  1. We have had a dip in form after a crammed few weeks of fixtures, at a crucial time unfortunately. The only metric in which we haven't made progress is style of play. Points on the board we certainly have and thats exactly what the board will be looking at.
  2. you can be level on points and be above them too
  3. because players take time to adapt to a new system presumably, as we saw 1st half vs Boreham Wood
  4. I understand the criticism, but would suggest I dont think it was bad assumption if Mellon thought he could finish in the playoffs with the current squad and so add a few additions with a head start on recruitment for next season. Could we afford to let Conlon, Garner, Dallas go to division rivals when they were picked out as targets for us? The fanbase clearly wants a change in style along with the coaching staff so maybe even the playing staff do, maybe the board too.
  5. Just about 90 I think, 44 against Woking and his cameo against Hendon. I think the main issue is he doesn't fit in the team and backs up the point from my original post- Mellon wanted to change by now.
  6. Hence he dropped down a league. You asked about his position not ability.
  7. Winger, occasionally a CF. When he has featured here its been high and wide. He was deployed as a winger and CF at Morecombe and mainly a winger at Carlisle too.
  8. Early kick of means they will be waiting an awful long time after the final whistle in the Chaddy end for the Barnet result
  9. As much as it wasn't pretty to watch, the hoofball was being deployed to good effect until recently gaining us 1.8PPG but that style of play doesn't suit any of the January incomings. Dallas and Walker point to two inside forwards playing off of Garner or service for Norwood, Conlon and Hammond point to an two footballers, one with energy and the other experience. I think Mellon wanted to adjust to another system by now. The failed Boreham Wood experiment came just before this run of Sat/Tue fixtures and from there it was stick or twist. Knowing he would have to rotate players to come through that period, MM assessed the situation and figured the best way to get results is to keep going the same way and he has alluded to as much frequently. Its now got to the point we have players sub optimal for the current style of play but also the vast majority of the squad not capable of playing the way MM wants and no one comes out of it looking good. Whats the answer to that conundrum? Stick it out and hope form picks up again to scrape the playoffs or start the transition to better football now, appeasing the fans and new recruits but likely missing the playoffs because of it. Either way, I think we will see something easier on the eye come next season, after a full pre season and summer of recruitment.
  10. Done Just a quick note: the question regarding would you consider fan ownership and if so how much would you contribute doesn't have an option for no that you might want to consider adding if its not too late. Good luck with the rest of your dissertation!
  11. What does do a x even mean? They have all had vastly different journeys in this godforsaken league, just like we are having, with the only thing that they have in common is doing exactly what you say wont work. A Chesterfield- languish in the league for 6 seasons and only start to see success when you re-employ your last decent manager who builds a squad and identity for a few seasons? A Notts County- drop down and adapt quickly to make the playoffs every season only to finally win them in your 4th season after the club is bought out and taking a punt on an unproven but ultimately talented manager that is given time to build a squad and identity? A Wrexham- make the division home for 15 years only to be bought out by Hollywood stars with extremely deep pockets who go on to appoint a proven manager that is given time (and relatively vast resources) to build a squad and an identity?
  12. Stone Island, CP company, Burberry are all optional. Garishly coloured Gazelle's are mandatory
  13. I mean I cant remember a time Chesterfield have ever brought around 4 thousand fans so its only day trippers missing out anyway. Blame your allocation and your probable housing at the top of the stand, as far from the pitch as possible, on the fact sections of your fanbase have been talking about pitch invasions 6 months in advance. On that note, it would be wise for your fellow supporters to stop broadcasting the fact they are purchasing tickets in the home end. I suspect all parties are not unaware of this and the "no rationale" comment was made purely to appease your lot.
  14. I don’t see why not, there’s no obligation from the club to send someone I wouldn’t have thought and with us getting into the tail end with something to play for, why risk an injury? that being said, I have seen that Conlon is on the contingency list
  15. I remember. You’ve got a pair of stellar wing backs it must be said
  16. Hope so. Wouldn’t be surprised if MM hasn’t allowed whoever was picked to go.
  17. England C squad announced. No Oldham players called up
  18. Sachdev Walker People were crying out for creativity not defensive therefore Conlon/Hammond
  19. Interested to hear who you would drop from the CB trio? I'm struggling personally. A lot of teams play with 3-5-2 in this league and so I'd favour a 4-3-3, if we were to change. Keep the 3 centre halves occupied with runners and still keep a 3 in midfield as I think it would to be our detriment to revert to 2 in the middle.
  20. Alex Reid is a totally different player to Stones and Garner, but I get his GPG is similar. Problem is, Reid has been reprimanded for multiple violations of his contract regarding social media use and has now been told he doesn’t have a future at the club, Mellon would be weak to go and back track on that. Even more so considering Norwood is back from injury and we have a full supply of strikers. as for Kitching; correlation doesn’t always equal causation. He’s not a wing back and so I’m not surprised his form has dropped. To question his professionalism because his mate broke his contract is clutching at straws
  21. Second that. I found he used to shit out of challenges and rarely used his pace effectively, both of which seem to have been rectified. Maybe he should have shit out of blocking that cross though
  22. “ Yeah, it's been a difficult year weather wise but it has been up and down the country. The first postponement of the borehamwood game is where we saw most damage. We was always going to lose grass but it moves water well and the fibres are doing their job!” “ Yeah I know mate. It's difficult with just football but the new construction will give us stability even where the grass cover is thin. Everyone tells me the second year is always easier and the playability is better. I can't wait e”
  23. Just a joke. We can’t get over 10,000 yet without it being for a quid. So if it was a recent application, it wouldn’t have been a new ground for us.
