  1. Comparisons to Moore are interesting. Certainly not suggesting AL is a Moore character but Corney certainly was, albeit in a very clever disguise which fooled most fans. He has left the club in a worst state than when he inherited it, asset stripped over his tenure and we have seen all our means of proper income - viable club shop, fans through the door, Clayton arms - disappear or contract significantly. he cleared debts when he inherited OAFC but otherwise what he took on was a club in a much better position to progress. We are now starting from a significantly lower base than in 2003. Thanks Simon
  2. All to be aired by you at the AGM I hope Kowenicki.
  3. Look forward to seeing this idea tabled for further discussion at the AGM. Underdog has put out a rallying call to get involved. the trust is the vehicle to give fans some say in the responsible running of the club. It needs to find the optimum way of achieving that, including in terms of how it is structured. Fans have to drive it though. Put the idea forward.
  4. My sincere hope is that we are still clearing up from what appears to be a messy takeover which brought the club to its knees. This probably involves getting rid of everyone associated with last season (many of whom it would appear have been scarred by last season and their relationship with the club is beyond repair) - Gerrard will follow quickly after Wellens I am sure. This enables us to move into next year with a cleaner slate. I sense Corney made life difficult to AL and would like to think that is the root cause of this mess. With SC gone we can move forward. In may be talking bollox.
  5. Sorry for starting the Dale thing. Maybe not the best example to illustrate my point. The sentiment still stands.
  6. Well said underdog. in the trust we already have the vehicle in place for fans to get involved and make the club be better. It just needs more energy and critically it needs more bodies behind it to give it a greater level of creditibility and to be truely representative. It can bring fans together under a common set of goals which everyone buys into and which can work forwards a better future. literally no point moaning about the demise of club if you aren't willing to try and change it for the better through the trust
  7. Join the trust and get involved, exactly. The trust is absolutely vital to restoring a sense of pride in fans. It has the power to be a really positive vehicle for the club to engage fans and for the fans to feel engaged, involved and listened to and indeed for fans to outline to the club what it wants to see. I would love to see nothing more than a trust which is influential and well funded, which fans back and which they trust to represent them. A trust which is able to take small projects off the clubs hands to make supporting oafc a more pleasurable experience - a fan bar, a lick of paint around BP, perhaps running a fanzine again. OAFC should be a cohesive community. It is far from that at the moment. All that will be forgotten with a good season but that is not sustainable. It would be a temporary high. Rochdale is a cohesive community. The club stays together when the fare on the pitch isn't great and it makes the good times all the more rewarding. It has a character, a charm and an identity. The clubs fans, players, staff and volunteers are proud to be part of Rochdale FC. We couldn't be further from that. We have seen that pulled to pieces under the previous ownership with the year on year erosion of everything good about OAFC covered up by the fact that our position in the league didn't actually fall under his control. He has dupped you. There is far more to a football club than its league position. I care not that we have no money and that we are in League 2. I care deeply that OAFC has been ripped to pieces and no longer resembles the once proud and charming northern football club that it once was. Everyone of you is still here and therefore gives a shit. It is your duty to try and do something about our situation. Join the trust, get involved and make it the effective body which it has so much potential to be. Our new owner needs help as well as holding to account.
  8. The guys twitter page doesn't even say he plays for oldham. It says something like 'footballer, Northern Ireland, and has a pic of him in NI shirt. He, along with most players we have had over the last ten years, doesn't have one bit of pride in playing for oafc. Problem is these players are not bad but the club is rotton to the core and has some deep rooted problems which are engrained in its culture. A grave yard where success is the exception, where few achieve anything, where the environment is toxic, where there is no winning mentality and hasn't been for 12 years! This is deep set. You can't change that very easily. It's reputation is in tatters as a result. If I were a player or a manager I wouldn't touch the club with a barge pole. One man to blame for that
  9. Good post and well said. Repairing the erosion of the football club which we have witnessed in all areas over the last 15 years will take time. Instant results are unlikely but we merely want to see that we are moving in the right direction. It might be subtle things but small steps...
  10. Why does he need money? What's wrong with the club living within its means? - outgoings according to incomings and the club focusing on increasing the latter? Isn't that how Dale and Stanley are run? Bit navive of me perhaps but the club needs to put itself on a stable footing. I for one don't want to be in a position where the existence of OAFC is reliant on one person who has got us by the knackers and could pull the plug at any point. We need a more sustainable future than that. Isnt it the Trust's role to focus on achieving that? This is the basis on which it was set up and why it is represented on the Board of Directors
  11. Good post. Need to see the bigger picture in all of this and try to put OAFC on a new sustainable trajectory. We are where we are and need to forget about where we have come from and the failures that have got us here. It only leads to bitterness and meaningless arguments amongst fans that get us nowhere. what is the future you want? How do we get it? What is the role and contribution of fans to making that happen? Fans are not passive bystanders in all this.
  12. We did not stay put under corney at all, we very much went backwards. The club had a presence in the town, a reasonable fan base, a supporters bar. It had an identity, a soul. He killed all of that. I don't blame him solely for relegation but he laid the path.

  16. Keeper is an integral part of the defence. As a five, our defence is the worst in oafc history. The facts don't lie.
  17. Best midfield and front line for years. Worst defence the club has ever had. That is why we are down
  18. We should be favourites. Dale are seriously blowing this. We should be down by now. doesnt mean we will do it but I would put us strong favourites.
  19. Hear hear. We have to see the opportunity in our misfortune rather than assume misfortune leads to more misfortune.
  20. That includes big away followings from numerous teams. I'd put us at the Crewe mark.
