as much about being fit, organised and solid as it is about anything else - and there's no excuse for us not being that with our current players.

Aaron Wilbraham gone from Bristol City to Noblot.
Only signed a new contract less than a month ago, too...

Shrewsbury in the mix now?
That's all we need!
If Paul Hurst keeps that Shrewsbury team up, he deserves a knighthood...

If we've lost every game - go.
If everyone in the league is level on 25 points and we're in there on goal difference - stay.
If it's somewhere in between - don't know.
-
Suspect the reason we haven't signed Peacock-Farrell yet is that he'll be on a loan deal and we want to pay his wages for the shortest time possible.

Not too bad, that. Could equally have started Banks over Fane (and suspect Shez will). Still think he might go back in for O'Neill to bolster his central midfield options though.

Is Shez's "good" defensive midfielder comment a sly dig at Fane, do we think, or is that reading too much into it?
-
22 is Mason Fawns, I think.

Any ideas who No. 23 is here? -

It's not like players knocked and underrated by our educated fans have left us to go on and forge careers at a higher levels is it? For all those who were happy that we cashed him in for a bag of haribos and a can of tango and worse still rated Cornell the better keeper
There's a big difference between being a good prospect at this level and being 1st choice for a Premier League team. When he played for us he was a decent League One keeper with a bit of potential. I can't see a year on the bench in the Championship having elevated him to Premier League standard just yet.

Yes I would think that is likely unless Liverpool decide wards better than the other two dodgy keepers they have which they might well do . Coleman might be first choice keeper for Huddersfield
I'll eat my hat if this is the case.

Thought Fane was excellent first-half, but, again, can only really be one of Ripley or Clarke.
-
Was about to go for Green, until I realised that it was him who was marking Robinson for their second...

His form when he led the line had us in the top 6 form table.
His form pretty much everywhere else he's been has been mediocre, though. Can't see him ever being prolific, but despite that, he may well be better than what we've got... -
Good for 70, dreadful for 20. A shame, but a point would in reality have been an unexpected bonus. Banks, despite his terrible set-pieces, played well first half, including one sublime turn and cross-field ball that Erwin sliced into row Z, and thought Green was quite good throughout. Obadeyi looks a threat, and Taylor held and used the ball well. Erwin was poor, and Clarke only won one header against Ranger all game - he's a good player at this level. Looked as though Law and McLaughlin respectively fell asleep for their first two goals. None of the subs made any positive contributions.
Had 0-0 written all over it until the sending off - Southend were organised and competent, but little more than that. -
Comparing International Premier League winner Joe Hart with League 1 team keeper Connor Ripley....really!?
Harts distribution is excellent if you watch and Pep would love to have him in the side now but he wont admit he :censored:ed that up.
Ripley isn't Joe Hart! Ridiculous! He has massive improvements to make to be anywhere near his level ,not just distribution!
Not if he watched his performance at the weekend, he wouldn't...
Sheridan's future.

I'm inclined to ignore any article that refers to Shez as "Sherri"...
