  1. Didn’t realise Avro where doing that well tbh
  2. Enjoyed that for once. Two teams going at each other and plenty of chances at both ends. Southend plenty of the ball but lacking an end product, Oldham happy to soak up and catch them on the break. On the valence of play I’d say Southend probably shaded it but definitely a deserved point for both sides. I predicted a tentative 1-0 Oldham but can’t grumble with that point at all. Fondop and Garner I though struggled as a partnership today, didn’t seem to be on each others wavelength which was surprising given their game time together and respective forms. Look better with Norwood on the pitch but yet to be convinced Garner is a good foil. Great to see Sheron and Hammond getting up the pitch and getting heavily involved in the attacks, gives the strikers more opportunities to find space and adds options to play through. Green was having a good game until his injury, looked like it could be a bad one unfortunately. Thought Conlon, while not fully fit, was an upgrade on McGahey in CDM, the play slowed down significantly when it went through him, I can deal with that away but not at home. Really surprised to see all the Hammond criticism- he certainly needs to improve in areas including his first touch and strength but he has a great engine and uses it to create space and subsequent chances from them, positionally he is where he needs to be at any point and always willing to join the press. Back 3 were solid and did well in the air against some serious arial presence in the Southend team. Kitching isn’t a natural LWB his instinct is to always be deeper than he needs to be and delivery was off for his standards. It was an eye roll moment when Hogan occupied the RWB role but actually played quite well there, even though their was a lack of end product. Hudson kept us in it, equally their GK kept them in it.
  3. Same line up, dont change a winning side. Hope Green can run Bridge into knackering himself early on. Think the back 3 should have Cardwell covered in the air. It will be a case of breaking down the best defence in the league.
  4. They are pretty naff away from Roots Hall with only 1.24 PPG and have played all the current top 7 bar us and Solihull and have failed to win away (D:2 L:3). I think if we keep Cardwell and Bridge quiet then their shouldn't be too much threat going forward from them. Lets just hope they're worse away than we are at home
  5. I dont mind that as long as its not every other pass, which it isnt with Gardner. I'd rather a player with some intent at least. I remember him saying that Mellon encourages him to play that way so I think MM just doesn't trust the injury record rather than him as a player. IMO equally our most gifted and injury prone midfielder
  6. Honestly id have Gardner in more if he didnt have quavers for ankles. Only midfielder who creates space for himself frequently and has the vision n technique to be creative. Hope Lundstram can find some form while competing for a place with Hammond. There is a player in there.
  7. Stats dont back that up Take his stats vs Eastleigh for example, he had an 86% pass accuracy and 10 losses with only 1 in our own half. 1 cross, 1 ball over the top, 4 mis-controls, 2 passes and 2 1-on-1 duels. Compared to Sheron with 83% pass, 9 losses 4 in our half and McGahey with 80% (albiet almost double the amount of passes) and 8 losses 1 in our half.
  8. Hammond and Sheron infront of Conlon This run of Saturday Tuesday fixtures is coming to an end soon so no need to keep rotating anymore
  9. Did they have a single corner that didnt result in a freekick to us. Also thought he was off but its nice to have it in our favour for a change
  10. Not sure if anyone listens but Micah Richard’s talks about his time at Latics and some fan mail he receives presumably from Corney on the latest episode of The Rest is Football
  11. Glad Conlon's being rested, looked mullered on Saturday. Not so happy McGaheys is his replacement.
  12. I dont know about that. Looking at the bigger picture, we were in playoff form and need additions to boost us. So really we could get players who weren't up to speed straight away.
  13. If you want to get out of this division, theres 2 ways. 1) Spend your way out 2) Build your way out We've gone with a spend your way out approach and to get the quality required in Jan we had to get players at a cut rate. All of the players we signed were not 100% match fit, its clear to see, but they are signings of undoubtable quality and will pay dividends.
  14. I keep thinking about that Borham Wood first half and the more I do the more I think it wasnt that bad. We played some good stuff at points, were patient in build up and most attacks led to something. Given we had the performance on Saturday and the Woking game since then, I kinda wish he would have to stuck to it for a bit to see how we adapted over time. I hope the personel he feels he needs is brought in over the summer and we start to see some entertaining football during pre season.
  15. Innit. Lets get back to the days they all had a fag at half time n the keeper kept a pint behind the post.
  16. There was about 800/1000 less due to segregation against Kidderminster so maybe the capacity is more like 2700 ish
  17. It was addressed a few weeks ago by MM. He tried to change up the tactical approach against Boreham Wood and at half time concluded it wasnt working so reverted back to the approach we see that has yielded a PPG of 1.79 in the league. He doesnt believe he has the personel.
  18. Or maybe they are giving it some much needed TLC, after underfunding for 2 decades, and doing it in a stand that has been empty all season
  19. Capacity is 13,500 plus change. Close to 1,000 for segregation easily. A whole section (e.i the first A in the Chaddy) will be segregated on both tiers. I was at the rugby and noticed they have ripped seats out of both the Chaddy and RRE which didn’t look like it would make up the remaining 500 but a significant chunk nonetheless.
  20. More recently Regan Booty is having another great season and we were linked in the summer
  21. They’ve got a naff home record but don’t concede many at theirs. They have abit of an upturn in form over the last few. I’m gonna go with a 1-2 Latics
  22. My 15 quid bet for Oldham to win the league that keeps staring at me in the face on every time I go on SkyBet is a contender
  23. Maidenhead with less than a goal a game at home on average and 3rd worst scoring record in the league vs Us with the 3rd best away record and 7th best defensive record Please dont do a typical Latics
  24. looks like it updates every 15 minutes because hes suddenly turned 90 degrees towards the end point. Didnt fancy the the victory lap in the end
