  1. Crewe's average is 14th highest at 3,800. We won't beat that. Not bottom 6 but defo bottom half. definatley not top 6.
  2. Agree with this generally though I would point out that our home crowds would be bottom six in league 2.
  3. Yes remember charlton well. I also remember finding it amusing that we would be playing lowly teams such as Reading! Good and strong leadership at the very top of the club will be key to any prospects of stabilising the club and pushing forwards, be it from a base line of league 1 or 2. Will test AL in that regard.
  4. Not all at suggesting the loss of income is fully offset. What i am saying is that we need to bear in mind that it costs a lot less money to be competitive in league 2 than league 1. Also Chesterfield, Colchester and the like will most likely come back up at some point. They might be at a low point now but they are well placed to be able to compete next season and beyond.
  5. all offset by the quality of opposition being lower and us being able to compete with a significantly lower budget?
  6. Obviously I am missing the point of the debate here but what will happen to OAFC long term if we go down is a complete unknown. there are three 'plausible' scenarios. Number 1. I don't buy for a second that we will go in to admin, do a stockport etc. I just can't see a relegation making that much difference to the extent that the club collapses having survived on a shoe string for twenty years. Number 2. The prospect of becoming a lower half league 2 club, with league 2 facilities, infrastructure, finances, crowds etc for years to come is very real. Whether that's really any worse than our current existence I am not sure. Number 3. It galvanises the club, we get a winning mentality back and can actually compete. Not for a second saying 3 will happen but I don't think number 1 will. 2 is a very real prospect which i think an early poster on this topic pointed out.
  7. Not if oafc is a tenant with BB being a landlord. That's very different to being a long term leaseholder.
  8. It's not 'the reason' we are struggling. We recovered significantly from that but have bombed spectacturarly since.
  9. Jesus Christ, our expectations really are low aren't they.
  10. Not looking good is it. All well and good saying this team has too much in it to go down but as good as our attacking threat may be, it's been cancelled out by the worst latics defence in living memory. Simple. I think we will stay up but I wouldn't be putting any money on it.
  11. We weren't that bad but that utter clown in goal has cost us. Totally inept. Should have caught the first with ease. Second was a killer. Outfield-wise it was an even game. Placide will send us down.
  12. Davies and Pringle did the only two decent things coming out of any Oldham player today. For that they are joint MOM. Name a better performer
  13. Let's get the ground looking decent first. It is crying out for some work in this area. Would be good for the trust to drive this - some identity, art work, statue, at least a nod of latics on the north stand!
  14. If this thread has highlighted one thing it's how far backwards we have gone under the last regime, albeit not on the pitch itself. The club is in pieces on so many fronts. Not insurmountable but it's going to be a slow rebuilding process. It ranges from physical infrastructure (pitch, training facilities) to our reputation and presence in the town, how we are viewed by the business community which once supported the club and the relationship between fans and club. Lots to do. It won't all happen at once.
  15. What we have to remember is that the new guy is Corney's choice. He has nurtured him over months and remains involved. This is not a takeover rather it is succession. Two very different things. i fear the worst
  16. Strikes me that he is being a bit unrealistic about our ability to bring players in. We are a very shit league 1 club with a woeful home support. Appreciate his frustrations (we were close to some decent signings) but he needs to apply a bit of pragmatism. He should have enough in that team to keep them in league one. If he fails it's a bad reflection on him.
  17. Can't see us getting six wins unless something drastic happens in defence. It's been laughable all season. The good run disguised that. We seem to signing player after player to bolster the attack but the defence is neglected. Jonny P is up there amongst the worst we have had.
  18. He'll stay. I am not for changing. Give the guy a chance. It's been a rocky intro to management and he deserved a proper crack of the wip be that in league 1 or 2.
  19. Playing great football and getting the philosophy right is admirable. Fact is our defence is woeful. Can't ignore it. In 7 games out of 10 scoring two goals in a won't get us the win. That is massively concerning, irrespective of our (potential) attaching prowess. There should be goals in this team without getting in another sticker. The defence has to be the priority.
